Let's just take a look at them all. Not gonna include draft moves because those are a separate thing in my mind. 2021 Sam Darnold(2nd, 4th, 6th) - Massive loss. Greg Little(7th) - Win. Ryan Santoso(Cond. 7th) - Push. No pick traded. Darryl Johnson(6th) - Loss. Did not stick with team past one season. No impact(3 games played). CJ Henderson + 5th(Dan Arnold + 3rd) - TBD Stephen Gilmore(6th) - Loss. Did not resign with team, played in only 8 games. 2022 Baker Mayfield(Cond. 4th/5th) - TBD. Dennis Daley + 7th(5th) - Win. Laviska Shenault(6th, 7th) - TBD. So, a couple of wins. A couple of losses. A HUGE loss and then a lot of TBD.

7-10 I said I thought the Mayfield trade put us in the 4-8 win category and I think we will finish near the top of our potential at 7 wins.
-
Yeah and he also hasn't been with the team all offseason. He's likely to be a little down the depth chart.
-
Yeah, that's generally what I mean. We have lost on the one major trade we made(Darnold) and almost all the smaller trades. It's really up to Henderson, Shenault and Mayfield to pull us out of that slump. The issue is that we burn those later round picks on guys that don't stick or don't make an impact, then trade away guys to get the picks back. Couldn't you just accomplish the same thing by keeping those lower round picks and taking longer shot players? Hence why I don't really think Fitterer us some sort of wild genius, he just seems to be a guy that likes making deals. I just want to see him win on some finally.
-
Well we have had quite a few guys we have traded for that either didn't make the team or immediately didn't re-sign with us. I think Henderson and Mayfield could tilt that balance in our favor pretty heavily if they have good years and Baker ends up re-signing. Right now I would say we lose more than we win. They aren't dramatic losses but they seem fairly consistent.
-
Bet we trade some guys next offseason to try and get some of this back. I hope we start to get ahead in these kind of moves. I am a little concerned that we kind of burn through draft capital and then scramble to get it back. I do think that is a potential Fitterer weakness.

Baker Could Be our “Brees”

Yeah, except Eli Manning apparently. So there is your comparison. Eli Manning. Wow Drew Brees. The next Eli Manning. -
Fitterer going into 2022 season
kungfoodude replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
This feels a little early to be saying this since we have played a total of 17 games with "his" two draft classes and the overwhelming majority of the players have played in less than half of those games. There is definitely some guys with great potential but there are an equal amount that don't necessarily look like they might be in our future. This will be something we know more about in a couple of seasons and can have a much more accurate picture. -
Well, could be worse, I suppose.

Fitterer going into 2022 season

That's basically me. The moves have been a mixed bag, at best. But Rhule is still technically the GM so I can't get too upset with him yet. -
Go home, Dave.

Read deeper into that issue.

Yeah, even the people employed professionally doing these evaluations are wrong more often than they are right. How do you expect TV bobbleheads to fare? Now project that to fans. It gets even worse.

Lots of people who don't know what they are doing get enamored with Alabama prospects.

Can you imagine how terrible Mel Kiper would be as a GM?

Baker Could Be our “Brees”

Well that was an impressive hissy fit. So, back to your "examples." In the Brees Choke Era 2020: 5th in PPG Defense, 4th in YPG Defense 2019: 13th in PPG Defense, 11th in YPG Defense 2018: 14th in PPG Defense, 14th in YPG Defense The examples you cited as "proof" In 2012 and 2015 the Saints went 7-9 and missed the playoffs. So without any defensive help....they lost. That isn't going to the Super Bowl. That isn't even going to the playoffs. Burrow 2021 17th in PPG Defense, 18th in YPG Defense Mahomes 2020(SB Loss) 11th in PPG Defense, 16th in YPG Defense Mahomes 2019(SB Win) 7th in PPG Defense, 17th in YPG Defense So, in the three Brees chokes, New Orleans was an upper half YPG/PPG Defense 100% of the time. They were a top 10 YPG/PPG Defense 33% of the time. In the Burrow/Mahomes SB runs, their respective teams were an upper half YPG/PPG Defense 33% of the time. They were a top 10 YPG/PPG Defense 16.7% of the time. These were just limited examples. If you want, I can easily destroy the "playing to seed" portion of Brees career. That's up to you. -
If they got a no from every NFL team, I think he clearly is. Some of these guys flame out so hard they don't recover.

It's not uncommon for 7th rounders to not make a team in their rookie year.
