No, he definitely isn't. I doubt it happens because the coaching staff knows they need to keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible.

Top two on the podium!!! Sam could make it a sweep!!
-
Well that may be a train wreck in short order. WTF was he thinking?
-
You know, if it is just doing him a solid, I like that. Helps our rep with future FA's to have an amicable parting.
-
Seems suspicious. Maybe we have some backdoor deal with San Fran. If they pick him up, let the conspiracy theories begin.

Yeah, you were preaching it the entire time. In hindsight, you couldn't have been more right. There is another thing we have to really hope Fitterer wasn't responsible for, flushing all those supplemental picks we could have had.

Report: Teams are doing homework on Jim Harbaugh

Oh, if he wins a NC this season his new contract might be something that would make most NFL teams pause. -
Draft prospects other than QB
kungfoodude replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah but it's very rare any of those guys ever pan out. That's why so many teams don't draft that kind of prospect in the first round anymore. I am not against taking him but definitely not in the first round. -

I genuinely don't understand the Richardson fanboys. How are you not seeing that he isn't good at all the things that a QB needs to do? I mean, Justin Jefferson would probably be an amazing QB too if he could play the position. -

I definitely don't believe the draft process will be as kind to Richardson as some think but you are 100% correct that we will go QB. I am just not seeing a scenario where we opt to not take a QB in the first. Not a logical option anyway. -
Hard to say. Andrew Luck returned when he would have been the #1 overall pick. Unless Penix decides to spill the beans, we are just left to speculate and take him off our personal mock draft boards and QB rankings for 2023.

Report: Teams are doing homework on Jim Harbaugh
kungfoodude replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well he flirted with the Vikings last year and his buyout is very low. Make no mistake, it is just a matter of time before he is back in the NFL and his contract at Michigan was structured to make that happen. He just happens to have the luxury of being able to be pretty picky. -
That is what I mean, maybe he didn't get the info that he would be an early pick. Also, remember that risk is less with the NIL. Insurance policies for athletes have always existed, so they have that protection but now they have the ability to add some potentially serious cash in their pockets in college, as well.
-
Or he did have good information, hence why he returned.

This is the classic fan mistake. One game does not a career make. A few games does not a career make. Panther fans seem to be particularly susceptible to this in our post Cam Newton QB desert. Will Grier, Kyle Allen, Taylor Heinickie, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, PJ Walker, Baker Mayfield, Matt Corral.....people keep prematurely jumping on these bandwagons in desperation.

After reading this, I had to go look at the performance because this post makes it seem like they have been a perennial top 15 program. The actual reality is that despite the unreal wealth of talent Mack Brown is 30-21 in his recent stint. Including only being ranked in the postseason top 25 once in his tenure and currently 1-3 record in bowl games and championship games. Also, these results are strikingly familiar, as they should be. Because they are slightly worse through 4 years than what Larry Fedora did, including an ACC Championship appearance.

Current Win Total Odds for Remainder of Season
kungfoodude replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
The problem is there is basically no precedent for that kind of turnaround for a first round bust QB. There are dozens of failures of his type and I cannot recall a single one that ever rallied to have much more than a middling career. I get trying to see that some people can be salvaged but that is also ignoring that, well.....most people can't be. It just is what it is. Sam Darnold is about the clearest and most obvious example of this I can recall in recent memory. -

The total control I agree with. I don't want to see us ever make that mistake again. -
I mean....he is obviously better than Rattler.

I am saying is that is the only source saying that.....maybe not the most accurate take. Personally, I will take Harbaugh in a heartbeat. Hard to think of a better hire we could make short of Sean Payton. -

Current Win Total Odds for Remainder of Season
kungfoodude replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean.....surely we are not still pushing the "he's only" narrative anymore, right? Baker Mayfield is only 27, should we keep him around? Johnny Manziel is only 29, maybe give him a shot? If you want a bridge guy, there are ample amounts of Teddy Bridgewater's, Jimmy G's, Jacoby Brissett's, Taylor Heinickie's, Geno Smith's, Tyrod Taylor's, Andy Dalton's, etc, etc that can fill that game managing veteran role for us. There is quite literally no reason to keep players that have time and time again, unquestionably proven that they are not NFL caliber players. No matter what direction we go in this offseason, one part of it is going to have to be a decent veteran QB. Even if just as a backup. -

I almost spit food on the screen reading that. -

Yeah but Darnold is one of the worst possible game managers you could have. -
Oh I completely agree. The UNC homers were doing this same poo with Howell. Maye is a super talented kid but he might regress or just not improve in three years. Let that all play out.
