  1. Well I am starting from the assumption(which is not wise considering the Darnold move) that the draft capital we are offering is pretty low(5th round or later). The one year rental makes sense if you are about to get fired. There is a level of everyone involved here probably realizing that the end may well be nigh if they keep losing at the rate they are. It doesn't move the needle as far as actual future of the franchise but it might buy you a little bit more breathing room if it works out. The mentor thing is completely overblown by just about every fan in existence. Darnold isn't there to mentor anyone. Baker wouldn't be here to mentor anyone. You are there fighting for your job. Doesn't mean that you don't learn because you are in the same QB room but the idea that you keep a QB around to specifically teach a younger QB for the future doesn't work as well in reality. I'd say it's much more akin to a "learn by watching."
  2. Have seen zero sources. It was just said on here a few times. No one has been able to provide a source to my knowledge.
  3. Indeed. Hence the heavy use of qualifiers on it. I would be genuinely surprised if Fitterer wanted Baker more than Rhule. It just seems like such a no-brainer that Baker would be a Rhule want.
  4. Yeah, we don't actually know what the situation is. Perhaps Rhule lost some power or perhaps not.
  5. Very possible too. I think the owner meddling directly in personnel would be a five alarm fire. Especially this owner.
  6. Yes. Hence the reply. I mean, it's fun to say that but thr coschbis responsible for who plays. If you are hurting the team because of health, the plug needs to be pulled. Cam's situation was insanely obvious to everyone. EVERYONE. Yet no change was made. At best Ron offered up, "Well he said he was okay." So does that mean you don't have to use your brain or eyes anymore? Same with Baker. if he is struggling that badly with an injury, why do you allow him to drag the team down?
  7. Supposedly it's been Fitterer pushing the Baker deal and Rhule hasn't been necessarily on board with the Baker trade. If true, that is exactly the opposite way I would have predicted that situation to be.
  8. Boy does that ever sound familiar. That you Ron Rivera?
  9. I'd argue the OL was more responsible in the end. And, honestly, Cam was responsible too.
  10. Sounds familiar. Much like the Cam Newton situation, doesn't the coaching staff bear a fair amount of responsibility for not giving the player the hook if an injury is obviously causing an issue with playing ability?
  11. Don't cook the hopium too long or it will become copium.
  12. I am say with 100% certainty that it is a maybe.
  13. I could see Taylor potentially competing for that spot if Henderson isn't good.
  14. Yeah, that dude has killed my enthusiasm for much of anything Panthers related. But, if at least a couple of these young players pan out, we have something to build on for the next staff.
  15. Yeah, it would be nice to see a turnaround. I just have lost the faith in it. I was cautiously optimistic after year 1 but they lost me in the last couple of offseasons(and last season).
  16. Listen....I didn't specify. The important thing was that the meme was complete.
  17. But the thing is.....the opposite has happened. If anything this is one of the best periods for young QB's in a long time. The doldrums were because there was a derth of elite QB talent coming into the NFL and also the NFL wasn't doing something smart, which was tailoring offenses around their new QB's skills instead of trying to shoe horn them into whatever offense it was running. Plus with the insane level of training available to young athletes now, players should be much, much better prepared for the NFL.
  18. Yeah, I don't expect coverage to ever be as good as it was pre-Tepper.
  19. He was dumped because he was a middling player but mainly because he had what most of the NFL believed was a career ending injury. Also, the "sit 'em" strategy is largely a relic from the "three yards and a cloud of dust" NFL era. Smart coaches play their best players. They don't sit them for some oddball idea that this is something that works. We aren't going to agree on this because we don't look at player development the same way. I am a firm believer that great players largely become great on their own accord and you believe success is largely tied to a franchise developing the player. Those are countering opinions, so there isn't much we can do to come to an agreement on that.
  20. I am not sure that the FO is sold on Corral long term(after all, they waited until the late 3rd). My guess is probably not. He's an option among many(including trading for Mayfield). I have no issue seeing Corral start the whole year or Mayfield. As long as it's just not Sam Darnold, I'm good. At least I can watch something different, even if it isn't appreciably better. I am starting to care less about the "future" for this franchise because I don't think the current captains of that ship are doing much more than running it full speed towards the shoals. Hence why I just care about watching something "interesting." Just give me a reason to watch and not want to sell all my tickets or turn the station.
  21. He didn't show much that much in limited time. He strikes me as a project without a clear landing spot. I will point out that Mike Wahle looked at some tape(older 4 Man Rush podcast) and came away with largely the opinion that the gulf was noticeable between him becoming a quality NFL OL and where he was last year. He didn't seem to be too enthusiastic about his prospects.
