  1. I mean, most people are rightfully salty because he is the worst QB we have had in a stretch of pretty bad QB's. We also traded a king's ransom of picks(relatively speaking) for a guy that wasn't even worth a 7th rounder. But, I was against the move from day one because he was so CLEARLY a terrible QB from his time in NY. I have never been able to fathom why people look at him and have hope. He is the classic example of a guy that simply cannot process anything he sees on the field. It isn't rare to see but it's normally guys you draft late that don't make a roster, not top 5 overall picks. Also, he is far from the most hated Panthers in history. We've had some real doozies in that category.
  2. You are quite literally grasping at straws. Even during the season while the losses were piling up, it was easy to see that "top ranked defense" was anything but that. Couldn't stop the run, kept having points piled up on us. The bottom shelf offense didn't help but the defense eventually collapsed. The last 8 games of the year we averaged allowing almost 28 ppg. What part of that is elite? How about being tied for 28th in Takeaways? Is that elite? That was always the problem with our supposed "elite" defense, outside of yards allowed, almost no other defensive stat was elite. The closest was sacks and we were tied for 14th. Which, you said yourself you didn't watch the games so how would you even be able to know what we looked like? Watching the games was the clearest indicator of how that stat was ultimately meaningless.
  3. INB4 Tepper hires Lincoln Riley for 8 years, $240 mil.
  4. Yeah, it just goes with sports and losing. If your team is stinking it up, fans aren't gonna be happy.
  5. I think Haynes could be a good rotational guy. I do think the chances of him being a high caliber starter are pretty limited. But every good team needs quality rotational guys, so glad to have him keep improving.
  6. I think they can technically get out of his 2022 salary. Depends on how it was written. They also have the option to legally pursue the money back from him but that seems very doubtful unless they want a disgruntled QB....again.
  7. I am an almost 30 year veteran of the internet. I saw its beginnings and what it has become. There are still places that are all sunshine and rainbows but most of them aren't in the sports forums. I also remember plenty of bitching about sports and nastiness in the mid to late 90's, as well. It is worse but I don't think it is dramatically worse. It just feels that way.
  8. I am not sure about the Watson situation. I suspect the punishment will either be too harsh or not harsh enough. The NFL rarely metes out fair punishment. I think the Browns are looking at this long term so I doubt their concern level is high. The fact they signed Jacoby tells me they knew him being suspended for 2022 was a possibility. It's not terrible for them, he wouldn't get paid any salary.
  9. Cam would make more sense. Brissett and Jimmy G are pretty similar versions of the game managing QB. Cam is something different.
  10. That is bold. I like it. But keep in mind that Jacoby Brissett was signed for this reason specifically. If Cam doesn't get signed by them soon, I don't think they would go down that road unless Brissett gets injured.
  11. Not a goddamn thing. Literally pure BS.
  12. Well I think depending on the age of the "teans" that might be a child labor law violation.
  13. I mean....there is literally a poll in here now showing the discontent. This place is gonna do it's thing. Rhule and Tepper are going to take shots because....well....they deserve it. They are the reason we are eating these poo sandwiches.
  14. Yeah, I do believe it is about money. I hope they don't want to nuke our cap space we get to roll over.
  15. I think the cost will be fairly low, TBH. Also, it isn't very common for starting QB's to get knocked out in TC. We will see what happens. My bet is they move him before August.
  16. I think they already tried that and found out the market wasn't that big for Baker. Plus there is the fact that Jimmy G will be on the block shortly so they won't have the only starting caliber QB available. They are more likely just trying to get rid of a distraction. I don't think it is about maximizing value at the moment.
  17. I think it will still be smoking depending on TC reports. If Corral is really struggling, I could see those fires still being stoked. Even if Mayfield is gone, it will be Jimmy G. These stories will always follow a QB controversy.
  18. If it's a 5th to 7th rounder, those aren't particularly relevant. Anything in the 1st to 3rd round is pure fuging insanity. Should be a fireable offense after the Darnold deal.
  19. The message board you have invented in your head doesn't exist in any successful form at all. If you only want positivity with a franchise mired in the failures that ours is currently experiencing, there would literally be about 100 people here and maybe 10 active users. It's normal for people to not like to eat poo. It's pretty abnormal for people to eat poo and smile while they talk about how much better this poo is than they expected. Complaining follows failures. It evaporates relatively quickly when winning starts.
  20. I mean....Slye has been on three different rosters since we released him. What did Smitty say that was wrong? Slye was awful.
  21. I imagine the talks have been fairly steady. We don't know how serious the Panthers are but Fitterer/FO staying in contact is a smart idea. If you can get Baker for relative nickels and/or unload Darnold, it's wise to keep having these discussions. I definitely don't think this is a fake story. Too much smoke for there not to be fire. We just don't know how big the fire is or if it's actually still burning.
  22. Yeah, I mean a logical move would be to start Corral(unless he is just a disaster in camp) and figure it all out, with the safety net of the 2023 draft. But the ratio of smart to dumb moves is pretty heavily tilted towards dumb under the Tepper/Rhule era. I suspect we will end up with Baker and he will easily win the starting job. Which, he is due for another good season, so we'll probably win 7-9 games and then sign him to a massive, long term deal. Bcuz Panthers.
