Yeah and I think for both the loudest saber rattlers were casual or non-NFL fans. Especially Kaepernick. The people who hated him the most didn't watch a lick of NFL football. At least hate him for the valid reasons of him being a mediocre QB on his absolute best day. Panthers fans have a whole different reason to have hated him, when he mocked Cam.

The Golden Calf of Bristol's. Those guys were completely nuts

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
kungfoodude replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's just being wantonly myopic in the approach. I don't care as much about measurables or RAS or whatever as I do actual football abilities. If the athletic profile is excellent, even better. Mind you, the players need to be physically capable of playing the game. Rudy wasn't an NFL movie. -

Nah, I can't just dismiss based on "needs to meet X measurables." I wouldn't want to do that per se. -
I remember the times of how the Huddle bitched about not drafting enough athletes. Then we switched to purely athletes with no abilities. Oh how the turns have tabled.

I think you are missing the point. All these guys had elite attributes. Arm strength, accuracy, athleticism, etc. Those were things Bryce didn't truly have. So, look AT THE BARE MINIMUM for that as a starting point. -

Well Brees, Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray don't particularly look like NFL QB's but they all at least had elite attributes. How about start there? -

Historically bad. -
It closes yet another chapter of Panthers bumbling.

Perfect Way to Sum up how poo the Panthers Are.

Because he has the confidence of a complete and utter moron. -
Do you get a SB ring working the stadium beer stand?

I bet that original draft thread is a HYSTERICAL read.

Several more drafts if we start drafting competently in 2026. If we keep on the current course, there is no real end to this in sight. The biggest danger is not figuring it out consistently, always remaining in the bottom 5 in roster quality and then your minimal core assets start aging out or going elsewhere. TBH, I think we will have a winning season around the early 2030's but it's not guaranteed. I shudder to think that perhaps we are merely halfway through the true suck. That fear is always at the back of my mind.

I mean, the entire franchise got razed to the ground during the Rhule era. It didn't get better since.

Yeah, if we can get a QB, HC, DC, FO, most of a defense, almost all depth, probably a kicker and a competent owner....we are probably right there
-
We always downgrade at K. It's a Panthers tradition.

Who was if simping for Browning? This dude sucks.

Tyrod is a significantly better QB than Fields.
-
TBH, not sure we are gonna get anywhere near that when we unload him.

I would imagine Bryce is a guy that does well behind the scenes, possibly impresses in film study, etc. XL on the other hand....I am gonna guess he doesn't impress basically anywhere.

Official Week 4: Panthers at Patriots Gameday Thread
kungfoodude replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am pretty unimpressed by the 2025 draft holdovers. Beck, Allar, Nussmeier, etc. So far it looks heavy with Day 2 and 3 QB's early. Time will tell. I am less concerned about the QB at the moment. The team is too bad. This team needs talent and playing ability. Not ceiling, not RAS BS. Players that can become core guys. IDGAF if that is a QB or not. Just get players. -
I still think we will do the exact same thing as we keep doing, as well. We will can the coach first, hire a new one, then can the GM and hire another with a inherited HC.
-
I would say Dalton is perfectly capable of doing as good or better of a job of that(which is to say, not very) as any of these 3rd string gunslingers people want to bring it. The logistics of all of this don't even make any sense, regardless. You aren't going to see them prepared in the full offense until damn near the end of the season. Remember, none of those guys were in camp with us at all. Frankly, for guys like Winston and Howell, it's questionable that they are ever really able to fully grasp just about any offensive system. They typically revert to, "CHICKS DIG THE LONG BALL!" pretty quickly.

I think people massively underestimate how much the Tepper thing will haunt all future hires. There are people who won't come here, no matter the price he attempts to throw at them.

I don't think piling up TO's is gonna answer much in the way of coaching questions. If you actually had a GOOD NFL QB, it might. And, TBH, we do actually know the answer to the Canales question. It's just a matter of accepting it.
