  1. So, for the people who follow/stalk these athletes on Twatter or whatever social media platform, keep in mind that some if not most of these guys do read this stuff you post on their feeds. Opponent or not, don't troll these guys or trash them in that kind of format. We never know what is going on in their personal lives nor do we know the challenges they may be facing. Every single one of us, myself included, loses sight of how easy it is to sit behind a keyboard or screen and rip into these people we don't know and make assumptions about them or their personal situations. I know I would never want to be a part of a crowd that is responsible for sending someone over the edge that is experiencing the level of trauma and grief that Tarik is. Think about that before you post something in the heat of emotion to these guys feeds/accounts/DMs.
  2. I wouldn't be against trading him at all but we would need some relief from that dead cap nuking. Also, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to claim to want to be a road grading, run it down your throat offense and then get rid of the only elite running weapon at your disposal.
  3. Yes but even if Corral is only marginally better....wouldn't you still rather see him? I never accepted the "Oh he's young" argument for Darnold because his tape was so fuging bad. I can at least accept that for a rookie. At least even if he is highly mediocre to bad there is still some hope about improvement. Darnold had years of bad film. We know he is terrible and isn't going to improve enough to ever be a good NFL QB.
  4. You probably can't easily be a complete idiot and play football at a very high level but just the simple concept of intelligence isn't always easy to quantify. So, conversely, while "smarter" guys might be able to pick up concepts more quickly(in theory) designing a test probably isn't going to be as effective as just simply interviewing a guy, watching some film and/or having him break down plays and schemes. That's the most effective way you are gonna be able to tell if a guy is on the Luke Keuchly end of the scale or the Sam Darnold end of the scale. And even if you excel at that, you still need to be able to put that into action effectively. Hence why something as football irrelevant as the Wonderlic isn't going to reveal much. Not to mention plenty of players have stated they don't take it seriously or even care about it. So given that alone, you aren't going to be able to effectively use it a tool if people aren't actually trying to take the test.
  5. That is a pretty barebones article in which the paper is behind a paywall. I will see if I can get some more information about the methodology because he really doesn’t dig into what they found other than that sentence. Not saying they might not be onto something but I at least like to view the source material first. Especially since he literally doesn't discuss much of what they actually did or the results.
  6. If you hear him talk, he isn't likely to be good at this. I will give him a chance but Olsen proved he had the ability to be quite good at it. I think Fox is mistaking people's interest in Brady after retirement as a bobblehead. I think we can all agree that none of us tune into an NFL game based on the broadcasters. We may or may not use the mute button based on who is announcing.
  7. There were about a half dozen analyses of this done in the mid 2000's to mid-2010's all of which showed either no correlation. I read those fuging things more than a decade ago because of a similar argument where I had the same(incorrect) opinion that you are holding now at that time.
  8. https://www.vox.com/2014/5/8/5694518/why-the-nfls-wonderlic-aptitude-test-is-totally-worthless There are some more studies since then but this links a few of the original ones.
  9. No, there us basically zero correlation at all. This has quite literally been analyzed by study after study and had absolutely no correlation on NFL success. It's always been a complete myth that it matters at all.
  10. For me, mainly that he isn't Sam. I mean, he could still be a backup quality QB and be better than Darnold. I am hopeful that he becomes more than that but my expectations of any 3rd round QB will be low.
  11. Hilariously and fittingly, our two worst GM's are at the bottom.
  12. The biggest thing in Texas is their mouth breathing residents egos. It's pretty insufferable. Beautiful state filled with highly annoying people.
  13. Stafford is an elite QB and was an elite QB. Carr isn't the talent that Stafford is. However, Carr is DRAMATICALLY underappreciated for how good he is. 100% by the fans and often by the bobbleheads, as well. They will jerk off over the Mayfield's, Murray's and Garoppolo's but will ignore Carr. He is better than all those guys.
  14. That would be hilarious. End up having no 2nd or 3rd round picks for a second straight season.
  15. If he becomes Derek Carr, that was a mammoth pick. Derek Carr might not be an elite guy but he is a good NFL QB.
  16. Not sure you are terribly familiar with our head coach. The guy well known for micromanagement.
  17. Before we get all excited about our projected OL, please keep in mind that the guy making the decisions on who starts is the one that willingly started Pat Elflien and Cam Erving for most of last season. I know he has more football knowledgeable people in the building now but he may not listen to them. We hope he does, but that remains to be seen.
  18. Don't bother trying to explain it. At this point, if people can't see it they are doing so willingly. You can talk all you want but it's almost impossible to be heard by someone with their head in the sand.
  19. NDSU is Alabama-esque at their level. That happens a lot there.
  20. Need to bang in this PP goal early and put them down again.
