  1. Well we have nuked the entire backup corps on our RDE depth chart. IDK what the plan is.
  2. Tough choice. Zylstra has played well for us in the past.
  3. I guess the question is whether he is better than Zylstra. Both are special teams/deep backup WR options. Do you need more than 1 of those on the roster? IDK. It would have been nice to keep him.
  4. This is going to be one of the most interesting positions to watch today for us. Not only how many we decide to keep but who we decide to keep.
  5. No, it was a 6th, so it was kind of dumb considering he couldn't make the roster at one of our thinnest and weakest positions. Not LS in the 6th or trading for Sam Darnold level of lightspeed stupid but still dumb.
  6. Yeah, that seems predictable. Just was not an NFL caliber guy.
  7. This feels like the Greg Little trade. Fine work by Fitterer.
  8. I actually like Mayfield although I don't know if I buy him having an elite ceiling anymore. The real test is going to be if Mayfield can overcome the coaching and lack of depth on the offensive line.
  9. A LOT of what Rhule has done is very Hurney-esque.
  10. He seems to be good at the high school level evaluation. He alluded to looking for athletic traits in his first season here, IIRC. And that does work when you have 4 years to coach a raw player up. It isn't the same kind of evaluation in the NFL and you aren't bringing in 25-30 possible players every year. You get maybe 6-10. The misses hurt a lot worse. You really need to be able to identify pro-caliber players and guys that have the motivation level to succeed at the NFL level. I don't think Rhule has that ability. The FO personnel probably does but I don't think Rhule himself does.
  11. It would be worth looking back at his college tape to see if he was getting separation in college or he was just being schemed open a bunch. I haven't seen very much evidence of him getting separation in the NFL. He didn't qualify for the minimum in 2021, so I can't see him on NFL Next Gen Stats to see how he did.
  12. I mean, consider him telling the stories of Phil Snow saying Darnold looked like Matt Stafford and Rhule's wife remembering how well Hubbard played against Baylor. Not sure this guy completely has a grasp on how to evaluate guys at the NFL level.
  13. I think his future will be determined by three things: 1. The new coaching staff. 2. If we re-sign Baker Mayfield. 3. Our draft position in the first round. Any individual one of those factors going against him could push him pretty far down the depth chart. Now, I will say that if we decide to resign Baker to a long term deal, a great deal of pressure for him to develop may immediately disappear. So, in theory he could be a long term #2 QB that gets better and better. That would be a home run for a 3rd round pick QB.
  14. Imagine being a Saints fan and think your team was in a good place as a franchise? They lost the two biggest elements(Payton, Brees) that got them all their glory in successive years. Regarding Brees choking. 2020 Playoffs: As a 2nd seed lost to the 5th seed. 2019 Playoffs: As the 3rd seed lost to the 6th seed. 2018 Playoffs: As the 1st seed lost to the 2nd seed. 2017 Playoffs: As the 4th seed lost to the 2nd seed. 2013 Playoffs: As a 6th seed lost to the 1st seed. 2011 Playoffs: As the 3rd seed lost to the 2nd seed. 2010 Playoffs: As a 5th seed lost to the 4th seed. 2009 Playoffs: As 1st seed beat AFC 1st seed. SB Champs 2006 Playoffs: As the 2nd seed lost to the 1st seed. So I guess actually the Brees Saints played to seed 67% of the time to a 33% choke ratio. All at the end of his career, as well.
  15. Yeah well he looks more like a 1 star player in the NFL. Feel free to scoop him up when he gets cut.
  16. The thing Drew really did best was take a winning situation and not be able to capitalize on it. I mean....Pat Mahomes drug a weak defense to a SB title. Joe Burrow almost did. I guess that is what real elite talent does, not need everything to be perfect around them in the playoffs.
  17. I thought the trade was completely foolish. He was a terrible player that showed very little potential. He lived up to that reputation. The extension had me livid.
  18. Nah. Daley is better than Moton. The numbers are in.
  19. The sad part is that there was WAAAAAY less flak from the Darnold trade than the Baker trade. I am starting to think Panther fans just literally have forgotten what skill at the QB position actually looks like.
  20. Well, Brees was indeed a HOF player. Both the NFL HOF and the football choking HOF.
  21. TMJ isn't an NFL caliber player. That is starting to become pretty evident.
  22. Sam has always seemed like he was a deer in the headlights, even off the field.
