Yeah, because that is always how it works. Any other cherry picking you'd like to try to salvage your argument?
-
You don't even believe your own argument. If you trade up for a QB at the price of three 1st rounders, that is three whiffs. Not to mention, those were two other potential QB's you can't take. QB's are franchise altering, you say, well whiffing and not being able to pivot and try again is.....franchise altering. That is quite literally what you are missing. Those were two more potential shots at that QB.
-
Yeah, if I just cherry picked a three year stretch and manufactured where they would be drafting, I guess I would have an opinion that stupid too.
-
-
You are entitled to your opinion but they also have zero shot to draft a QB in the next few drafts if they whiff. So....yeah, franchise altering. You trade that kind of haul, you have to hit. Be because it bankrupts your ability to add high caliber, cheap talent for multiple seasons. Look no further than our idiotic trading which basically has us down to a "one and done" draft.
-
You didn't miss anything. None of the QB's played any better than they did during the practices. A few flash plays from Willis, Howell, Ridder, Strong and then a bunch of inconsistency. Just a really bad class. Maybe Corrall impresses. He is about all the hope left.
-
I don't disagree but I also think this is the one class you just don't want to gamble. We had our shot last season with Fields and Jones on the board. All these 2022 QB's scream 2nd or 3rd string NFL guys. But I am also very biased towards OL due to the situation there. The odds of hitting a HR at OL seem so high.

I don't think we will see a draft without a 1st round QB for the foreseeable future.
-
It is much easier to pivot from a bad QB draft pick but it is a set back. If nothing else, you lost a potential starter to build around. If you traded up to get them, it could have cost you even more. I love Trey Lance as a prospect but if he isn't a franchise QB, the cost to obtain him is franchise altering.

After the Senior Bowl, I would say the consensus seems to be that this is an even weaker QB class than thought. No 1st round talents to be found.
-
Sinking and floating turds argument.
-
Seems like the relative consensus was stock up for Willis, stock even or slightly up for Howell, stock down for Pickett, Zappe, Strong, Ridder. Just a really terrible QB class on paper. After the Senior Bowl, probably worse than anticipated.
-
If we had those picks this season, we might have been able to put together a very, very good young OL core.
-
More than one will go in the first because of the importance of the position. After the Senior Bowl, probably only Willis had a stock uptick but that will probably come back to Earth when they do deep dives into his tape. Huge talent but a massive project. Pickett, Howell, Ridder, Strong all have major question marks. Zappe looked to be a 3rd string guy at best. It will be interesting to see if Corral ends up being the top guy just because he isn't able to work out as much and expose his flaws.

YGM seems like an obvious start to me but I also am not trying to re-create Temple glory. At the minimum, we need to get another DE on the roster that can handle pass rush and run support.
-
Watch us draft Neal/Ekwonu/Cross and then start Erving.
-
Pass rusher may indeed be a need if Reddick leaves. TBH, we do need better DE's anyway. Reddick and Burns are below average in run support.
-
Yeah, I guess he isn't universally liked. I heard the same about Hutchinson, actually. But, the question is, do any of the top 5 teams like them?
-
I am starting to believe this.
-
Penning, Ewonku, Linderbaum, etc So many bullies. But probably not "versatile" enough for our dumbass staff.
-
Yeah, it is possible. IMO, fairly equivalent but not a guy I would take. As a Panthers fan, I would assume we have a top 30 grade on him.
-
Chad Pennington-esque. He could be an upgrade as a #2 or #3 QB. Definitely a guy I could see as a 4th or later gamble. But, like I said, I don't think we are that team. If I was the GM, no way I would take him.
-
Fair. At least there is some potential upside with Zappe but the cost depends on the round.
