  1. I don't think you will see much contributed in the way of receiving from TE. Brady doesn't historically have a high TE usage rate in his offense. Nor are those guys elite pass catchers. It shouldn't matter if CMC stays healthy and our new WR signings can replace(or even exceed) Samuel's production.
  2. I would wager Slater is much more likely to be an All-Pro than any of the lineman we signed or drafted. Now, will it be at LT? TBD. Will he be better than Horn? TBD. IMO the hope is that we upgraded the roster depth at OL and perhaps get one average starter out of it. The dream is that they were all home runs and we have 2-3 7+ year starters.
  3. I never claimed not to be an asshole. Anyway, I did make an assumption that you were simply a USC fan that followed your player into the league based on your single player post history here. If I simply do a post history search you literally only discuss him. That doesn't strike me as much of a Jets fan or a Panthers fan.
  4. If it doesn't happen(splitting the load at least somewhat) I guess I just am not going to be able to philosophically understand why we as a franchise(with multiple head coaches and front offices) don't generally view that position the way the majority of the NFL does and at least have some sort of "by committee" approach. Maybe I should look at the long term consequences of those big RB contracts. Do teams tend to use those backs more on average(which you would expect) but also tend to do it when they aren't nearly as productive? IE, is it more of a contract based usage or a skill based usage? With the investment we have in him, I would like to see him be productive without much drop off over the course of that time here. I just can wrap my head around why you would want him to have 90+% of the workload/snaps if you are thinking about his future.
  5. If that happens, that was a very successful draft. TBD how it turns out. We'll know in 2-3 seasons.
  6. I am not selling him short, moreso concerned about overusing CMC.
  7. Yeah, my fear is that we continue running the wheels off him. I would like to see Hubbard get maybe 10-20% of the load(if he is capable) and maybe save some of this wear wnd tear on our most expensive offensive asset(and best offensive player). I know RB's have short shelf lives anyway but I would like to see him preserved at least until the end of his current contract.
  8. Well, the bulk of his work was before we knew Teddy was that bad. I am curious to see if our philosophy isn't that dissimilar from Turner in terms of running everything through him.
  9. Mike Davis is gone but in the fifth round we draft a talented RB in Chuba Hubbard. As we are all more than aware, Ron Rivera's offenses seemed to revolve around your best offensive player carrying the overwhelming bulk of the usage(see Newton, Cam for other examples). Interestingly, in just three games of action last year, CMC was on pace for his highest rushing usage rate yet at 19.7 rushes per game, even higher than his 17.9 rushes per game in 2019. However, his usage in the passing game dipped from his 2019 usage as he averaged just 6.3 targets per game from a high of 8.9 targets per game in 2019(7.1 TGTS/GM in 2017 and 7.8 TGTS/GM in 2018). So his overall usage rate was only 0.8 touches per game less in 2020 than 2019. After a season which was mired with injuries and drafting a talented young RB, will we finally see CMC get spelled more? Or will his usage rate continue to climb in 2021?
  10. They have actually had 11 winning seasons since 1995(last in 2015 at 10-6) and 7 playoff appearances. Sooooooo........that statement kind of applies to us too, right?
  11. Yeah. I actually was watching NFL football at that time. I didn't start when Sam Darnold got drafted. Carr rushed for considerably more yardage and and same amount of TD's in his first three years than Darnold. Had you watched the NFL at that time, you would have seen the historically bad protection he saw. It had nothing to do with him not being able to make plays on the run. That's ridiculous.
  12. It's possible. We will know soon enough.
  13. He isn't going to be a game manager anyway. He is a gunslinger, he basically stated he plans to stick with that. The biggest question is where he falls on that scale. Is he a measured gunslinger in this offense or does he go full Favre and just plain wing it. I guess even when he is being a disaster at least it will be more fun to watch than Teddy was last year. At least we will know it is over and not have to suffer through being close and then having him choke away a victory. fug me that was miserable.
  14. I don't think we got many starters from our draft but I think we got some good depth guys. IMO, outside Horn that was basically this draft. A lot of cheap and more quality depth options. I would never have wasted the 2nd and 3rd round the way they did but TBH, depth had been a massive issue since the roster teardown. Arguably our biggest issue outside QB and starting OL.
  15. No offense but I don't trust player chasing fans. They are very, very rarely fans of the team. Reference the fact that the overwhelming bulk of your posts are Darnold related. You aren't a Panthers fan, you are a Sam Darnold fan. So, until you are a fan for a few seasons or remain a fan when Darnold is gone(which sadly probably won't be long) then I will remain very skeptical of "fans" like you. Every offseason we see a small continent of players chasers from college teams and even a couple from free agent signings. Almost none of them stick around once those guys move on.
  16. Even if Marshall and Shi flame out and we have no threat at TE.....this team still is has three high end receiving options. There should not be a reason to fail to move the ball with relative ease.* *Assuming there is not a cavalcade of injuries.
  17. The issue I have with this is that is exactly the definition of a game managing QB. That is basically what we had last season. I don't think there is any question Darnold won't be as good as Stafford or Watson but he needs to be appreciably better than Teddy for that trade to matter.
  18. You are aware that David Carr was a much better athlete than Darnold, right?
  19. I think it also comes down to all of our offseason moves. Darnold may be the biggest but if our OL is trash, we are in a pickle. If our FA defense signings don't work out, we are in a pickle. IMO, if we crush the majority of the offseason moves other than Darnold, we could still potentially be a fringe playoff team or at least be battling for a winning record. Darnold remaining Darnold is ultimately still the biggest limiting factor, you are correct in that regard.
  20. The correct answer is divisional opponents. The Seattle "rivalry" was never real. Only a portion of our fans believed in that and their fanbase almost never considered us more of a rival than any other NFC/NFL team. Atlanta and New Orleans followed by Tampa are the correct and really only answers.
