I think people are confusing 2021 Goff and 2022 Goff improvements with being Goff career improvements. He has been better than last season in this offense, without question. He isn't dumping the ball off all the time like he did in 2021. But this season also isn't a dramatic departure from him in that McVay offense.
-
I didn't mention the play because I just assumed that most people could kind of tell that it wasn't drastically different. Do you really not remember him on the Rams?
-
I am genuinely perplexed by this "development" idea on Goff. Can someone point out why this season he seems more "developed" than in previous seasons?? Statistically, he is basically doing the exact same thing he has done his entire NFL career.

Not like the divisional guys, Pats or Broncos.

We just need him to get hot for like 2 games minimum. Baker....you didn't help us here but you can help us there. Win some fuging games, buddy. Give us that draft pick back by bumping the Rams down that order.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
kungfoodude replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
TBD. We did see Willis and supposedly all his ceiling drop like a rock. I am interested to see how it plays out. -

Yes, Richardson has a much higher ceiling than Willis. I think that goes without saying, really. I am not 100% sure we will be in a position to nurture a guy with as many problems as Richardson has. But that can be said of any rookie QB to an extent. We will see what happens. Maybe we can jump up this draft board enough to have better options at QB. -

So you basically just had an entire argument in your own head that didn't have any relation to the actual argument you typed into words on a publicly viewable message board. Got it. -
Notice that Shanahan went with Josh Johnson as his recent hire given familiarity with their offense. That's something that cannot be ignored. It takes time to adjust to a new offense and there isn't very much time left for that to even happen.

I will accept either the Rams or Texans as destinations for him to miraculously turn around. https://www.tankathon.com/nfl At this point, I might be rooting for him to succeed at one of those places more so than here.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft

I am not here arguing he might not go in the 1st round, either. It's very possible. I just don't want to be the team spending a top 10 pick on the guy. Or really a 1st, if I am honest. I am curious to see this play out. I want to see if he proves to be the media creation that Willis was. And, IMO, Willis was a more polished passer. -

At least Jefferson showed some improvements over time. Richardson did not. I am not anti-Richardson. I am anti-Richardson in the first round. You give me Richardson with our 2nd round pick, you won't hear a single complaint from me. Quality gamble. -

My point being that potential is a dangerous drug. It's easy to OD on, especially when mixed with hopium or copium. You need to find the right balance of ceiling and floor. In Richardson's case, his ceiling is the highest. However his floor is so low it's almost an abyss. Probably the lowest floor in this entire QB class because, frankly, he is subpar at most aspects of playing the QB position. Not at an NFL level, but at a college level. That should give most people pause. Now, I haven't done a deep dive into FL to determine if there are some scheme issues or he just hasn't been developed properly. I will leave that up to the professionals. What I can say is that of the games I have watched over the past two seasons, he was quite bad at reading the field and being accurate on throws. That's ultimately gonna be a problem, especially if we don't have the people to develop him properly. -

It's rather sad that you cannot read your own posts or follow your own arguments. - You compare Richardson's talent running the ball to Cam. - I reply that he is more Taysom Hill than Cam. - Then you say that is an insult to Richardson's arm strength. - I literally give you stats that I am 100% certain you literally never looked at. - Then you cry that stats don’t matter. - I point out that the on field play makes my point even more pertinent. - Then you shriek that you never compared Richardson to Cam......literally despite this entire thing being over you comparing him to Cam. So, maybe you are too stupid to follow your own logic train or maybe you are trying to crawfish your way out of making an outlandish comment. -

Dude, literally scroll back to your post 6 hours ago. Just follow this back and forth up to your post. You just randomly fired that off the hip and then completely forgot about it? That's literally how we got to "more Taysom Hill than Cam." -

I mean, I assumed you were since watching them play it's EXTREMELY obvious he isn't anywhere near Cam Newton. -
Careful, you are gonna stir up @rippadonn

I mean JaMarcus Russell was brimming with potential. As was Ryan Leaf. Potential is part of the equation, not the answer to it. Or, as a buddy of mine once said, "Potential just means you haven't done poo yet." -

If you think that, you are gonna be in for quite a shock when you actually look at their college stats. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/anthony-richardson-2.html https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/taysom-hill-1.html I can tell you stats Richardson isn't anywhere near..... https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/cam-newton-1.html -

TBH, he is much closer to Taysom Hill than he is Cam coming into the league. -
Person looks at Mayfield, Rhule and "revisionist history"
kungfoodude replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
No, I was fine with the Mayfield trade at a stated price point because the price was low. It didn't have any real impact other than a few mil on the cap and a 5th round pick. Leaps and bounds better than the terrible Darnold trade. Now, the obvious problem with any of this was that we took so long to fix the real issue, which was Matt Rhule. -
Are any of them transferring to the Carolina Panthers? I understand that there are college fans here, I get that. I can tolerate some regular season or postseason game talk. But fuging transfer portal poo? I don't care about college football offseason poo that isn't NFL related.
-
Yeah, this is a rare win-win if the Saints win. Moves us closer to the top of the division while also helping our draft positioning(overall).

It will be fun to see how much more behind the curtain we get to see as a result of Rhule frantically trying to change the narratives about his tenure here. So much would have just stayed behind the scenes and now it is going to be public because he crossed so many people. -
Who has been the best post-Cam Panthers QB?
kungfoodude replied to TNPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This seems like the obvious answer. I can't believe anyone seriously said anyone else. Some of our fans are....special.
