  1. Yeah, I think the only guy we have had like that during Rhule's tenure has been Cam, ironically. I think that goes beyond the just the QB position. We just don't have those guys on the roster.
  2. The moves were initially because they wanted to free up the space for Watson. That just didn't end up happening. I don't think we are in dire straights as long as we have competent FO people managing the money tricks. But it does mean that it doesn't take much for the entire house of cards to come tumbling down at some point. Which, quite honestly, the core talent of the franchise is such an insanely small group that I don't really think it would be that bad if we were in bad cap shape for a couple of seasons. Mostly would end up losing overpaid players or poor contract decisions. There isn't really much in the way of talent we could lose that would make much of a W/L impact the way the team is structured currently.
  3. Ironically you came back after multiple meltdowns and concern about your mental state, to complain about the place you took a break from. What a strange person.
  4. I think Shaq is probably a little more vocal than we might know. He just might not be quite as animated as a guy like TD or Cam. Without seeing a lot of behind the scenes footage, it is hard to know who the leaders are. Offensively, I am not even sure there is even one on the roster.
  5. Jimmy G isn't a bad idea but the situation isn't great for us at the moment. If we could get him on a one year rental for something like a 3rd round or less draft pick, I'd be in. But he is also owed $26 mil and that cap could be very valuable to roll over, as well. The biggest fear is less about Jimmy G and more about our "braintrust." I could see them immediately giving him a big extension or overpaying, like they did with Teddy and Darnold.
  6. I am not sure we have a lot of leaders in the player ranks currently. But we are also a pretty young team so some of that may come with time.
  7. You think he lost because he is short???? Is that you, Matt? Tell us about how Slater is an OG guard due to arm size again.
  8. If Pickett is Cousins, he is a home run pick for this class.
  9. When did Minshew garner a top 10 pick??? We could probably trade a 4th or 5th and get him.
  10. Well I want a QB....just not any of THESE QB's.
  11. Okay. That nightmare scenario made me laugh pretty hard.
  12. What is your dream draft scenario for the first round(can include trading, obviously)? What is your nightmare draft scenario for the first round? Dream: Neal/Ekwonu fall to us and we select them at #6. Nightmare: Draft any QB at #6.
  13. Yeah, BC was a bad draft pick for what we needed as a team. He is an OT that appears to basically be a backup caliber NFL player. It's frustrating that we chose to do that with our 3rd round pick when we had so many needs. It's more frustrating how little we got from our second and third picks, given those could have been used to shore up the IOL. #TepperRhuleFittererMagic
  14. And, furthermore, if they are practicing at a much higher or just higher level.....why the fug did you draft them?
  15. Jimmy G or Baker are likely equal to or better than any QB in this draft. It just becomes about the price it takes to get them.
  16. At this rate, probably not until we get another owner.
  17. If an elite LT or DE is available at 6, you do the smart thing and pull the trigger on those guys. You don't compound previous errors(wasting draft capital) by being cute and trying to gain back what you lost by making dumb mistakes. If no elite LT or DE is available, then you try and trade down and see what happens.
  18. Yeah and the Ravens obviously weren't that sold on him either, right? Otherwise you take him at 25th. That's a reasonable gamble, not being all in on a player as a franchise QB. Hence why I said what I said, if you are really sold on a guy, you take him at 6. If you aren't, you trade down and just let the chips fall where they may. IMO, trading down isn't about getting the guy they want, it's about getting more draft picks(for them to fug up) and/or just taking a QB from those available because you view them about the same.
  19. It isn't about absolutes, it's about a classic Panthers flaw from the past few years which is ignoring strong classes of specific positions and just attempting to go against the grain for no obvious reason. I don't know what is wrong with our overall decision making but we just cannot wrap our heads around this concept as a franchise.
  20. But are you also blind to his(Howell) faults as a result? You did get blinded by Herbert's offense when he was at Oregon. Regardless, the point being is that if you look at this QB class, prospect by prospect, it is just bad. Doesn't mean 1 or 2 guys might not succeed. Pickett might be able to outplay his Andy Dalton-ish ceiling. Willis might be a fast learner and figure out how to anticipate throws, read defenses, etc. Corrall might end up learning to read the field pre-snap like Drew Brees and carve up defenses with that quick release. Ridder may somehow fix his myriad of mechanical issues and be the same gamer he was in college. Howell might end up not being a poor man's Baker Mayfield and be what Mayfield was supposed to be. Strong might develop into a guy that can be extremely adept at moving in the pocket and analyzing defenses at an elite level. But....if you take the past few classes and sit down with the pros and cons of each of the top 5 or 6 prospects, it's clear that this isn't just a "doesn't have a top tier prospect" class but it's a class that lacks many decent gambles on success. It's a lot of traits and flaws for prospects that we typically are used to seeing in guys that go in the 4th-7th rounds. So are we looking at Mahomes or are we looking for Gardner Minshew? I am gonna say this definitely leans towards the latter.
