BREAKING: Panthers signing former 1st round pick CB
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, The King Of Pop has played quite well. Troy Hill has been struggling somewhat. Maybe they want an upgrade there. -
BREAKING: Panthers signing former 1st round pick CB
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well it's not really DB that is getting decimated with injuries, so it's a little bit of a head scratcher. Maybe switching to a 3-2-6 defense?? -
Generally speaking he has actually played quite poorly. But, he's also very much one of our "project" players that is being forced into action. It's a good opportunity for him gain a ton of experience and reps while not really hurting us much due to the historically bad nature of our defense overall.
-
You mean historically?
-
Pick a stat and I can give a top 10 or bottom 10.
-
So what were you thinking? Bottom 10 ranking for each?
-
I can try. What kind of stats are you looking for?
-
Not a big deal. If you want specifics, just ask and I will dig them up. I want this to be informative.
-
Nah. I just like these little stats dives. Plus, look at how good our pass coverage actually is.
-
In terms of? I did put the rankings historically for all the categories.
-
Which category specifically?
-
I mean.....he is a core player potentially. Outside D. Brown and Shaq, it's a lot of "whodats."

I created a little spreadsheet to track some random items to see how this 2024 unit stacks up to previous Panthers years. I will try to update this a couple of times during the season for context. Everything is in a "per game" format. Pressures/GM are only from 2018 to current and QB Hits/GM are from 2006 to current. Sacks/GM 2024: 1.25 (30th all time) Least All Time: 2024 Most All Time: 2013, 1996 (3.75) QB Hits/GM(2006-current) 2024: 2.75 (19th all time) Least All Time: 2024 Most All Time: 2015 (7.44) Pressures/GM(2018-current) 2024: 3.25 (7th all time) Least All Time: 2024 Most All Time: 2019 (10.13) Points Per Game 2024: 32.35 Most All Time: 2024 Least All Time: 1996 (13.63) Total Yards Per Game Allowed 2024: 358.0 (24th All Time) Most All Time: 2011 (377.62) Least All Time: 2005 (282.62) Passing Yards Per Game Allowed 2024: 209.25 (10th All Time) Most All Time: 2016 (268.19) Least All Time: 2023 (171.53) Rushing Yards Per Game Allowed 2024: 148.75 (30th All Time) Most All Time: 2024 Least All Time: 2013 (86.94) Forced TO's/GM 2024: 1.25 (27th All Time) Least All Time: 2023 (0.65) Most All Time: 2005 (2.63) PFR Defensive Simple Rating System(overall defensive metric) 2024: -10.50 Least All Time: 2024 Most All Time: 2013 (8.6) If you have any other things you would liked tracked as far as defensive metrics/stats, let me know and I can add them in successive versions.

Albert Breer: Panthers WR’s possibilities for Chiefs
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I looked at the Cushion data too and it appears that he gets the least cushion of all our receivers. My guess is that it is influenced by several factors. I would assume he is usually drawing the best cover guy or extra coverage more often than the rest. He is also the slightest of all those WR's, so I would assume they are less likely to be worried about getting bodied if they are in press coverage. The rest is probably just the type of routes he is getting. -

But we may not have a choice in the matter. Let's say he just has no desire to come back here. You you to at least consider offers, at that point. There are a lot of factors we don't see. Team chemistry, morale, scheme fit, etc. -

I think it just depends on that "offer you can't refuse" aspect. It's tough to even think about trading him now because we are only 4 games in, finally looking competitive and AT is out. By game 6 or 7, things may be more clear, the price may be too good, etc. Honestly, if he had no desire to return at all, it would make sense to move him if we are still rattling off losses. The fear would be it takes some of the juice out of the offense and hurts morale -

You know, he actually has the least separation of any of our WR's per NFL Next Gen Stats. 2.4 yds. Behind Mingo, AT and XL(in that order). -

Especially for KC since their 1st rounder will basically be a 2nd. -
Why? He is technically our highest rated tackle(per PFF). I am all for loading up on OL but that seems foolish.
-
Yeah, he was a guy that came in at the wrong time with massive shoes to fill. Very underappreciated for sticking with this franchise through many a dumpster fire year. A solid but unspectacular Panther and a guy that deserves to be remembered fondly and not with the level of vitriol that some throw at him. By all accounts a very solid dude and excellent teammate.

Do we attempt to extend Diontae this season?
kungfoodude replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, we would be fools to not consider offers especially if Johnson has no intention on resigning here. So, we should at least have some preliminary discussions if very good trade offers are made. We have time before week 10. I really hope we don't hear any crazy poo like us turning down a 2nd, 3rd and 5th or some poo only for us to watch him just leave for free in thr offseason. -
The trade ideas being pitched in here are mostly retarded, if I am honest. The odds if him being moved before the offseason, very slim. The odds that he is going to fetch more than a mid round pick, also quite slim. Also, the insane level of hatred for the guy is a little bit much. He technically never did anything wrong. He played his cards right and got selected #1 overall. He tried his best(yes, that is what we are seeing despite all the insane takes) and it turns out he just isn't an NFL caliber QB. He didn't draft himself and he certainly didn't trade a massive haul to get himself. He is no more at fault than Rickey Williams was for having the Saints trade an entire draft class to get him. Take a breath, fuging focus on the fact that we have a new QB now and Bryce Young shouldn't be ruining your Sunday, unless you are quite literally mentally ill. Otherwise, this is rent free space you are allowing you to have in your own dome, which is basically schizophrenic behavior. This chapter will be over soon enough. Calm. Down.

Stop Being Insane(remaining season primer)

Yeah, ideally Brooks looks like the next man up and then Chuba can get his bag in free agency.
