I don't see why anyone would consider Ekwonu starting at LG anything but bad news. We drafted him in the top 10 to be our LT. We will have to take some lumps and he might not have a Slater-esque start but I'd rather him get the reps and accelerate his learning curve than play LG.

Yeah, didn't like the pick given the options still available but if he's an above average depth OL then it definitely isn't a disaster. We probably still have a couple of offseasons of trying to fill out that OL but if we just improve from last year that is a step in the right direction.

Yeah, these aren't rare. I won't argue the point about player leadership because Rivera did have a very, very, very strong veteran led teams. I'm not sure if it's traits or just general inexperience/youth but we don't seem to have much if anything like that on our post-Rhule squads.

I think the "undersized" more so related to him doing some tough running in college that he is going to have to curtail in the NFL for longevity. Which, Cam was a massive, physical specimen and playing the way he did eventually cost him his career. He definitely can't be averaging over 9 carries per game like he did at Ole Miss.

Some linemen do have relatively long careers. If he develops he could have some time in the league as a high caliber player. I don't see it happening but it is possible.

It's just basically the difference in seeing one guy play versus not seeing one guy play. Christensen is more athletically talented but he was not good last year and didn't show much promise. Mays is a long shot and less talented guy in theory but he hasn't played a down of NFL football so there is still hope he can do something. I don't mean to say that there is no hope for BC but I think reality showed how steep of a hill he has to climb to be an NFL starter.

I think Brown was always fool's gold. Mike Wahle is right about what he says about him, IMO. If you keep struggling with weight issues you aren't doing what needs to be done to be an elite player. I suspect he will be gone as soon as this staff is.

Well, that depends on how much the cap skyrockets. It's projected to go up tremendously when the new TV deal money hits. So, that being the case, these contracts may not seem big at all in 5 years. Especially when compared to the cap. These contracts are a bet on the future cap going up a LOT.

I suspect we see the initial starting lineup as Ekwonu and Moton outside(obviously) and some combo of Elflein, Bozeman and Corbett inside. I think most other options are probably a little far fetched. If it doesn't work this way, I would think it's because Elflein struggles and we just generally have to make do from a bunch of less than stellar options available.

Yeah, Donte is likely to always be streaky. Not sure I would have given him that contract but he is probably the biggest ball hawk at CB the franchise has ever had. I will give him that.

He doesn't generate a lot of push because although he is a great athlete he is not very strong and his technique is still lacking. He is definitely a project player.

Well, I do believe in the talent level. Most of those guys were productive in college and have tested well athletically. But talent only goes so far in the NFL. You really need a lot more than just natural talent. I don't think CJ Henderson has shown that he is that interested in professional football yet. Taylor and Horn are just younger guys that we have to see what they have. I do think the ceiling is very high for them, I will say that.

Yeah, that's another thing. Maybe when Rhule is gone these players all perform better. Could be that he is such a disaster as a coach that he is dragging everything down. Or maybe his players are so bad that it's making him look bad. Which, he did pick most of them so that's kind of also on him. Or(most likely) it's some of both.

Yeah, our path to success isn't things being maintained at their former levels. It's a lot of players having breakout years or figuring out how to become good NFL starters/rotational guys. And most if not all of that having to happen in 2022 if Rhule is still gonna be around. That's why I can't get on board the "Oh we are right there" bandwagon. We MIGHT be close to being a playoff caliber roster, IF a LOT of things go well in 2022. Our roster has a lot more questions than it does answers.

That completely depends on what happens. In a scenario where an all new coaching staff and/or new GM are in place, who can say? Not saying it's likely but given the level of uncertainty in our short term, it's definitely not impossible. My general pessimism is largely rooted in the fact that Rhule is indeed the worst coach in the NFL(that I agree with ESPN on). It's very, very, very rare to see a turnaround from a team after two years as bad as Rhule has had. It's not impossible but I'd say it's highly improbable. I am also not sure how much talent the roster has at the moment. I'd on the edge of "bottom 10 in the NFL" or "top 12 in the NFL." That's sort of to be expected when the guys you are pinning your future hopes on are largely all players with less than 3 years in the league. That could go either way. The interesting thing will be to see if Tepper is so convinced of the current path that we stay the course, even if the outcome in 2022 is a poor one. That's going to be the real intrigue, IMO.
