  1. Yeah, I have heard similar. No BS, I do agree about the inciting a panic stuff. I never thought I would be on that side of the opinion but the way people are freaking out, the less they know about the spread, the better.
  2. I believe in times like these, Moose Hoover may be our best hope.
  3. I'd be curious to know if they are doing many tests for the virus. I keep hearing people saying they aren't. I'd like to know if that is true. Or, what basis are they doing the testing on?
  4. I am weirdly in agreement with some of the government's position on the numbers. I do think we should be testing more people because that data is valuable but I do not think that the general public should get that information at all. They have already panicked at an extreme level and it is just going to make that issue worse.
  5. As usual, offering no actual input or useful information. I am pretty sure most have figured out what you are at this point. I see lots of posters with articles, even personal anecdotes and yet you just offer snide commentary and shrill, panicky speculation packaged as factual information. Like I said....good luck with that.
  6. Yeah, I am also going to just ignore that article and click on the source material. In a crisis, the media is not going to be able to transmit accurate information. They just haven't developed that way. And I mean that outside the typical propaganda spewers(Fox News, MSNBC, Russia Today, etc). I am not against utilizing traditional media except in a crisis. They typically drop the ball on accurate, complete and non-reactionary reporting when they get spun up.
  7. Wouldn't be the first time the FDA has kept safe and effective drugs/medical products that other first world countries have proven to be effective away from the US.
  8. I did dismiss it and just clicked on the source info.
  9. I think the Japanese have had some success with a drug, can't recall details. Sounds like there might end up being multiple drugs that prove to be effective at treating the seriously ill patients.
  10. Well, I guess I was wrong. They have done some analysis on the asymptomatic transmission. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/03/200316143313.htm
  11. 14 days will certainly hamper the spread significantly, so that is just a ridiculous take. Will it stop it completely? We won't know. All of this information is preliminary so they are adjusting the strategies as new information becomes available. As for the asymptomatic people and the transmission, I have yet to see anything conclusive on how long that period of being contagious would last. I think that is something they are likely studying but I wouldn't expect much in the way of conclusions for a while. I know that at least I am trying to be educated on the issue, read about it as new information becomes available and actually spread that information. All I see you doing is spraying text in here with no sources but pretty hard beliefs. That speaks volumes. Good luck with that.
  12. Well, it hasn't changed him being an asshole from the early reports.
  13. The more I see your posts, the more I am convinced you are just freaking out and that no amount of data will change that. I posted the incubation data and the early data about how long it is contagious. What else do you want?

  15. https://www.jwatch.org/na51083/2020/03/13/covid-19-incubation-period-update Some of the preliminary China data seems to back that idea.
  16. TBH, IMO the push towards another great depression will largely be because of these quarantine measures. This virus and the reactions to it are exposing how fragile our economy is. It is also highlighting how deep the problem of income inequality is.
  17. I have actually heard the same from a friend. If they start mobilizing the military and declare martial law, this country is over. Mark my words. And people wishing for this, be careful what you ask for.
  18. Honestly, even with that disorder, changing those other things in your life probably makes you much better suited to fight it than most.
  19. My friend and his GF who were ill went to a hospital in NC. Not surprising.
  20. That might be a bit early on the timeline. It really didn't start taking off in China until late December. That is also a big issue with this virus, the symptoms are basically the same as just about any cold, flu or upper respiratory infection. It doesn't do anything special to make it stand out from a symptom perspective.
  21. I am truly disappointed coming from the internet age and growing up with the internet that people are not more media savvy. It is really unbelievable that even the younger generation cannot have a skeptical view of major media outlets and cannot pick up on the "point of view" that is being delivered. I thought people would get smart to a lot of that stuff, especially coming from the "trolling" generation. But it really hasn't happened.
  22. The best thing any individual person could do is turn off all the news outlets, stay away from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Don't use that poo for your information. It is toxic. They are sensationalizing everything and they cannot help it, it's what they have evolved to do and it's our fault as the general public for pushing them in that direction for the past 40+ years. Get your information about this outbreak from the science community, from public health organizations(here or abroad) and other independent science driven entities. They will cut through the BS and just give you data and relatively objective analysis. The panic crush is pushing this whole epidemic.
  23. We likely aren't going to see a vaccine for a long time, if ever.
  24. Well we don't have accurate numbers because we haven't been testing. I had a buddy of mine over and he and his GF got really sick with upper respiratory infections a couple of weeks ago. They tested negative for the flu but they refused to test them for corona. No joke. I am not saying they had it but why not test and start following their trail? We are just dumb. But, on the other hand, people here have been freaking out over almost no cases so I can only imagine the level of panic if they knew the true extent. It is probably better we don't know, sadly.
