The compensation is quite good for the player. The decision to trade seems foolish based on our situation specifically. Oh well. I guess it's ride or die with the young guns. If they end up dying.....not sure how this is gonna work out for the FO/Coaching staff.

Is 4.61 way slower than 4.53? because that was their combine 40 times. People give Evans credit for being far faster than he ever was. Elite speed was never why he was so great.

I mean, you are sort of speaking out both sides of your mouth with that, right? So, one hopes we aren't treating these roster spots like lottery scratch offs. This is based in things the coaching staff have seen to believe these guys are worthy of the roster and have value to add. Not just "maybe this will work out." That being the case, the staff also believes that Moore adds more value than Renfrow. You can disagree with any assessment you want but it's pretty tough to make the "lottery ticket" argument work for Hunter Renfrow.

This isn't exactly a rare thing, though. This does happen on a lot of NFL teams with guys they just know and trust. Rightly or wrongly. Horn and Stephens are the ones that reallu made me think they didn't have a high value on Renfrow.

Not to mention he does have a lot of familiarity with Dave and Dan. I am not gonna throw a fit about Moore. Horn and Tremayne making it over Renfrow leads me to believe the Panthers did not value Renfrow nearly as highly as most thought.

Yeah, he does have the option to hold out but he is betting on himself. Ultimately, yes he could lose a massive sum of money....but he has also MADE a massive sum of money, even by NFL standards.

He doesn't have to sneak on there. He can sign directly. If he does not, I would gather this was never meant to be.

I am not sure I would call $66 mil in a 2 year span, probably all guaranteed(depends on 2025), that much of a loss. The truth is, he might or might not have gotten that on the open market. It's hard to say. That is basically(assuming $66 mil) the 6th highest pass rusher AAV.

You know, some of the linemen from Cam's era would likely have started over a few of these guys(if not all). Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Norwell, Turner, etc. Plus Steve Smith Sr. for a short bit and DJ Moore too. That was always sort of the issue with that era of Panthers football, these things just never intersected at the right times. Also, the defense now is so incredibly much worse than it was then. That would have been a mess to navigate.

No, he wouldn't. Chinn was here when we needed ILB's and he didn't use him for that. We had him as a reserve S. He isn't "an Evero guy."
