  1. It would be a 2022 pick as a conditional.
  2. I am not sure there would be a bidding war for a guy like Darnold. Keep in mind that he is on the last year of his deal.
  3. I think they will want more than peanuts, unfortunately.
  4. Teddy was genuinely a mistake to sign at the contract that we signed him to. I think a lot of us felt that way at the time and in hindsight it even looked worse. I am as perplexed as you about what spurred this sudden push to compete. What changed in a year's time from when Tepper was preaching the long term rebuild? Did we perform better than expected? Yeah, but I didn't see us as being close to contending. I saw a year showing we had some nice pieces to build on. Our roster was still just as bad as it was projected to be. We will see how this turns out. It's been a very odd offseason with the signings we have made so far. I hope we are able to do better in the draft. At least then we can start to maybe see the light at the end of the tunnel with a couple of more successful drafts.
  5. I get balking at the price but finding "the" QB is difficult. Not every attempt works out when you need a guy, first round or not. I would be all for trading up to get a guy in this draft or trading for another very good QB. Sadly, both those ships have probably sailed. Now we should probably just stand pat hope someone falls to us at 8. If not, draft a mid-round QB or sign a veteran QB to shore us up for a season or two. I am not against trading for someone like Minshew, if the price makes sense. I don't see any way we can move forward with Teddy this season the way things went. I don't envision it being a positive environment for anyone on the team.
  6. Yeah, that is a different argument. Fair point. The non-first round QB's stick out precisely because they are outliers. They are the exception, not the rule. Go look at PFR and you'll see how rare it is to have a non-first round QB pan out. It's not exactly something that isn't common knowledge. Hence all my snide remarks. Panthers fans always tend to fixate on these outliers and ignore the trends/history. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising, as we had two recent GM's that lived on the idea that they knew better than anyone else when it came to drafting. I think that crept into at least a portion of our fans as a mindset. It's also why we have so many fans that cannot wrap their heads around the idea of positional value during the draft.
  7. Well he does have better career TD% and INT% than Teddy, although not by much. I will say that he has had 15+ passing TD's 8 times in his career, something Teddy has only done once. IMO, Alex Smith is the starting caliber version of Teddy.
  8. He is a rare gunslinger that has taken care of the ball, too. I am all for getting him as a Teddy replacement. Our games would at least be fun to watch again. Ryan Fitzpatrick 2.0 is a good comparison. I'd take him or a later round QB over Teddy.
  9. Alex Smith was far better than Teddy.
  10. And you can basically count on one hand the times that a non-elite QB has won a Super Bowl in the past 25 seasons. There is a pretty obvious reason for that.
  11. Thanks for further proving my point. I bet that lottery investment strategy is going well.
  12. Reimer is just not the guy. Obviously the defensive play has been suspect but....damn.
  13. Panthers fans pine for outliers, without understanding that they are precisely that.
  14. I think you are basically just creating a narrative that you choose to believe, which is certainly your prerogative. But, your distaste for Cam and/or his fanboys really don't change the history of elite QB's and being competitive in the modern NFL.
  15. Which, that also makes it tough to retain your core. You can only do that a couple of times before you start losing the team
  16. You blame Cam for being the only franchise QB in the history of the Panthers? Now that is an interesting take. I think the larger issue is that we all see what having an elite QB means to being consistently competitive in the NFL. Until the rules start changing to favor the running game or the defense, the NFL will remain a passing dominant league. That is why it is vitally important to have an elite QB. Not having that makes everything instantly much more difficult.
  17. I think the plan is to build the rest of of team while gambling on lower round QB prospects and veteran free agents. Then if you finally have the team, be bold and trade the world for your guy in the draft or from another team. That is just about all you can do in that 5-8 game win purgatory.
  18. He could fart them right at me if we are winning SB after SB.
  19. I don't know if I would pick Chicago we actually allow the most goals against them by a wide margin. Tampa we actually allow the second least goals against.
