  1. I had Corral as my #2 QB, so I don't disagree about Corral being one of the best prospects of this class. I hope McAdoo can out together something cohesive on offense. The last two seasons have been pretty rough on that side of the ball.
  2. Yeah, definitely conspiracy-ish. I just hate Rhule so much. Probably nothing more than someone with some level of expertise being listened to versus a charlatan.
  3. I don't trust this entirely. I can see a scenario where McAdoo gets blamed if Corral flames out. This makes me wonder if this is Rhule once again trying to dodge future accountability.
  4. If they coddle Darnold in the preseason again, it just shows what Matt Rhule is once again. Darnold wilts when the lights are the brightest, so Corral may not stand out as much until the games are being played. Then again, it should have been obvious to the coaching staff during practices and scrimmages that Darnold cannot read defenses at all. That didn't happen, however. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
  5. Well the ultimate hope is that he smokes Darnold in TC(low bar to hit, I realize) and wins the job decisively. Even if he doesn't play particularly well during the regular season, being definitively better than the worst QB in the league is already a start. Now the real question is if Rhule will play him until he is forced to even if he does win the job. I have my doubts because Rhule has already shown he would rather stick with an awful veteran player than a rookie.
  6. When? If he plays better than Darnold in TC and the preseason....game 1. With Rhule? I suspect after a pretty long string of losses. Perhaps 7-9 games into the year. How much to learn? Well....that really depends on a lot. If he conclusively loses the job to Darnold, probably learn all you needed to know. Not being able to beat out the worst QB in the NFL is a big red flag. Now, if he gets a lot of burn in year 1....that's pretty complex. The things you want to see are improvement over the course of the season and not having really, really bad flaws. So, if you see him just not really being able to make reads, that's really bad. Even if he struggles somewhat in year 1, all is not lost. You want to see gradual improvement and the basic tools to be successful. And you need to be sure his failures are all his. Our OL might still be a disaster. Our offensive playcalling might still be a disaster. Our defense might poo the bed constantly. Our running game might be nonexistent. Things like that just make it harder on a rookie QB and harder to judge his failures harshly.
  7. Maybe so but will that be enough to matter? The bar you just set was really, really low. And they may not being able to help shitty overall coaching and planning(Rhule) or complete lack of talent(also Rhule).
  8. Yeah, we will see how quickly he learns the lesson that he can't do that poo. Howell, if he ever sees the field, will get a quick lesson in that too and he is a far bigger guy physically. I HOPE the OL is better but we are making a lot of assumptions to get to where it is better. TBD.
  9. Yeah, I am worried he is gonna default to hero ball if that interior OL doesn't at least improve to average NFL caliber. I don't want to see him getting lit the fug up as he is scrambling to make a play with his feet. He can't take the beating Joe Burrow takes.
  10. I think that will be his biggest challenge, figuring out how to actually work through his progresses and make real reads. A lot of those Air Raid guys don't adjust to that at the next level.
  11. I suspect the same. I think he likes Sam and is much more attached because that was one of "his" guys versus Teddy who may have been a Hurney guy. I'm fine with that too. Let Rhule gift us another top 6 pick so we can draft a QB there is no question about being a franchise guy.
  12. It's gonna be 4th grade before that poor kid stops misspelling her name.
  13. I hope he is able to win the starting job outright. I think we will basically know after TC and preseason if he will be a failure. If he can't beat out Darnold(I don't necessarily mean start because Rhule plays favorites), it was a miss. If he wins the job, time to see if he is the real deal.
  14. INB4 "Davis is Cheeks" rookie camp comment.
  15. Bingo. So people need to understand this in the event that Corral doesn't become more than a backup and not freak out on the kid. Have REASONABLE expectations. If he exceeds them, amazing. If he doesn't, that's fine too.
  16. Yeah, still mad about the 3rd rounder we traded but it was much better than it could be.
  17. The league as a whole basically made moves in free agency to handle QB openings because this QB class was so poor.
  18. If he loses the job conclusively to Darnold, that's when I am gonna turn on Fitterer pretty hard.
  19. I don't know how much I consider it throwing him to the wolves if he is just plain better. That's what I mean, if he wins the job....he's the guy. He's gonna have some growing pains if he starts in Game 1 or Game 14.
  20. I am not going to calibrate by our staff's standards because they have proven conclusively that they have no fuging idea what they are doing. He's a third rounder, so I have no intentions of saddling him with 1st round expectations. If he falls flat on his face as a player, I will gripe about the 3rd rounder and skewer the coaches but I am not gonna get upset at a 3rd round draft pick QB for not ending up being a franchise player.
