Lol. Oh I will always love Steve but hitting Fitz heights would be a dream scenario for TMac.
-
It's more likely to have diminishing returns when he starts bulking to the level needed to make a big impact on being yanked down. He is also already not the most fleet of foot, so he would be better off trying to get better fast twitch muscle than actually bulking up to be Jalen Hurts level lower body strength. JMO, but I don't think it matters. I highly doubt you are going to see a major body overhaul in his future.

100%

I hope he has the level of dedication that Fitz had. That would mean we might have our new best WR in franchise history.
-
Yeah, that would have to be a real breakdown of tape. I will say his first three years in the league were pretty good on the tackling front, so it was a surprise to see those stats.
-
No doubt but that shouldn't have an impact on the missed tackles. I will say that it is certainly possible that since our LB's and safeties struggle in run support and tackling that perhaps more of these guys are getting back to the CB's than necessary. That's certainly a possibility.

Fitz is sort of like Jerry Rice in that there isn't anything physically that necessarily makes him so elite, they were both just masterful at their craft. Fitz was a MFer in a 50/50 ball scenario, too. One of the best of all-time at that, IMO.

This isn't bashing Horn, I just didn't realize he was trending so poorly on the tackling front the past two seasons. I do remember a couple of really bad ones this season but not that many. It might be something you would need to sit down and look at each play. Maybe going for broke on a strip or diving in desperation after getting beaten badly? It's not something I associate with Horn so it was a surprise to see him being that bad.
-
Well he was a liability versus the Saints all season, outlier or not.
-
Honestly, I have this fear, as well. I don't think think there is a gap between what the coaching staff, FO and ownership thinks of Bryce and what the general public/fanbase thinks. I think there is a chasm. IMO, they are basically ready to hand this guy the keys to the franchise and for all the "if Dave Canales had..." lines of logic that people spout, I think he may be bought in the hardest of anyone outside of Tepper.
-
Yeah, I think people's memories of TO the person dramatically shadow what a truly insane player he was. He was a DK Metcalf level of fitness freak with basically near Jerry Rice level competitive spirit. He was an absolute terror in a time where DB's could absolutely mug elite WR's.

High School???
-
Lol. Probably?

George and Johnson are similarish level NFL players. Terrell Owens was a HOFer. That will get you a lot more leeway than most other players. And I think people don't appreciate what an insanely elite guy TO was. He was almost a 1k WR at 37.
-
Yeah, it would be a historic haul, IMO. I also think that people are just really, really, REALLY reading too much into a frustrated guy in an interview. By all accounts he is an extremely competitive person and early retirement doesn't sound like it is in his future for frustration purposes.

I mean.....we aren't mathematically but....we do all know the reality.
-
So....about that.....
-
The difference is that Owens always produced on the field. That will get you a long ways, even if you are a nutcase.

This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
kungfoodude replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
There are likely to be former starting QB's, veteran backup QB's, broken toy QB's and draft QB's available. We aren't going to be bereft of options. Perhaps lacking in a ton of quality options but lacking in quality options is also the current state of our QB roster at the moment. I never thought these words would leave me mouth(fingers?) but, fug it, trade a 3rd or something similar to the 49ers for Mac Jones. He'll never be a franchise caliber QB but if people want a game managing QB, that's a far better option on the table than Bryce Young. -
I like Coker a lot but the offseason conditioning stuff has me somewhat worried about his commitment to his craft. I genuinely hope they start focusing more on getting him developed and perhaps invest significantly less time in trying to develop whatever next roadkill/XL themed stadium sandwich.
-
There might be one or two positional coaches in the NFL that think that about Bryce Young and that's probably after doing a heroic amount of cocaine.
-
Tyler Boyd and shell of AJ Green. Recall that was Boyd coming off back to back 1k seasons with the Red Rocket, so I would say that is still a significantly better WR Corps that our current one. Now, a few years from that now may not be the case but that's putting a lot in the basket of TMac really becoming elite and Coker developing into an exceptional possession WR. The rest of the gang is basically hopes and prayers. We hope and pray that Horn or Tremayne or even XL eventually becomes more than a 4th-6th WR but that's asking for a LOT of development.

Rozebum has great range but being out of position all the time hasn't been much help. I would rather have kept Shaq in hindsight, knowing that Jewell was not going to work out as a replacement. Now, we couldn't have known that was going to transpire and Shaq was coming off a very serious injury. Still, it would have been nice to have one competent LB in the mix rather than Dumb & Dumber in Rozebum and Wallace.
