  1. Hard to blame the defense when they produced the bulk of the points we had and were on the field 10+ minutes more because of how badly the offense shat the bed. Not to mention the short fields due to boneheaded INT's and bad fumbles. If you didn't notice in the 4th/OT, they were fuging gassed.
  2. Also, since we are on the subject of Teddy not being able to throw it deep: Passes over 20 yards(source is NFL Next Gen Stats) Teddy 2020 8/17, 250 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Passer Rating: 88.48 Teddy 2021 5/15, 172 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 99.86 Darnold 2021 9/24, 284 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 96.53 Boy those 2020 and 2021 results seem pretty similar......
  3. You are wasting your breath arguing with the resident Darnold superfan. Logic and statistics are lost on him. He just sees his hero being mildly attacked and he goes into a frenzy.
  4. It isn't half the time. Teddy has started 55 games, Darnold has started 44 games. Remember Teddy was out of the league for a while with that leg injury. Also, I don't mean to be flippant but this drive that everyone was crowing about was a losing effort. That wasn't a game winning drive. Glad to see it but it would have made more of an impact if it wasn't preceded by 3+ quarters of shitting the bed. If anything, it is a microcosm of his career. 75% awful and 25% great. It's why he has failed so miserably.
  5. This is actually the better breakdown. Passes over 20 yards(source is NFL Next Gen Stats) Teddy 2020 8/17, 250 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Passer Rating: 88.48 Teddy 2021 5/15, 172 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 99.86 Darnold 2021 9/24, 284 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 96.53
  6. IDK about that. He is literally one of the only players on that defense that shows any leadership capability. Not sure we should jettison that so quickly.
  7. @Harbingers Passes over 20 yards(source is NFL Next Gen Stats) Teddy 2020 8/17, 250 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Passer Rating: 88.48 Teddy 2021 5/15, 172 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 99.86 Darnold 2021 9/24, 284 yards, 1 TD. Passer Rating: 96.53 Relatively similar results, honestly. Sam definitely taking more shots downfield which isn't surprising.
  8. Let me take a look at Darnold and Teddy's deep passing through six games and see what the stats say.
  9. I'll give you a hint, look at the first post in the thread.
  10. I believe that Brock still holds the NFL record for $/GM in NFL history. Edit: It might be $/snap. I can't remember which.
  11. You mean the red zone stats that led to losses, kind of like these stats that are leading to losses? I bet you can't guess how well Teddy was doing through 6 games in 2020.
  12. You mean the drive after 4 quarters of nothing that resulted in a loss?
  13. Lol. Yeah, Darnold is really bad but people forget some of the poo we have seen at that position in our history.
  14. I would say that having a better OL would be the fix but he struggles as much or more when he has time to throw. Case in point, that INT to start the Vikings game. He has what, 5-6 seconds? Everyone was covered and he tries to force the ball throwing across the field in a position that any college QB knows you can't throw that ball. That's the issue with Sam Darnold. There is absolutely no evidence he is learning or improving his decision making or processing.
  15. Redzone INT's are always crippling. It just helps that you are playing the Lions. Listen, if they opt for PJ at some point this season, so be it. I just don't think any of us are going to head into 2022 saying, "Boy I really think we got something in this Walker kid!" More like the 2019 season when we ended it thinking, "Three QB's and not a one of them worth a fug."
  16. As bad as the last two losses have looked, we have more team positives than team negatives, IMO. I said as much after the Philly loss. The talent on this team is undeniable and when you have a guy like Taylor step in and play well and then a guy like Luvu play like a monster, it just shows how much better this roster is getting. For QB and OL, there isn't much if any hope but the roster holes are pretty limited after that. It won't be in 2021 and probably not 2022 but this team has the makings of a serious contender.
  17. Agreed. Our struggles offensively have been equal parts terrible OL play, terrible QB play and terrible playcalling. I think if any two of the three were better, the remaining one would be so bad it caused an issue ultimately. I get that the cards Brady has been dealt have been poo but a real offensive genius would be able to get the maximum out of the turds they had, even if only so much shine could be put on them. Brady isn't able to do that.
  18. I don't think we need to try and get a QB from this 2022 crop. We have precious little draft resources left and our OL needs are critical and much easier to hit on than a QB. Perhaps a FA QB would be available that is an improvement from Darnold. I'm all for that route, as well. Preferably a solid veteran and not a reclaimation bust.
  19. I think Teddy is a better overall QB because you do know what you are getting out of him, as little as that is. I definitely see how Teddy can make it appear he is better than he actually is. Sam is just too frenetic to be successful. The gunslinger types need to have more highs than lows and Sam doesn't have that. It's why bad gunslingers appear to be so fuging bad. But, neither of them are what a successful NFL franchise would ever want.
  20. I can't say that I would put all that on Brady. The playcalling however.......no bueno. If there is a staff sacrificial lamb this season, I'd put money on him being the one.
