I don't think I would read too much into the preseason whether he struggles or plays well. Our first real check for him should be after about Game 4. If it is trending bad, we might be in trouble. If it is trending good, we might be okay.

I liked some things and didn't like others. I really liked the 2020 draft so this was a huge step down, IMO. But, we could get some impact player long term in Horn and Marshall and maybe some key roles players like Tremble, Nixon, Smith. Anything beyond that would be great.

I also don't think he will be the same level of loss if he gets poached off the PS as Butker was. Kickers can make or break you(reference Slye, Joey). I hated the pick because we could have simply signed him as a UDFA(although Washington went dumb after us too, so who knows). Ideally, JJ keeps rocking out next season and until his contract is up and then we can stash Fletcher on the PS until he takes over. If that happens, all butthurt will be rendered null and void.

No question. I definitely wouldn't put money on betting it would be a better class. However, it could happen. Even if it is a good class, we might be just good enough to have to trade up to get a guy anyway. It is all to be determined. I don't believe even one iota in Darnold but our best case scenario is if he is the guy. It solves so many problems. We just have to hope against all odds it happens. If anything, we are due as Panthers fans to have some kind of miracle like that.

I tend to agree. The heat will start to rise on the staff and I think since Rhule is calling the shots, he is gonna get a little antsy. Will be curious to see if it is in the draft or via trade. Jimmy G likely to be available next offseason.

That works when you are Bill Belichick, not so much for a team that hasn't had a winning season in a while. It's not a huge deal but if we don't start winning in the next couple of years, it's another thing that will get thrown on the pile of dung that is going to get heaved at the franchise(and likely owner).

Yeah, that is really going to put a damper on future offseasons if this continues. I will say, they are largely removing the reasons to check out TC and Fan Fest.
