  1. Poor Man's Baker Mayfield will likely get overdrafted(1st round) but I certainly hope we aren't the team doing it.
  2. Well basically any starting QB in the NFL is likely to be an improvement over our current one. But to be a contender we are going to need a top flight QB. Wilson isn't going anywhere in the next couple of seasons. Minshew is an improvement over Daenold but I also don't think he would be a guy capable of winning a Super Bowl here. Agreed on the game managing QB's(Goff/Jimmy G/etc). They can work for well built teams with elite defenses. It is also just generally harder to win big games with those kind of QB's. I don't think there is a clear answer to the problem, unfortunately. We have exhausted a ton of draft capital in 2022 so trading up for a QB isn't likely. Additionally, this may be the worst QB class in a few years, so it isn't the best time for that. I think what the best idea would be is to just get a "better" QB in free agency in 2022 while you start building the OL. At least then you can move on from Darnold and hopefully improve overall on that side of the ball. Eventually we will have to make a splash move in the draft or in free agency but grabbing a mid-tier QB in free agency in 2022 allows a measure of improvement on offense while rebuilding. It also allows more time to find "the guy" in the draft.
  3. I think plenty of teams are interested but not at the price Houston is talking. They want full retail price for an open box item that is missing parts and has a national recall issued on it.
  4. It's what happens when you are losing. All the gripes you have are magnified. This season has been extremely difficult to watch because I was right about too many things that I said wouldn't work out. Contrary to what some Huddlers believe, it isn't satisfying to be right about something that hurts the team. It's extremely frustrating.
  5. If you want "better" there are probably some options available in free agency(Cam being one) and via trade. But, I don't think good is on the table unless they swing a trade for Watson. The offense just isn't set up for success in it's current form. I don't think the staff will be able to do anything but stick with Darnold. PJ is a lateral move, at best. So, we are just likely to watch Darnold prove for 11 more games what most of the league saw, that he was a bust. It just is what it is.
  6. I would love to see the analytics that got us Erving, Elflein, Christensen and Brown. I'd love to see the analytics that have us playing Moton at LT and Christensen at RT, despite both of them only ever playing the opposite side.
  7. He cannot be a top 12 QB. He does not have that ability in him. It isn't about struggling, it's that Cam would be better because he just is better, even in his current state. "Better" might get us one or two more wins and he would be less likely to just summarily fug games up for us but Cam/Panthers 2021 wouldn't net a playoff berth or probably even have a winning record. I get the hope of Darnold but the reality is simply that he is who he is. There is no light at the end of this tunnel, he is simply the player he has always been and will continue to be. That's why so many of us were perplexed when that move was made. The fact that he was a bust just really didn't seem to be much of a question. Whatever doubt about that is completely gone now. He is a bust. Now, does that mean he won't win us a couple of games when he is "on?" Nope. He probably will. But overall he is just simply going to suck because he has always sucked. It is just what he does. And he will DEFINITELY suck in the circumstances he is in here.
  8. Kind of my view. I think they will do a better job of giving the game away to us.
  9. I can't imagine that if the deal gets done before the trade deadline that the price will be anywhere near what Houston was asking.
  10. 28th in the NFL in turnover margin. That isn't gonna result in many wins.
  11. I will put it this way, Sam Darnold's best season ever(currently watching it) would be Cam's worst full season in his career. That's what I mean. Even broken down Cam is better than Darnold. I am not sure if you are aware but Sam Darnold has been one of the worst QB's in the NFL for four seasons running now. It ain't about Cam, it's about Sam.
  12. Yeah, there is absolutely no question Cam is better than Sam Darnold. That's just laughable to even suggest otherwise. Even a broken down Cam is better than Darnold.
  13. He had stretches of elite play in NY too. It's the reason some people thought he had potential. The deeper you look at his career(college to pro) the more obvious his flaws are. He just is who he is. He can be more successful here but we didn't build that team.
  14. Yeah, I mean that would be great but I think we are seeing that the offense is going to be a crutch most of the year. Darnold is completely incapable of elevating the team and we didn't do a good enough job of building an offense around him that allows him to be successful. 6-9 wins was my preseason prediction and I think with CMC being out, it is trending towards the 6-7 wins. It is a shame we have squandered good opportunities against bad teams.
  15. I think if you have an elite OT or IOL prospect available in your spot in the first(I project us in the 10-15 range of the draft), you just take your surefire starter. Also, if you end up with a top 10 pick you get an elite player, if available. Outside of that, trade down and get more picks to spend on OL. You don't even have to target a specific position, because we literally need everything.
  16. 100% agreed. It would have likely cost us less money too. But hindsight is what it is. The worst part is that we couldn't even bring shell-of-Cam here now because of the optics. Even thought he is likely a much more effective QB.
  17. Also, trading for Mack may mean CMC is gonna be on the shelf longer than expected.
  18. We are basically down to getting one player in the two deep with the first rounder. MAYBE a shot at a second in the 4th. The rest are just longshot picks. I suspect we will see them trade down out of the first and get 2nd/3rd round picks.
  19. The thing is.....each progressive decision at the position has made us worse. It really boggles the mind. Used up Cam > Allen/Heinickie > Teddy > Darnold. I am not even sure how we are going to get worse with our next move. Resurrect the ghost of David Carr??
  20. I mean, it would have to be 2023 picks, I would think. Can we afford to lose any more 2022 picks??
