At somewhere near his current salary, sure. I don't think he is going to have any desire to come here unless all 31 other teams pass, however.
-
Stafford is dinged up constantly. Why on earth would he want to come to the worst franchise in the NFL? He is going to end his career with the Rams.
-
Eh....on paper that is a big upgrade but time isn't being super kind to Wilson. Not nearly as elusive as he once was. Not sure a 38 year old Russell is much more than another 1 year rental. Now, pair him with a good, young drafted QB....I am in. Let the vet take a seasons worth of bullets while we keep building.

Ya'll are something else. Stop dumpster diving for QB's.
-
Tepper your expectations, my son.

We seem slightly more prone as a franchise than most to the sunk cost fallacy. If you realize your mistake, pivot ASAP and recoup what assets you can. Holding onto these guys for dear life in the hopes they will eventually pan out is tying up valuable resources spent developing better assets(hopefully).

Yeah, Darnold I still believe will be a career backup and he is trending that direction. I was a Baker fan before he came here and never really bought the line about him being washed. Nor do I buy the line about him being some big turnaround. He is performing the best of his career but it isn't insanely better than with Cleveland. He was always a good NFL QB. I think it's more his progression/experience as an NFL player that is leading to the improvements. But you see why I harp so much on evaluation failures. This is the most critical flaw in our attempts to build anything cohesive here. You gotta be able to identify actual NFL caliber talent.

Name a guy we have drafted since 2018 that has had greater success elsewhere than they had here? I can tell you after looking, there aren't any. Hence why I keep saying this is an evaluation issue.
-
That's not what Bryce was pitched to be. Nor was the, what, 4th or 5th Tepper rebuild iteration? That's the problem with all this. You trade all this draft capital up to get these guys(Bryce, XL, etc) and then when they get their opportunities they can't hack it. As I have said many times, I view this as less of a development issue as I do an evaluation issue. We just suck at identifying talent correctly. It fails us all too often. If it was solely development, so many of these guys that left here after being failed draft picks would be studs. That is literally almost never the case.
-
Maybe had he been drafted where he was supposed to, 2nd/3rd round by a team that didn't have immediate and critical needs at his position then it would have been different. I generally tend to not believe that but at least he could have developed where he needs to, buried on a depth chart and with no pressure to perform.

INB4 Milroe is ineffective Alabama QB #4 in a row. The curse of Jalen Hurts continues.
-
Tua might be Bryce's ceiling at this point.

https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1968764235833282870 Awesome! He dealt with these issues at SC too so if we just wait it out until the 2028 season, we are good to go!

It's a waste of a pick, TBH. I suppose given how poorly we draft, there is certainly an argument for doing so. Both Howell and Winston would be very capable hands to land us a #1 overall pick.
-
I don't really think that is going to be the case here, especially given track record and results. It would be nice, since Morgan is a Panther. I just don't see any indication of that.
-
The time to do that has passed. It was during the offseason and the draft. I mean....the message was sent years ago when this roster was destroyed and subsequently never went anywhere.
-
Burns was and is not worth what he is getting paid(like you are saying about Brown). Good player, for sure, but never has been dominant. Likely never will be.
-
That's one of those bets you really have to convince an IRL sportsbook to do, typically for a pretty large wager. I have been trying to get one to give me favorable odds on Panthers not having a winning season before 2030 for the past two offseasons. No takers yet, even though I offered a five figure bet up.

I am pretty sure I am not the one sounding ridiculous lauding a guy that looks like a poor man's Kyle Allen. But, carry on.
-
He does seem to allow GM's more rope than HC's. I assume that is just "access" so to speak.
-
Smitty had that dawg in him. XL has a sea slug in him.

You paid attention to that roster down there at all? Did that logic work for Howell/Winston when they were starting? How about Josh Rosen? JaMarcus Russell? I guess starting in the NFL is now the litmus test for being a good NFL starter? All hail HOF QB, PJ Walker!
