100% accurate. Him not improving would be a absolute fuging disaster. As you said, the question is how much and will it be enough to get our franchise back on track?
-
Plenty of times. I have never seen a tear down like that in the history of our franchise. It was the most obvious rebuild I have ever seen.
-
No doubt but the results didn't indicate that, even before the season.
-
Yep. I was a staunch defender of all things Carolina early in our history when our early success was historic, our overall winning percentage was high and we genuinely looked like we had our poo together. Since that time, we settled into wild swings in success mixed with large swathes of mediocrity. That's how you end up with only 26% of your seasons with a winning record.
-
It was a rebuild when you jettisoned most of the talent from the roster. Doesn't matter if Hurney was on board or not, it was pretty clearly a rebuild. And we have no idea who is on what page. We just know we have new people. We'll know that in a few years....maybe.
-
Agreed. We didn't lay down last year so if we show that, I will be pissed.
-
I think winning needs to be here in 2022. It isn't panic time with a losing record in 2021.
-
It's year two. I realize Hurney has skewed our initial rebuild attempt but this is year two in actuality. This offseason is the first time we will get a good idea about our new FO and coaches though. This is all "new regime" guys now. They take all the credit and all the blame. And, no, fan expectations are rarely realistic. Some of the dolts we have in here predicting wild success next season or epic failures based on whatever hormonal issues they are struggling with that overrides all logic.

I have never understood the hate for DJ. That dude has been fantastic for us. -
Yeah, I don't understand the need for revisionist history or denial. I have been there for the whole ride, the good, the bad and the ugly. As a Panthers fan, I will remain skeptical because of who we have been. But, it's easy to be hopeful about the core we are building on the team. Perhaps this is indeed the regime to bring us to consistent success. Either way, I think all of the Panther OG's feel the same way. Just waiting and watching for that time to come.

What's Brenton Bersin doing? -
Indeed, our lows have been as low as anyone's but they are luckily as rare as our Super Bowl appearances. The lucky thing is actually that our youth as a franchise means our climb out of the cellar isn't that far. Look at the history of the New Orleans Saints and their place on the all time lists for a good reference for how you can dig a whole that takes forever to to recover from.

It was me. We have had 7 total winning seasons in 27 seasons. Pretty sure no one would consider that successful. Doesn't mean we haven't had successes but they are few and far between. Frankly, we are far closer to the bottom of the NFL in our existence than the top. I always reiterate that when our fans get a little uppity about our place or why we don't get the benefit of the doubt nationally(although being a small market team has a lot to do with that, as well). We are who we are. The challenge is to be better.

The question about Darnold has always been his mental abilities. Which, he probably should have never been drafted where he was considering his overall derth of actual experience playing QB at any level. Those reps matter a LOT for developing a player. Right now the bulk of the reps in his entire quarterback career were with the Jets. Compare that to someone like Trevor Lawrence, who basically grew up playing football and quarterback. That is tens of thousands of reps and hours that he is already ahead of a guy like Darnold in his development. Doesn't mean he can't bridge that gap but everyone seemed to have looked past how little experience he actually had coming into the NFL.

I can't help you are a hypersensitive and emotional child. Sorry about you being immune to humor. I feel sorry for you.

Not my fault you can't read or comprehend. Try sounding out those team videos better next time.

Not super surprising the joke went over your head.
-
I wasn't.

I am genuinely perplexed by fans that get huffy and butthurt when I say we are a bad franchise historically. We do all of the bad franchise things. Remove the two Super Bowl appearances appearances and our accomplishments get really thin, really quickly. I think original Panthers fans actually begrudgingly know this, versus a lot of our Cam era fans that just jumped on later.
-
He is probably our best playmaker we have had in the secondary in a while. If he was Troy Pride's size we probably don't draft Horn.
-
I knew it. He's our new QB or LT.
-
In the CB's versus WR's battles, do you feel like we are as good of a unit as last year in the WR ranks? Who is standing out the most at CB and WR? Doesn't necessarily have to be the new players, just who are the stand out guys overall.
-
I don't think we are reinventing the wheel. You have to keep in mind most of these guys haven't been around the NFL much.
-
And his stats say that he doesn't really make good decisions from a clean pocket. The best way to attempt to fix that is rep after rep in that situation. He needs to be forced to go through progressions over and over and over. That way we can hopefully coach him on the right and wrong decisions he is making. As much hate as we piled on Teddy, he was very capable of finding guys open quickly. It's just that it typically was someone within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.
