  1. Exactly. AA is no different. A very imperfect system but it exists because of historic abuse in hiring practices. People may not like the idea of forcing hires or forcing interviews because it feels unfair. It isn't purely merit based. But that is also a very unrealistic viewpoint. Employment and advancement is rarely purely merit based. After all, regardless of any sort of race/gender/creed/religion how many people see naked and obvious nepotism in their fields? Happens ALL the time and all over. So if we throw out this false idea of a purely merit based employment system, these are why these checks(although at some level fundamentally unfair) exist.
  2. The spirit of the Rooney rule is basically to force NFL teams to simply give opportunities to interview in the hopes that experience alone would start to change some hearts/minds and eventually black coaches would be given more jobs in the league. Mixed results so far but far less impact than I am guessing the league thought. Ultimately, it's going to take a lot of time. Owners are of an age range where you can expect certain attributes. Similarly, they are of a wealth range where you can expect certain attributes. If they hire enough similarly minded people, it makes it tough to change that culture. IMO, if the numbers of black assistant coaches, position coaches and coordinators keep increasing, the change is inevitable. The NBA had to go through similiar at one time. In rather typical fashion, the NFL is one of the slowest to change.
  3. He is going full "woman scorned." Not even saying some of what he is saying isn't accurate but suing all 32 teams is a quick way to being permanently out of the league. I have no idea what poo-bird lawyer got in his ear but.....ooof.
  4. Looks shiny and golden.....likely pyrite.
  5. He is the only QB with elite talent level. Also potentially the lowest floor.
  6. Missed the 3rd period due to fatigue(drinking and cooking until 2 AM the night prior). Glad to see we eeked it out.
  7. I am okay with either of these teams winning. Looking forward to enjoying a Super Bowl without a hated team.
  8. Would like to see Stafford/Donald get rings. After that a close second with the Bengals. That fan base deserves it. Then the Chiefs. Last is the 49ers. Don't dislike them but they have won plenty.
  9. Yeah, there is something there that isn't public. Has to be.
  10. I am a little perplexed about EB. He really must not interview well.
  11. It's about the top 4 rounds. If you get multiple top 4 round starters or regular contributors, it is a success. For top 10 picks, you need them to be not only effective starters but borderline Pro Bowlers.
  12. Absolutely not. His talent evaluation is a fuging joke. As much as the Huddle crowed about the 2020 and 2021 drafts, I believe history is going to be EXTREMELY unkind to them. I think all my saying, "Well we have the talent to be a good team" is going to look really foolish in 4-5 years.
  13. Better only matters if it helps us win. Most QB's in the NFL are better than Sam Darnold. Maybe almost all of them. But can they win more games than he did here? Not all of them. So better only really matters if it is better enough to make us a better team.
  14. That one will be interesting to see how it progresses over time. Is Tua a guy and Flores fails or vice versa? I know that winning as many games as Miami did in a row isn't nothing. So he didn't lose the players.
  15. I have long held the opinion that NFL development is largely self motivated. It isn't that NFL coaches can't help but they have a limited amount of time to work with these guys. You have to be trying to get better on your own time. There are guys that love this poo and will do anything necessary to excel and then there are the guys that just happen to be good at it. Brady needs to be on the bench and working on his craft every season/offseason. In the meantime, go find an elite LT prospect.
  16. Based on the stories from Miami, I am not sure about Flores. To see the internal relationships with the GM and QB get so bad is a red flag.
  17. Yeah and that is what Wahle(and the rest of the 4 Man Rush crew)is saying. It is also why I say he is really a backup OL and not a starter. Could he fix some of his technique issues? Yes. Is it likely he will? Probably not. If you look at the previous weeks 4 Man Rush episode with Wahle, he tells a story of his time in Miami and a young guy that was a very good athlete(which Christensen is) that they tasked him with trying to improve his footwork. He basically said if you work on this every day, you might be able to accomplish this in a few years. So, when he talks about guys that are comfortable in these positions and have excellent technique already, those are the type of players we should have been drafting. He also referenced Slater and how stellar of an OT prospect he was. So this is just more ammo into how bad our OL evaluation is. It is why I think we just aren't going to be able to recover on that unit. We need people in the building that understand how to evaluate offensive linemen and it's obvious that Rhule isn't that guy, nor listens to those guys if they are there.
  18. It just further shows how poor Rhule is at talent evaluation, in addition to coaching.
  19. I like Jameis(lobbied for him after Tampa) but I just don't see him being able to do much in our current situation. If we were stacked on OL and had competent coaching, sure. But in that scenario, we could also probably attract someone better.
  20. Nice to have a stinker and still get the W, though. That's fine by me.
  21. I can't fathom him wanting anything to do with this situation but you never know. I don't think he moves the bar enough for us to really matter. After all, better than Sam isn't much of a bar to hit.
  22. As a huge Cam fan, let it go. He is never going to be prime Cam again. I would love to have him back but I also agree with his own words, there is no reason to be a backup for a 5 win team again. Hopefully someone picks him up and he can get the ring we robbed him of in Carolina.
  23. You sure it's Sam's fragile psyche? At this point it seems more like Rhule's fragile psyche.
  24. The 4 Man Rush does a little film breakdown on him with Mike Wahle. Go to about the 47 min mark if you want to skip the playoff talk. Hit up about 45 min if you want to see Mike laughing his ass off at picking a long snapper in the 6th. Anyway, more evidence of how bad our coaching and talent evaluation is.
