Any overly positive or negative reactions from watching 90% of players who will be riding the pine, on special teams or cut is absolutely hilarious. As I stated in a other thread, we may have never played a more meaningless preseason game in franchise history. If you are crowing about being right about anything at the moment, you are probably just kind of dumb.
-
We are also seeing only a handful of players that matter. Seeing scrub vs. scrub is really pretty worthless for determining much regarding our actual team fortunes.
-
Has there ever been a preseason game we have played that has ever meant less than this one?? It would be tough to think of one.

Rhule was trying to "hold" the lead today ?

It would be pretty tough to be much worse than Slye. I will take any UDFA or FA over Slye, at this point. I don't know that we have ever fielding a kicker(certainly for this length of time) who has so conclusively proven that they are not NFL caliber. -

This concerns me more than the "holding the lead" nonsense. -
You spelled "Joey Slye" wrong.

What the Indianapolis Colts media is saying about the joint practice
kungfoodude replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The big concern is that we have so many injury prone offensive lineman. That's precisely how you end up with some of those bums playing in the positions they were yesterday. -
I would rather watch Christensen suck and take lumps with the hope he might get better than a veteran who has sucked his entire career continue to suck
-
Darnold is far from a "tall lumbering, old school statue." He is a fairly athletic dude. Don't disagree with all of what you said but I have to defend Darnold here. He is an above average athlete for QB in the NFL.

Agreed. This is clearly year two. I don't necessarily even need .500. Give me .500 with a clear path to above. 500. Let's say that the biggest issues are OL and QB(for instance). That means we have limited slots to fill. That works for me. In Rhule's career, he has always been a third year guy. This should be a transition year if that pattern holds. -
Unfortunately, you just don't look as bad as he does and it be okay. Even more unfortunately, it was since his rookie year. Another Hurneymagic pick.
-
He will be better than Teddy in some regards and also worse. It will be a hindsight discussion to see how it all worked out. Ideally, in our favor.
-
You calm down with that negative thought process!
-
This is a good point. Even if we suck hard at pass protection, these same scrubs may be very solid at run blocking.
-
He could be good for 6-7 games.
-
We had two straight years to do that. I think we will find out that they finally value it as a position this offseason.
-
I agree with this. Even if Moton is our best LT, if the drop from LT to RT is greater than the replacement RT, zero reason to do that. Put the best overall unit out there and roll with it. It is too late to fix now. Just make the best of what you have.
-
Yeah, that one irked me too. I think that is a very valuable asset to have in defined backup OL but we seem to think we can elevate "versatile" OL into regular starters. Gotta be good at something first....
-
Agreed. If Christensen really looked better, stop the Ron Rivera poo and get him some reps. We already know Elflein and Erving are trash. Years of proving that on file
-
Pretty much. It is what it is. Not much we can do about it now. I definitely don't want to see them make a panic trade and give up too much. If there is a path to improve cheaply or a path to improve long term for a reasonable price, I am all in.
-
Shhhh....don't be "negative."
-
In fairness, I don't think most NFL teams had him projected as a LT due to physical attributes. I don't think that would have been different most other places in the NFL.
-
Unfortunately, Darnold will likely be graded the same he was in NY, without much protection. But, the NFL is a big boy league, if he doesn't step up, not much we can do with him. QB's that need absolutely perfect conditions aren't likely to lead us to a title anyway.

Not great but not panic material.
