  1. If he can be a solid backup tackle, that 3rd isn't a great pick but also not a bad pick. About average. I can be okay with that result.
  2. Brown's problem is that he lacks a lot of discipline. He is pushing so hard trying to get sacks that he often gets redirected out of plays, especially in run defense. He's extremely inconsistent. Far better pass rusher than most thought but he really is far, far worse at run stuffing than I ever expected. Hence why he really needs to figure it this season. It's going to be tough to think about extending a guy that just cannot play well consistently. Burns should have double digit sacks every season. Not just because they play 17 games but I swear he misses the most sacks that are right at his fingertips of any Panthers player I can recall. If he hit on 60% of those, he'd be well into the double digits in sacks. He just needs to keep working to get a better and more diverse set of pass rush moves and being disciplined on run plays. Both of these guys have the ability to be great/elite, but they just haven't been able to put it together yet.
  3. Yeah, we don't have the players to run the scheme we are trying to run on defense. Need much, much better LB's and more disciplined DL. We generate a lot of pass rush pressure but are atrocious in run defense.
  4. He's a very mediocre player, at best. It shouldn't be to hard to upgrade him but we definitely don't appear to try very hard to do so.
  5. It would be nice to see Brady pan out but I am not hopeful about it.
  6. Very possible. I do think those IOL spots are going to be largely up for grabs.
  7. Yeah, I mean if he never plays another down for us, it was still a good gamble in the 6th.
  8. Smitty was not a UDFA, though. It's a long shot for any UDFA.
  9. Even if that is the case, none of those guys is likely capable of beating out our top three. I think maybe it's more about that bottom of the roster churn Fitterer talked about.
  10. That is interesting. We threw money at UDFA WR's. Maybe they view the positional depth as less than ideal? I would have honestly said that is one of our stronger units on the team.
  11. I don't know if they would have and neither do you. That's ultimately the problem with your example to try and prop up your McAdoo argument. It's a flawed premise because it doesn't have factual support. Well apparently we did offer that massive deal straight up. Not sure if you remember but Rhule took that deal to the Giants and they immediately balked at trying to outpay us. So, again, not a great example. It's also getting a bit off into the weeds to talk Darnold or Rhule when my original point still pretty much stands. It's a big red flag to not be able to get at least a coordinator job in the NFL since 2017. That's a pretty clear indicator of what the league thinks of him. Could he turn that around? Sure. A season or two of really good offenses here and certainly.
  12. I suspect that means he will at least make the PS.
  13. Rumors aren't facts. The "value" on Darnold was established by one specific dumb team. Same with the "value" of Matt Rhule when we hired him. Same dumb team did both of those things. Same dumb team that hired McAdoo.
  14. Yeah but there will always be dumb teams. The fact that no one hired him and we did.....well.....does you think 31 other teams are dumb? The Sam Darnold move is a great example of us doing something dumb that zero other teams would have done.
  15. Yeah but I am not taking up either side of you guys argument on the playcalling. I am just pointing out the lack of ability to be employed in the NFL in any meaningful capacity outside of one year as a QB Coach in Jacksonville in 2020 since his firing in 2017 is bad. That doesn't happen to good or great coaches. Honestly, it isn't common for mediocre coaches. It is common for bad coaches, though. The NFL is kind of telegraphing what they think of him, IMO. We will find out soon enough. I know that I won't give him the same rope as I gave Brady. He doesn't have any "learning" bubble. He needs to come in and produce right away.
  16. Well the Jags FO is a complete disaster, so that could be why they got rid of him. It will be interesting to see what the NFL thinks about him as a FA.
  17. It's possible but it's been a while since we had a UDFA actually make the roster, IIRC.
  18. I like Minshew but I do wonder if he can ever match the legend the Huddle has made him. I'm as guilty of it as most but if he were really the second coming of Fitzmagic, he would probably have a LOT of interest.
  19. Great post. It's funny that I remember how having a "possession" receiver was such a big thing before all these spread offense became the norm. Lacking the ability to separate is one of the quickest ways out of the league now.
  20. He is saying that it's an incentive for the fans to give feedback. And also that Tepper is a shyster.
  21. Yeah, I am skeptical of the supposed "genius" of McAdoo. But, really we just need him to be competent and it's an improvement. I think we can all agree on that. I am also a little perplexed by the crowd that has elevated his status as QB whisperer to almost mythical proportions. I don't think he would unemployed for so long if he was really an exceptional guy at developing QB talent. But....he just has to be better than Brady, so his bar is gonna be pretty low.
  22. Ron was an established entity in the NFL already. I wouldn't have hired him as a HC personally but he also wasn't a disaster. McAdoo on the other hand actually was a disaster as a HC. I don't know if he will work out or not but you don't find many NFL coaches that cannot get employed for the length of time that he did. It's definitely not a great sign.
