Panthers close to deal with G Austin Corbett
kungfoodude replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Size isn't going to make him better. Skill, technique and drive will. That's your inner Matt Rhule talking with the 1 inch and 15 lbs stuff. -
It's funny the polarizing views on Verge. My guess is that she knows far less than some of you think and far more than some of you think.

One by One they go off the board
kungfoodude replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think a QB who isn't on our team is keeping people away. It's our terrible owner and coaching staff. That has created a situation where you aren't going to get many guys that want to win to willingly buy into. This is why article after article talk about how we are viewed so poorly by other franchise employees. Make no mistake, this zoo atmosphere was a Tepper creation. -
I fully expect the defense to be substantially worse this coming season. It isn't that we lost many truly elite players(save Gilmore) but we don't have replacements for them and will be unable to replace most with equal or better options from the roster(laughable), from free agency(without nuking the cap) or from the draft(only 1 draft pick available).

That is a better OL overall but that left side will get shelled all season long. Can't fix it all in one offseason, though. -

Keep in mind we could have had cheap talent in the draft in 2021 that were as good or better than this. Could have had it in 2022 as well. This is the price you pay for fuging up draft picks. -

Don't love that price. I hope he can be above average. If not, this signing will hurt. -

Please be fuging cheap. Solid upgrade if we don't break the bank. -
Panthers sign S Xavier Woods (3 years, 15.75m)
kungfoodude replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
So we are loading up with safeties that are mediocre in coverage but very good in run support? Could also fix the leaky front 7 so that isn't necessary. Just saying. Not a bad signing, just kind of a whatever signing. Bigger issues to fix that will have much bigger W/L impacts. It should mean Hamilton is off the board if we keep our draft pick in 2022. -

There is a difference between guys chasing money and guys chasing success. -

I should have said "good" veterans. -

Plus good veterans aren't gonna want to come here. Also, if you haven't noticed a trend, Rhule doesn't like veterans. -
Good for him earning the big bucks. Very glad we aren't paying it.

I know people want to believe this, but he isn't actually worth a 1st.

Burns and maybe Moore.

I hope to see it. I hope to see it soon.

Talking Offensive Line - Is this an improvement?
kungfoodude replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Or just cash these checks for one more season. Then it will be whatever happens after Rhule is gone. I suspect our post-Rhule coach will get selected by Deshaun Watson, if Tepper wants him as badly as the rumor mill says. -
Next Man Up!...Are the Answers Already on the Roster?
kungfoodude replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
As bad as our starters are, I don't think our backups are going to prove to be much. It's easy to have the view that Rhule is hiding assets somewhere but the reality is that he is just terrible at talent evaluation. It's not that "X" starter is getting burn because he is a Rhule guy, it's that the other Rhule guy is even worse. -

We are just so accustomed to seeing dreadful OL play that we are grasping at the Brown and Christensen straws. Brown is probably not an NFL caliber player and BC is best as a backup guy. I think the more PT they get, the more we are going to see how terrible the Panthers OL evaluation skills are.
