  1. It sucks to lose to this team. It makes no sense to get dominated by a team like this. Eventually we just have to make the most of our situation and be better than we can.
  2. So, what are the thoughts on 2022 now that our season is basically over? I have to assume Dougie is gone. Who is Seattle taking? Where are we headed as a franchise?
  3. That's because most use the much more common "acclimate."
  4. I don't think it's always about the work. I don't doubt that Darnold puts in the work to be successful. Some players just can't process information at an NFL level or have the competitive drive to be great. I'd point you to the really excellent article ESPN did on the Jared Goff situation after the Stafford trade. I thought that had a lot of good "inside baseball" tidbits about why the coach eventually lost faith in him. Sometimes no matter what the skillset or ability, you just don't have what it takes to be a great player in the NFL. That happens to the majority of these guys coming into the league. That's the thing, it's not really right to be mad at Darnold if he doesn't pan out. He is probably maximizing the abilities that he has.
  5. Yeah, that's basically over offset language and signing bonus structure. Those are appreciably the only really things that are possible to even negotiate. Those protracted disagreements don't happen that often, in fact they are quite rare in the modern era.
  6. Well, he has also never been healthy for a full 16 game schedule in his career. This is something that probably doesn't get talked about enough.
  7. I don't think rookie holdouts were really much of a thing since they went to a rookie scale for the draft in 2011. The disagreements are limited because there isn't much leeway on the contracts, other than some finer details(still important).
  8. For reference, he would only have to beat.... Passing YDS: 3024 Passing YDS/GM: 232.6 Passing TDS: 19 Passing TDS/GM: 1.5 INTS: 11 INTS/GM: 0.92 Completion %: 61.9 Rushing YDS: 217 Rushing TDS: 2
  9. Otah was good. He just got injured. I am not sure there is even a close Hurney comparison to how bad Little flamed out. Maybe Clausen?
  10. There is a scale, the details are the only points of negotiation. There is little reason to holdout.
  11. Interestingly, Darnold was the 12th most aggressive passer in 2019 and 5th most aggressive in 2018.
  12. He isn't on the extreme end of the gunslingers, like Favre/Winston. You just have to weigh the benefits of the bone headed throws/decisions with the highlight reel lasers into tight windows. He was actually the 11th LEAST aggressive QB last season according to NFL Next Gen Stats. So, really he just needs to actually complete passes accurately more than anything.
  13. The writing was on the wall on draft day. Just another Hurney bust.
  14. Well, Sam is a gunslinger. I don't think whether he is a starter or backup in this league that you are going to see him limit his INT'S. It is the price you pay fornthr gunslinger QB.
  15. I don't think there are many ultra Fields fanboys in the Huddle. I think it's more Darnold skeptics and also the crowd that just wanted a shiny new QB versus a Salvation Army QB. The allure of the unknown commodity QB gets fan bases year after year during the draft.
  16. This is exactly what I mean when I say some people here aren't actually fans if the team at all. If you care more about the "I told you so's" on a fuging internet message board than how the actual team and players perform, you are not a fan of the team. At. All.
  17. The Jets would only be embarrassed if Wilson is the new Sam Darnold. Then the spotlight becomes, "WTF are the Jets doing to ruin QB's???!"
  18. TE, QB and likely OL will be below average on offense in 2021. Even so, we have the weapons to be a an upper half of the league offense. The only things that can torpedo us are bad QB play and/or bad OL play. Both are certainly possible.
  19. The "it's not your money" crowd is just plain idiotic. It's basically saying whatever decision the franchise makes is above reproach and we the fans have no right to question. That is completely moronic.
  20. If Darnold is making 100+ mil here the next 5 years then this math basically becomes less relevant. Even if Fields is as good as Darnold, you have your guy finally and you are just glad as a franchise you do. It creates more juggling every offseason but it's a lot easier to deal with that when you have a franchise QB.
  21. Okay, wasn't sure what your bar was for that. I don't personally believe everyone has to be a Peyton Manning type to be successful in the NFL(look at Aaron Rodgers, for instance). Apparently Rhule is VERY vocal and animated, so I am not sure I see that in Darnold. He seems to be a "by example type."
  22. Yeah, IIRC, didn't he have a better offer somewhere else?
