  1. We changed staff since last year? You are assuming they are married to Darnold. I am very doubtful that is the case. They seem to be married to winning and success. If Darnold isn't the guy in 2021, he'll be gone in 2022.
  2. And they signed Teddy to a three year deal. The one thing that is true is that the staff has shown very little patience for players that aren't it. If Darnold isn't it, he won't be here.
  3. I don't think he will get any longer leash than he is the only option this season. It's basically him or nothing.
  4. True. Ultimately it will boil down to winning. If he can win us games, his tenure will extend to 2022. If not, he'll be shipped out like Teddy was.
  5. It's unfortunate we just didn't have to horses to get past a team this good in the postseason. We need to take that lesson back to Raleigh for the offseason. No matter what the level is during the regular season, there is a next level in the postseason. We have struggled to reach that next level.
  6. Ultra lucky to not have been swept in this series. For a variety of reasons this has been a disappointment playoff wise but we have a great future and great core.
  7. I don't think he has to be a Pro Bowler but he has to be close to Jake Delhomme. We all love Jake but that isn't a high bar to clear.
  8. I realize that seeing stats that don't fit within your bias probably upset you. Don't be sad. Most people are dumb and you just happen to be most people.
  9. There is no way you could convince me that wasn't the worst team we had faced all playoffs. The difference was they had a coaching staff that was far better and the refs decided to swallow their whistles when it came to the Broncos.
  10. Well you aren't familiar with being a fan of an NFL franchise, so there isn't a way that you could understand it.
  11. I don't think Darnold has long to prove himself. If he is mediocre to bad this season, he is probably not going to be a Panther in 2022. This staff doesn't seem to have any desire to keep guys around that don't play at the level they need them to nor do they appear to want to preside over losing teams. 2021 is a make it or break it year for Darnold.
  12. Well, the stats case for Darnold is about as bad as you could make for a starting QB. In truth, we only have one NFL caliber QB on the roster in Darnold and he is likely a #2 QB at best(decent chance he is a #3 QB). Oh well, maybe it will be less frustrating to watch than Teddy for a year.
  13. Yeah, we are betting on long shots in the all college staff and a reclamation bust QB. You just have to hope that one or more of the gambles works. I guess ultimately that is all you need.
  14. I think Delhomme is about right as far as his ceiling. He will never be an elite franchise QB but if everything goes his way he might be able to be as good as Delhomme was. His ceiling is honestly less concerning than his floor.
  15. I think we will see them be more aggressive with a far more athletic secondary and a hopefully improved LB corps.
  16. I think his ceiling is even higher than Star because he is a more legit threat to rush the passer.
  17. No, those guys were freaks. Brown isn't likely to be that guy. But, that doesn't matter. He makes everyone around him better and that is important, if underappreciated.
  18. Well if Darnold fails, we will be in a Browns like situation. Remember that time period where they started QB after QB, season after season? Take a look at our post 2017 run of different QB's. It isn't pretty. 6 different QB's to start games and 7 different QB's to attempt passes in a game. This year with Sam will make that 7 and 8(assuming Walker and Grier are the #2 and #3). That definitely doesn't happen to winning teams or functional franchises. If we fast forward in the future and Darnold fails.....how easy is it going to be to keep guys like DJ and Anderson eventually? It definitely isn't great for their careers to have a new QB every season. That is the thing that Panthers fans need to be aware of, sometimes it takes a while and a lot of losing to get the next guy at QB. We have had those periods already in our team history, so this shouldn't be foreign to us.
  19. That line was so fuging good. We have a promising group of players on our DL here now but I am not sure we will ever eclipse how good that group was.
  20. People forget how good vintage Kris Jenkins was. Had he not struggled with injuries and consistency, he would have been considered an elite player at that position. Also, playing next to a freak like Peppers didn't exactly do wonders for his spotlight either.
  21. RAS also has a "size" portion of it, which can skew it against players that aren't in the "ideal" category. It definitely can highlight guys that are elite athletes. If you look at the Panthers historic RAS scores, a large portion of our elite players are in that Elite to Above Average category. Brown will never be a guy like Donald or Cox or Jenkins. But he can blow people off the line, create for our other pass rushers and generally disrupt plays. That is where his value is. He just needs to become a more sure tackler and work on his array of pass rush moves. If he can smooth out the rough edges, he can be an 8-10 year starter for us.
  22. Well, you just don't know how to Google, which isn't super surprising. Try looking up his RAS. For reference, it's a fair amount lower than Kris Jenkins(who was an above average athlete via that metric). He isn't a bad athlete but he is definitely not an elite athlete, especially by NFL standards. But that isn't necessary at his position he just needs to be explosive in short windows.
  23. He isn't really even a super athlete he is just so freakishly strong.
  24. Imagine him when he actually has a polished pass rush game.
