  1. If you are going to envision building the OL, it literally starts with a LT. It is the most difficult to find lineman in the NFL and one of the most difficult positions to find an elite player. Also, if you are going to envision a future good offensive line, the only player on this roster in the discussion is Moton. All the rest of them are backups at the extreme best.
  2. What is so crazy is that as great of a prospect as Horn is, we went out and got good at CB without him. So.....did we even need to take a CB??? You want to give credit for addressing a need and then they sort of fug themselves in the process by showing how quickly you can improve that position.
  3. If you get a chance to get an elite LT and you pass, you may as well just shut the doors to the franchise. You don't pass that up for IOL. Make no mistake, we aren't gonna fix the OL in only one offseason. So we have to get something. Ideally 1-2 competent starters. That is a start. It is a lot easier for 2-3 good offensive linemen to cover up for 2-3 shitty ones. Plus we do have free agency. I assume we will have to hire a consultant of some sort to evaluate them, since our coaching staff and front office have never seen what a competent offensive lineman looks like. If they could just take their top 10 favorite guys in free agency and just immediately mark them off the list. That would help.
  4. Boy, it sure would have been nice to take the 13th highest rated OT in the NFL currently, Rashawn Slater in the first round....
  5. Good guards and centers are easier to find than LT's. You can get a good guard or center in the 2nd or 3rd round, not so much LT's. We just suck at all three of those things.
  6. Yeah, if there is a can't miss OL prospect, just fuging take the guy.
  7. That is why I want to go OL with our first. Or trade down to get more 2nd and 3rd one picks, which we solely use on OL. We have to get at least one sure starter out of this next offseason, preferably two.
  8. Yeah, he stepped into an impossible situation. I am not sure he is gonna be able to get out of that one. He should honestly be trying to find the least painful way out.
  9. None of the above. Rattler is a late round pick, if he is even draftable. Howell and Willis have a LOT of warts. Howell has a moderately high ceiling but a low floor. Willis has a high ceiling and a REALLY low floor.
  10. So he is averageish. It's not a theory I am specifically married to, just something I thought when we hired him. I will continue to watch his career after and see if my hunch is correct.
  11. Yeah, it's possible I am misreading it but it is something I am curious to see.
  12. Sam is better than Clausen. Not enough better to matter but he is better than Clausen. Sam is more of the Weinke/Peete class of Panthers QB.
  13. As assistants, this is true. Usually head coaches tend to stick around a little longer.
  14. I think he sticks it out one more season, assuming Tepper doesn't throw a poo fit and fire him. Do I think it impossible that he may eventually leave before he gets canned? No.
  15. Baylor was not much of an upgrade at that time. Certainly monetarily it was. I just have the two data points but if you look, he bounced around quite a bit as an assistant, as well. Temple was the longest he has ever stayed at job in football. That is kind of what makes me think maybe he is just generally a job hopper. We will know in the next few years.
  16. It would be an odd decision to leave a very high paying NFL job to go back to college but then again Rhule has never stayed anywhere long. I have always sort of wondered if he just really wants to build and then bolt.
  17. He is a good QB who is an insane choke artist. Sort of a poor man's Drew Brees. He would probably excel in our offense.
  18. I mean a QB good enough to GET us to mediocre. That's slightly different. It is why I said I wanted someone like Tyrod Taylor while we rebuild the OL. Just someone to be competent and take care of the ball. Then we can go get our QB in any draft we care to trade the farm to move up and get. IMO, this isn't that draft. For me, I would rather get a 10 years starter on that OL.in the first than shoot for the moon on a high bust potential QB. Especially given my thoughts on this QB class.
  19. Tepper is supposedly impulsive, so it may come down to whether someone can talk him off a ledge if he gets pissed and wants to can Rhule. I will say that as much faith as I am losing in Rhule, I don't want us to get a reputation as being the team that has a crazy owner. That isn't going to allow us to hire good candidates in the future.
  20. If accurate, then Houston isn't budging. This may drag into the 2022 season if so. Depends on how stubborn the Texans are and the result of the civil cases against Watson. Eventually they are going to stop paying him and come after his money if they can't get a trade worked out.
  21. It's a way to get it to mediocre, which is better than we are. Obviously, I understand the mixed feelings about that rather than just sucking hard and continuing to get high draft picks.
  22. He isn't a prospect I love but I think he has the best chance of being successful. I also think his ceiling is relatively low. Of the higher ceiling prospects, they just have so many warts. Howell, Willis, etc. Really big bust factor on those guys. At the moment, a steady starter is the best thing for us. It allows further building to happen while we aren't getting shelled in games.
  23. If we had good deals waiting for us, they would be on the table. That's what I mean, unless we are getting great offers from other front offices and turning them down. If so, they are getting vetoed somewhere and there isn't much we can do. I think Rhule is safe even at 3-14. I believe he will jettison Brady and then the Rhule hot seat will be cranked to 11 in 2022. I also expect to see the FO and Rhule forced to take a QB in the draft.
  24. I tend to like Pickett more. In the offense we have, we really need a guy that can process the field and make throws really quickly, especially behind this line. There is bad tape of Willis looking AWFUL when he gets pressured regularly. That is what he would be getting early in his career here. If we had a different offense(which we may in 2022 at this rate) and a better OL, Willis would make some sense.
