ESPN "Future" Power Rankings/Ratings

Yeah and I don't see anyone below him on that list that is CLEARLY better than he is. -

Well, you might be able to say that about some top 12 guys too. That remains to be seen. It's possible that our situation is bad enough that very few QB's could drag us to contender status. If next season is the same disaster we have seen under the current staff, I would tend to lean that way. -

I forgot that Trubisky wasn't on the Bills anymore. He might be a starter. I guess it depends on the progress of Pickett. -

Trubisky and Jimmy G aren't starters. Mariota is not a lock as a starter. -

Most of those guys aren't starters, though. Still, if we out a comprehensive lost up, I bet most would rate him higher than 28. Maybe that would be an interesting thread. Put up a list of the starting QB's(with the open jobs grouped as a unit) and see where Huddlers rank him. -

I don't know how much better but I would hope better than 28th. Seems like at least top 25. The actual rankings versus what was said was very strange. -

Yeah, that had me scratching my head too. It felt like back handed compliments. -
31. Carolina Panthers Overall score: 69.0 CATEGORY SCORE NFL RANK Overall roster (minus QB) 73.8 26 Quarterback 65.5 28 Coaching 60.8 32 Draft 73.5 27 Front office 70.8 31 Why they're here: The Panthers' defense is terrific, and that alone gives some reason for optimism. But two question marks persist for this franchise: the long-term solution under center (even after the Baker Mayfield deal) and the future of coach Matt Rhule. Rhule was handed a seven-year contract when he took over in Carolina, but there appears to be a lot of pressure on him and the franchise to take a leap this season. Mayfield, like Sam Darnold, is under contract for only one more season. -- Yates Biggest worry: Who will be coaching the Panthers beyond 2022? This team appears desperate and doesn't seem to have a great plan for how to manage the QB position, and that usually results in people losing their jobs. -- Riddick What could change for the better: This is not the worst roster in the league. Far from it. The quarterback issues cloud a quality talent base. But the offensive line must improve, which the team has worked tirelessly on, drafting Ikem Ekwonu and signing Bradley Bozeman and Austin Corbett. Linebacker needs upgrades, with multiple starters having bounced around the league. But Carolina's outlook isn't as dire as it looks. -- Fowler Stat to know: Matt Corral recorded back-to-back top-10 QBR seasons over the past two years in college (89.9 and 80.5). If there's a reason to have long-term hope in him as a solution at QB, it's that: He was a productive college QB for multiple years. Carolina has Mayfield and Darnold in the fold, but Corral could be part of the future plans under center. -- Walder

Yeah....there are ample things to criticize about the guy but that isn't one of them.

Jessie Bates III wants out of Cincinatti.

That's precisely how you build a terrible franchise. Overpaying for players that really don't want to be there outside the money. -

Current history is not kind to spending wildly on safeties. I agree. Like the player but the price needs to be low and his contract demands probably don't make sense for a roster like ours. -
Literally everything you say is Fake News. You are a walking fact free zone.

This is stretching towards mental illness, TBQH. How you felt the need to make this about Baker Mayfield just shows how much space he has in your head at the moment.

Texans preemptively settle with 30 women
kungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah. They wanted to get ahead of the narrative before it turned on them. I am sure they share some small part if the allegations are true, so they decided to make the wise business and get ahead of that. -

No and I imagine there isn't much mutual interest in a deal. -

Someone please crudely photoshop a Baker Mayfield/Icky Ekwonu "The Bodyguard" poster. -

Pretty much this. Has to be cheap and a short term deal. He is likely pushing towards the back end of his career. -

The level of butthurt over us not wanting their choker QB is hilarious. -

High on copium. Cousins has pocketed $105 mil since he signed with the Vikings and is due another $80.2 mil for 2022/2023. The Vikings have been to the playoffs one time in that period. Stats don't mean poo when you suck. Cousins doesn't win. -
MC9's skill set is greater than Baker's.
kungfoodude replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Corral's learning curve is going to be a little steep coming from the type of offense that he has been playing in. But the same was said of Mahomes and Herbert. If we can develop Corral into a quality backup QB, it was a win as a pick. Anything more than that is icing. -

Exactly. Hence why guys like Baker Mayfield don't always pan out. It's between the ears that matters more than any other individual trait.
