Corrall is being overlooked by the sports media at the moment.

Since when have we upgraded to mediocre? -
Observation: Panthers want to Draft a QB but...
kungfoodude replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thibodeaux? Yeah, he would be great. Would rather have Neal/Ekwonu if they are available but I would not be upset at all about having another potentially elite pass rusher. I'd take the Michigan kid too. -

I am not sure I would say "risk." The more QB's come off the board ahead of us, the better the chance other teams will keep us from doing something very stupid(taking any of these QB's at 6). -

Supposedly Detroit is the biggest "threat" to draft a QB ahead of us. Outside of that, Houston does not appear to be serious about taking any of these QB's. -
Panthers hold prelim talks with Mayfield reps
kungfoodude replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's right, he is on his 5th year so that is even better. No risk at all. Baker is definitely a more accomplished guy but if we could get Minshew cheaply, I wouldn't be against that either. Probably preferable, TBH. -

Hence why I say affordable. If it's a 3rd rounder or less, what is the real risk? Play him here for a year and then if it doesn't work jettison him. No 5th year pick up, none of that stupid poo. A one year rental to try. Otherwise, why? We are just making another Teddy/Sam deal. -

Oh he is definitely better than Sam Darnold. The problem is that is a low bar to hit. Is he better enough to matter? Unlikely. I am fine getting Baker but it needs to be pretty affordable and not with a contract extension or any othet ignorant BS. A price that isn't steep and a real out if it doesn't work. Not Teddy/Sam Contract 3.0 -

If they want a 1st, they are gonna try to get our 6th. -
Not too fine a point on it but you don't pay gadget players $10-15/mil a year. He's getting paid like a bell cow RB so he needs to play. If he can't stay healthy, then it is just time to move on. That said, we also don't need to be using him at Ron Rivera rates.

Doing this basically takes away his best weapon, which is his running ability. I know because he catches a lot of passes and makes LB's look stupid that people think he is a secret elite WR, well he isn't. He's an elite RB with elite RUNNING BACK catching ability. I really am consistently amazed that people don't see that the thing that makes CMC an elite player is in fact his running ability.

Do whatever mental gymnastics it takes to make you comfortable.

3rd rounder at best. Everyone knows he is gonna get cut.

I don't care about learning gap. Also, that didn't keep Slater from being an All Pro. Growing pains are fine when you aren't protecting a QB that matters and on a team destined for failure.

Thoughts on putting Cam behind this line?
kungfoodude replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's very sad to see him so physically diminished when we saw him be that "Superman." But he played in a way that doesn't leave a lot left in the tank and it took a toll on his body, no matter how willing his mind was. But, you know, it was a wild ride. He gave us the best season in our team history and left as hands down the greatest offensive weapon the franchise ever had. -
LT at 6 is the way to go, unless there is a run on OT's. Pass rushers would make me the least upset of the non-LT options. Agreed, there is no chance Bozeman isn't our center. Elflein is fuging trash.

Guess we know what our first 4th round draft pick will be now.
-
One of these top shelf OT's at 6 would make that OL transformation potentially quite extreme.

I hope he is able to stick around(in the NFL) as a back up QB for a few years and maybe finally get a ring. It won't be here, very unfortunately but he deserves it. He deserves it for everything he gave and one of our stars deserves to finally get one.
