Eh....you know I would rather wait a little bit and end up overpaying for a great player than pay too early and find out they are not a great player. I really intensely dislike that move in all but a few cases.

Yeah and Bryce was bailing from a clean pocket. That much was very obvious. Go watch those games again and it really stands out. I don't think any of us are trying to imply Ikey is the next Orlando Pace but he is blocking well enough to be effective. Heck, I think he is our 2nd highest rated OL on PFF(I know, I know).

Honestly, it would have to be a special prospect and I am not sure there are any of those in the top 5. There are some pretty amazing skill position players available and I would jump on those in a heartbeat. That is something we are completely lacking. I just hope with this pick we don't flub it entirely. Our track record recently in the first round has left a lot to be desired. Just get me a core player, that's all I ask.

I don't think we really necessarily need him to be elite, just above average. Even Jordan Gross was only a 3x PB, 1x AP player(for reference Trai Turner was a 5x PB). We just need him to be above average, like Moton. So far this year(knock on Tepper's head), he has been. That said, I am am not saying we should pass on some generational LT prospect with our numerous top 5-10 draft picks over the next few seasons. BPA, all the way. I am merely stating that LT is finally not really a big need again. I'm fine filling the other 30-40ish needs on the roster first.

There has never been a time in Huddle history that I am aware of where the collective Huddle(low IQ and unqualified as it may be) is so frequently by consensus right about draft picks versus the Panthers than the Tepper era. It's fuging mind numbing.

IMO, Canales may end up representing the high water mark for Panthers head coaches under Tepper. I am not saying we might not be able to afford some hot names again, but it's not going to be the cream of the current/past/prospective coaching crop. It's gonna be last gasps, money grabs or lesser tier "hot" candidates trying to jump the line.

I mean, we are laughing at this but consider that we probably aren't that far away from a move like this being a reality. What are we, one or two more injuries? If that? Someone has to suit up.

You gotta quit reading between the lines on all this horseshit. You are gonna end up like the numerology guy.

We have to assume based on the personality of the owner that there are a fugload of yes men in that building just shaking their heads up and down at every suggestion, without any idea other than protecting their own jobs. We are never gonna be successful that way. Never.

We are not a one season fixer upper and we should not approach fixing our situation as a "one year fix." That's literally how we ended up where we are with the worst roster in franchise history. We had successive years of "Oh we are building for the long ter.......fug IT!!!! WE NEED TO WIN NOW!!!" moves. Just focus on getting foundational elements for the future, be it through the draft(preferable) or through free agency(do not lean in on overpaying). The focus should be to add at least 2 multi-year starters every offseason. Not project players, no 34 year old journeymen, foundational elements of the franchise. Core players. Until we can actually start to pile those up, this is never gonna work at all. That allows the sort of luxury picks like taking a Brooks in the 2nd round and not worrying about the injury or PT. But bad teams with no core players cannot afford to "build" like that. Same with crazy reaches or trades(up or down) to get "your guy." That's not a successful strategy for a bad team, that's a luxury that a talent loaded team has.

VR is probably best suited to getting extra mental reps without piling up physical trauma. It's going to be fairly limited, however. At least right now. It might be easy to get some good reps reading defensive/offensive schemes but you aren't going to be able to work on physical aspects. Throwing a ball on VR is not going to be the same as IRL. Same with blocking a player or catching a ball or tackling, etc, etc. It's basically like playing online poker and live poker. You can get a fugload of reps, get quick with processing probabilities and maybe even become adept at pattern recognition but you won't be able to pick up physical tells or read people like you can at a real, live table.

3-5 wins. I didn't think Bryce would get pulled this early or the OL to be this good. I also didn't expect the defense to be historically bad, just regular bad. I am not sure what to think overall yet about direction.
