I had an unexplained scratched cornea and went to the ER thinking it was metal in my eye(had two OSHA injuries involving that prior) and they basically said something similar. Is this some new fetish I am unaware of?? Some Three Stooges cosplay?

CUTS - Panthers must be down to 85 players today
kungfoodude replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, some of our starting OL are backups too. -
Herron hucks his guy pretty well too. Edit: Eh, maybe not that well. Looks like his guy just lets up.

I don't think he is one we could even afford to cut. -
Does that make The Tinderbox dopes the Huddle AIDS?

I agree. Mediocre Darnold is the real nightmare scenario. IMO, regular Darnold and good Darnold are the most likely outcomes. The truth is, we aren't likely to make any moves at QB in 2021 without some injuries. The thought of dumpster diving or trading for a QB is just a fantasy some like to entertain. Honestly, the same goes for the bulk of our team. I don't think we are going to get a lot of value from post cut dumpster diving.

Those were such head scratching moves. I'd rather see BC and Brown after the week of practices and pretend game versus Indy. Give them some first tream reps. What is it gonna do, stunt the growth of two veteran players? I only see upside playing those guys more.
-
That's the thing. We know Minshew can play well in the NFL because he has. Darnold's instances of competent NFL play have been pretty limited. But Darnold clearly has a higher ceiling than Minshew, although a far lower floor. Minshew is an attractive option for us because there is no Plan B in 2021 if Darnold shits the bed. That said, I don't think the odds of him being our answer for this future would be very high. He's just a reasonable solution to a potential 2021 problem.

I don't think anyone doubted he could be a mauler in the run game, the question was could he be agile enough to get his hands on people in pass protection or could he make blocks consistently beyond the line of scrimmage. BC and Brown looked good enough against backups that I would like to see them against starters at some point in the preseason. We know that Elflein and Erving aren't likely to the guys. I'd much rather watch younger players with higher ceilings tale their lumps and potentially get better.

Miller possibly. Eflein, unlikely.

Projecting is literally what you just did.

Most of our team needs reps. We have one of the youngest rosters in the NFL.
-
The overwhelming bright spot in a completely and utterly meaningless game. If we are sitting some of these bum ass "starters", Marshall needs to start riding the pine too. He is more critical to our success than quite a few of the guys that sat.
-
If Darnold stinks(not an unreasonable assumption) PJ won't be better. If Darnold fails, it won't matter which of our three current QB's we trot out, we are gonna be in trouble.

It will be a critical year for the staff. If the QB, OL and K all flounder, I just don't really know what more needs to happen to convince them these are positions that win and lose games regularly at the NFL level. Perhaps the QB and OL are better than expected. Slye....well, that just isn't happening. Better off hoping that Will Grier is the new Tom Brady.
-
You mean by the same staff that didn't try too hard to improve our OL? You really that surprised? I do get that we can't fix everything(simply too much) in one or two offseasons but we sure don't try very hard at some of the most critical positions in the NFL.
