  1. Yeah, hence the "so far." I think it will really depend on the OL and Darnold. If those guys flop, it will likely tank anything that the others can do. Like I said, though, we seem to be quick to learn and adjust so I am a lot more okay with these flops than a Hurney or Gettleman flop signing. We were saddled with those for years and sometimes for vast sums of money(Kalil). With these guys, it is almost a point for improvement rather than a franchise altering mistake.
  2. Underrated comment. The upside is that we see how quickly we are able to switch gears(look at the Teddy trade). The downside is that we keep making these terrible signings. I hope that our 2022 free agent offseason is a big upgrade because 2021 has been pretty bad so far.
  3. With the benefit of hindsight, it is sometimes still unreal how fuging bad Gettleman and Hurney's draft picks were. If you want to see why we have never had back-to-back winning seasons, look no further than those two bums.
  4. This is true. I don't want to see it and will be upset if it happens but the Huddle overreactions would soften the blow of that awful loss a little bit. How many all caps threads would there be within the first 24 hours? Definitely more than 6.
  5. I'd probably rather actually just forfeit the game against them. At this point the risk of this curse accidentally rubbing off on us might be more harmful than losing to them. I don't even want to be in the same stadium as them.
  6. Smith was 5-9, so probably plays more like he is 4-9.
  7. Might be one of the worst 6th round draft picks in franchise history.
  8. You mean like the statistical facts about his NFL career? You really want me to post them again, Joey?
  9. Agreed. He is going to have to have a top 10-12 type season for me to even think about an extension after one year. The lows were just too low in his career. I actually agree that he needs at least two years of above average play to get a chance at an extension.
  10. I am going to paint a scenario that I in absolutely no way, shape or form believe is even remotely possible....but here goes......let's say he has an MVP caliber season in 2021? Do you still make him play that last year of his deal?
  11. Well, Brady was a 33, Cam was a 21, Russell Wilson was a 28, Peyton Manning was 28, Pat Mahomes was a 24... Josh Rosen was a 29, Brock Osweiler was a 25, Johnny Manziel was 32, David Carr was 24, Jimmy Clausen was a 23, Fitzmagic was 48, Eli Manning was a 39.... In truth, I think this has been looked at before and the Wonderlic didn't have much correlation with NFL success.
  12. Well, the issue with that is that he only has this season and next. So, if he blows up this year, do you risk that last year of his deal to be a tiebreaker? I suppose we have a franchise tag to use on him to extend that period. Which......I am completely down to have the "problem" of having to decide how much to pay a QB that has been playing lights out for us.
  13. That could be it too. The lack of soul would make that a likely situation.
  14. Yes, he's a ginger. It's the lack of soul that prevents him from understanding things.
  15. And Robby will be 30 when he is in the last year of his deal. That's normally about the time span you expect a WR to start their decline. Similar to how the CMC deal was, we seem to have hit the mark on the average time an NFL player is effective at their position when we structured some of these deals. Intentional or not.
  16. This too. Lots of preseason MVP's had really short NFL careers. I like what I see from them but let's wait until they are top 5 rookies AFTER the season before we talk of tough decisions on personnel in the WR corps.
  17. I remember my opinion on Cam Newton being drafted by us. I have mentioned it in here many times. "Biggest mistake in franchise history." Pretty happy to have been proven so wholly wrong and watched arguably the best player in franchise history. Same with Luke. Wasn't against the player, just didn't see it as a "need." Loved every moment of his career. None of us are right all the time. But very few own up to their incorrect opinions when they are faced with hindsight. Especially when they have such strong opinions they fought so vehemently about. That's a class of people that I simply cannot understand. IMO, there is likely less than a 5% chance this Sam Darnold experiment works out and I am being VERY generous. However, I am not gonna come on here throwing out the "I told you so's" if we are taking losses as he fugs it up left and right. Nor am I going to shy away from that view if he lights it up and becomes a true franchise star. The point of being a fan is to want the best for your team. If you want the best for your argument or opinion just to score points with anonymous people on the internet OVER the success of your team.....well......you really aren't a fan at all, are you? Those people deserve to be highlighted and scorned.
  18. I don't see a big reason for concern. Is it possible that they don't see him in the future plans? Yes. Is it likely? No. The biggest question will be what DJ wants and will we be willing(or really should we) pay it. I don't think we should infer anything about their intentions for DJ Moore from the Robby deal.
  19. No doubt. I just did a big West Coast trip(WA, OR, CA) so I saw the good and the bad. No place is as homogenous as people left, right and center like to stereotype.
