  1. If it's a 5th to 7th rounder, those aren't particularly relevant. Anything in the 1st to 3rd round is pure fuging insanity. Should be a fireable offense after the Darnold deal.
  2. The message board you have invented in your head doesn't exist in any successful form at all. If you only want positivity with a franchise mired in the failures that ours is currently experiencing, there would literally be about 100 people here and maybe 10 active users. It's normal for people to not like to eat poo. It's pretty abnormal for people to eat poo and smile while they talk about how much better this poo is than they expected. Complaining follows failures. It evaporates relatively quickly when winning starts.
  3. I mean....Slye has been on three different rosters since we released him. What did Smitty say that was wrong? Slye was awful.
  4. I imagine the talks have been fairly steady. We don't know how serious the Panthers are but Fitterer/FO staying in contact is a smart idea. If you can get Baker for relative nickels and/or unload Darnold, it's wise to keep having these discussions. I definitely don't think this is a fake story. Too much smoke for there not to be fire. We just don't know how big the fire is or if it's actually still burning.
  5. Yeah, I mean a logical move would be to start Corral(unless he is just a disaster in camp) and figure it all out, with the safety net of the 2023 draft. But the ratio of smart to dumb moves is pretty heavily tilted towards dumb under the Tepper/Rhule era. I suspect we will end up with Baker and he will easily win the starting job. Which, he is due for another good season, so we'll probably win 7-9 games and then sign him to a massive, long term deal. Bcuz Panthers.
  6. I definitely wouldn't do anything above a 5th. I would consider a 4th if they take Darnold.
  7. People are acting like this is the only time fans of a franchise have ever been this upset as a whole. My God....go to a Jets message board or Giants or Jacksonville or 6-20 years ago Browns or any number of multi-year dumpster fire teams. They ALL get mad about this.
  8. I have to disagree on PJ. I don't think Rhule still has enough stroke to be able to relegate Corral to thr practice squad. I don't think the FO/ownership would look very kindly upon that. IMO, PJ would be out the door or on the practice squad. If I am wrong about that scenario, Rhule is worse than I ever thought or Corral is straight trash.
  9. Yeah, you have a good point. Unless Corral really blows the doors off it, take another QB. Worst case scenario is you have a windfall of a trade you can make if both pan out.
  10. But what if Corral shows some promise or is even quite good? That's the scenario where maybe I don't take a QB in the 2023 draft. It may not be likely but it is possible.
  11. Didn't the restructure make it harder to get out of that CMC contract in the short term?
  12. Keep in mind that we are coming off two straight 5 win seasons so literally any improvement might buy a coach on the hot seat more time. For the franchise and our future, it probably doesn't move the needle much unless Baker has some sort of unexpected renaissance here. This move is more about trying to not get fired, IMO.
  13. Not sure it really needs too much explaining. They are ultimately trying to accomplish two things: 1. Jettison a toxic player. 2. Clear salary cap space. Trading for Darnold straight up immediately torpedoes the second goal. They have backup QB's that are far better than Darnold so there is also the element of Darnold literally not being useful at all. It's very likely even if they did agree to the deal they would just cut him anyway. The only way Carolina is going to be able to get rid of Sam is to pay most of his salary or give up a pick. He is a terrible player on an even worse contract(even at just 1 year).
  14. It is funny that the most complaining is from the "Im So TiReD oF aLl ThE cOmPlAiNiNg!" crowd. At least @iamhubby1finally had his typical meltdown and storm out. The rest are just general trolls. I suspect some alts at work because two of that crowd are VERY similar in posting content/style.
  15. Seems like it is probably time to move on. Maybe he will pan out elsewhere, who knows? What seems to be rather obvious is that his development has stalled here. It sucks because he has the skill to be a very good player.
  16. For all the talk of "legit" sources, I don't think he has proposed any sources we should be listening to. Considering how often we hear Panthers internal moves or prospective moves blasted in the media, doesn't seem like sources are much of a problem in that organization.
  17. This is true. Just the idea of a team trading for Sam to start is absolutely laughable. We were the only team in the NFL dumb enough to think that.
  18. Lol. I mean if they want to tank for a top 10 draft pick, sure. Brissett can manage a game and get that team to mediocre to below average. Sam will have them nosediving for the bottom.
  19. We will never know the true story, hence the "if." Read better.
  20. I am not too worried about Corral. If he doesn't pan out after a year starting, he also just isn't likely to pan out. Even if he struggles, you should be able to see whether he is worth running it back in 2023 with. That's also what I am after. We should have another top 10(maybe top 5) pick, so we need to know if that needs to be a QB or not.
  21. I don't think it's about us thinking he is ready, it's about not wanting to see Darnold stink again for most of a season. That really wasn't fun at all.
