  1. That's why Bruce won. His system has proven to fail at the highest level. For years.
  2. Well, if NE looks the aame as they did last season, I think you have to start chalking up that NE success to mostly Brady and much less Bill. That was always going to be the interesting thing about that split, who ended up being more successful.
  3. Yeah, it is hilarious to see the Jags hire a dude that was known to bolt when things got stressful(or rather the NCAA heat got too much). This is the Saban hire all over again. He may well quit during the season.
  4. Darnold's ceiling is definitely higher than Teddy's, absolutely zero question about that. Darnold's floor is much, much, MUCH lower than Teddy's.
  5. At this point, are you convinced that those victories were all Bill Belichick?
  6. I think that matters at a certain level of ability the star and superstar players get by on their elite abilities. But the further down the ladder you go in abilities, the pool gets larger and larger. At that point, since the differences are much smaller, things like those connections mean a lot more. And, that happens in just about every professional sport. The NBA being a good example. You think the roster fodder guys are that much different than the guys tearing it up overseas or in the D-League? That's why JAGS are able to stick around specific rosters for a while(ours especially).
  7. Lots of room for error here and I think the spread of possible outcomes for most of the teams is wider than ever. Tampa is the obvious and clear favorite. Frankly, until Brady starts showing that Manning-like slide, they'll be at the top. My Pick: 12-14 wins Atlanta has the best offense in the division, so if they can muster an average defense they will be tough. But....they are still the Falcons.... My Pick: 6-10 wins New Orleans is the most interesting. This is a ready made contending team loaded with talent....but massive question marks at QB. I have an interesting way of breaking this down. Golden Calf of Bristol 2.0: 7-9 wins Winston: 8-12 wins For us, I think we still have a lot of roster holes, so I suspect a lot will depend on how our QB fares. Good Darnold: 7-11 wins Regular Darnold: 3-6 wins
  8. I am a little less optimistic after our offseason a day draft. I wouldn't say I am pessimistic but more worried about the direction. The QB and OL moves really bothered me. Aside from that, I think our roster depth is much better and we may have improved a lot defensively. It's just a matter of waiting to see which moves work out and which don't. Then we can focus on continuing this rebuild in 2022. I want to believe we finally have a clear vision for the future of the franchise. The next couple of seasons will let us know if that is the case or not.
  9. The production value was kind of low too. After seeing the Colts video, that was a big letdown.
  10. This makes zero sense for him or us. I wouldn't say no, however. Rodgers throwing to our WR's would be nuts.
  11. Count me as one that doesn't like going into the playoffs(in any sport) on a slide. I also don't like not attempting to win when we won't be playing for another week or more. I just.......not a fan of this move at all.
  12. I don't like the decision to lay down in the game. It definitely isn't good for the notoriously streaky Mrazek and I don't like falling from first to potentially fourth overall. I hope they can get fired up in the playoffs after losing two straight to Nashville. Definitely don't like going in cold.
  13. Prior to his arrival(his record with them is 43-21), their previous winning season was in 2003. So.....you are just flat out wrong.
  14. There have been even more signs that Darnold just doesn't have "it."
  15. McVay has created the push to find the next young offensive genius. It's an oversimplification of why McVay has been successful. Brady isn't Sean McVay. Most of these "young offensive geniuses" aren't.
  16. Not sure I would say that Brady isn't a QB whisperer if he couldn't turn a backup(Teddy) and a bust into something they haven't been. Is Sean McVay a bum because he couldn't get more out of Jared Goff? There are ample reasons to avoid hiring Brady as a head coach, but not being able to rehabilitate broken players shouldn't be one of them.
  17. Figure skating? EA Sports Scott Hamilton 2021?
  18. If that was the "real life" results, it would probably be one of the greatest draft classes in NFL history
  19. The only non-scrub loss was Okung and he wasn't healthy enough to move the bar this season even if we did bring him back(which we rightly didn't). The point being that the hope was that we upgraded over the guys we played(Miller, Scott, Reed, Schofield, Daley, Little, etc). I don't expect that Erving/Elflein are going to be much of an upgrade, nor does really their performances up to this point in the NFL indicate that(similar to last year's non-Okung signings). Everything about them indicates they are journeyman depth guys and not NFL starters(hence why they have been jettisoned by multiple teams). The draft isn't that much different. We took a shaky but athletic OT that likely isn't capable of being a starter at LT. Then we took fliers on couple of 6th round or lower OG's. In what was considered to be a very strong IOL class, that was extremely disappointing. Overall, I suspect we are going to net mainly depth guys or players that aren't likely to be on the roster more than a season or two. I am fine with improving the depth on the OL and the versatility of the FA's is excellent for that purpose. However, I am not seeing that either OG guard spot is improved nor certainly the situation at LT resolved. I get putting on the fan shades and wishing for the best. I also want all these moves to work out. But I cannot simultaneously turn off my brain and ignore the obvious flaws in what appears to be the 2021 Panthers OL strategy. Ultimately, I don't think the Panthers FO and coaching staff probably share my view of the importance of having a good(or great) offensive line.
  20. Yeah, I honestly was hoping for the first time in forever that we were going to take the OL seriously and make some needed moves. Needless to say, I was disappointed in what we ended up doing and the way we ended up doing it. I just hope these FO guys prove to be geniuses and make our skepticism look completely foolish. I'd rather look foolish and enjoy success than be right and watch the team look like dogshit.
  21. They were definitely better than I expected but I attribute that to a couple of things, the addition of Okung and also the Brady offense which revolved around getting rid of the ball quickly(Teddy actually deserves credit for this to, whether we want to give him credit or not). Still, even "better" was in the 16 to 26 range, depending on what metric you are grading them by. I am very skeptical of this version of our OL because I wasn't a big fan of our new free agents(basically backups, IMO...which we admittedly needed too) and I thought our attempts to upgrade in the draft were rather poor overall. But, if we can simply get 1-2 solid starters out of all these moves, it would make a huge difference in my thinking. I actually like Moore better than Brown. Brown is fuging ENORMOUS but he is probably gonna be a bit limited in what he can do overall because he isn't going to be able to move like anyone else on the line. Definitely don't expect to see him handle speed rushers well or be out on the edge pulling.
  22. Don't forget about Scott. I am not sure he doesn't ultimately beat out our new free agents.
