He was our best YAC guy in 2023 and 4th in 2024(behind Hubbard, Sanders, Coker). He was a great and productive WR for us because he knows how to play the game, he had a connection with Bryce specifically and our other options have largely been atrocious.

Hey You, You Don't Know Quarterbacking

Well, we did try that for several years unsuccessfully, so I do think that may be impacting Tepper's decision making. -
TBD. That was what the team has said but then you had all the reporters in TC talking about how great he looked conditioning wise. Either he showed up to OTA's in sad shape or there is some messaging going on. Either way, he isn't going to be able to not be in good or great condition and have a lengthy career. He better learn that lesson early. It's something Nacua was public about battling.

Well, you really have to be an elite running unit for that to work....most of the time. You still need some level of creativity in the offense. Ask the post-Kellen Moore Eagles.
 -
I mean, literally almost every player on that starting OL and even backup unit are predominantly run block heavy guys. We did very intentionally build the line in that manner. It would be nice for them to be more balanced on the pass blocking side but the outcome isn't unexpected, IMO.

I am pretty sure everyone reading this has the exact same opinion of your emotional tantrum, frank. Good luck with that.

I think what we hope to see from Coker is the same stuff we saw last year. Great route running and good hands. I am not under any illusions that he is suddenly going to be prime Steve Smith but if you look at a guy like Jacobi Meyers, he has carved out an extremely successful NFL career as a less than elite athlete that excels at route running and getting open. IMO, that's Coker's potential ceiling and that would be fantastic.

And those targets are mostly going to TMac, who will be a part of the FUTURE of the team. Did it remove the most reliable WR and Bryce's safety blanket? Absolutely. But it's also allowing him to build better chemistry with TMac, Stephens, Horn, Evans, etc. I am pumped to see Coker back and hopefully they can reignite that connection.

You can attempt to gaslight all you want but you are the one acting crazy about a pretty logical discussion up to this point. We get it, you hate AT, JT.
 -
He has both loafed and played hard at times on the blocking front. I have no idea what is going on with him but he is quickly moving towards being buried on the bench if he doesn't figure it out. I am happy to have Coker back so we can continue to build out some WR weapons. If XL doesn't get his head in the game, he is gonna start seeing a lot less snaps.

Again with the straw man arguments. You have Trump level of delusions about this subject. Here, let me do you in this case.... I don't know if AT fuged your girl or your wife or whatever but your level of hatred towards a guy not even on the team is insane. I can't believe you keep hate watching all these Vikings games as a result. It's crazy behavior but, by all means, you do you. Now...see how nutty that sounds? Go read this thread and see how emotional you are over something no one in this thread is talking about emotionally.
 -
You sound like a JT O'Sullivan sock account with all the straw man arguments. Literally read your post and see how little it has to do with anything anyone said in this thread.
 -
You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!

Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?
kungfoodude replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
From the fans perspective, yes. I suspect that answer will come sooner than that. The Tepper Panthers are slow to learn from these mistakes, it seems. And it will almost certainly cost more than one person in the organization their job, I suspect. -

Bryce's Achilles Heel Is Not What You Think It Is
kungfoodude replied to fieryprophet's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not realistic but I understand the sentiment. I would have already been shopping him around the league to gauge interest and see what the returns might be if I were Dan. I think it's going to be a situation that the franchise needs to save face and offloading him is going to be seen as a sign of defeat. Not saying it will end up that way but I can see it happening. -

Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?
kungfoodude replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think by the end of this season we really need to have a good idea. I suppose the picking up of the 5th year option seems relatively inevitable unless he falls off a cliff in terms of performance. I suspect this decision on his future will still be unanswered during his 5th year. -

Bridgewater does seem like a good upper end Bryce comp. But....ultimately that IS a career backup player. Not sure if that would have been different had that terrible injury not happened but we dealt with some similar issues while Teddy was here that we are dealing with in Bryce. -

Hey You, You Don't Know Quarterbacking
kungfoodude replied to fieryprophet's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's what I mean. If you claim to possess some super knowledge about the QB position from a previous non-football but football related job, wouldn't you want to expound upon that to support this "everyone doesn't know anything about being a QB" thesis? The rest is just summed up by stating that there are a lot of variables to a QB being successful. Yeah....I mean that isn't earth shattering. While there is certainly a lot of luck involved in all manners of success, consistent success with the variables around you also changing on a regular basis is usually fairly conclusive. Is Trent Dilfer the same as Tom Brady? Is Nick Foles the same as Patrick Mahomes? I supposed based on the OP's arguments, they are. That's not really the way it turned out, however. The NFL isn't unlike most other jobs or even other sports. The cream typically does rise to the top on a more consistent basis. Is it accidental that premier poker players seem to win or perform very well on a consistent basis, give that any individual hand is largely luck? -

And we have no idea if that is what they actually think at all. -

You definitely can't trust a lot of the current team sources, IMO. Seems like Tepper has purged a lot of the old guard and replaced them with a bunch of scared loyalists. I think the most you are gonna get leaked to the media is company line, for whatever that is worth. -

Bryce's Achilles Heel Is Not What You Think It Is
kungfoodude replied to fieryprophet's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. I do remember that indeed. He was right. We are in year three and it's still a work in progress. I will say he has definitely cured me of wanting to draft another QB that is lacking in basic fundamentals. That's the biggest red flag of all. I think Bryce wants to be an NFL player but I do question if he has the drive to be great. -

Yeah and another guy on a mega deal. I think the thing that is getting all these franchises twisted up is the fear of having to search for a new QB again. Ultimately, if you end up with a Kyler Murray, Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson, etc....now you have a franchise killer. A guy that will draw insane resources while never developing into a QB capable of leading a team to a championship. That's the big danger with Bryce. I am fine attempting to extend him on a 2-3 year "prove it" deal for maybe $20-25 mil AAV with a lot of performance based incentives and a painless early out. But, he isn't likely to accept an offer like that. I would think he is likely to want a mega offer, as is his right as an NFL QB to ask for. I would prefer we just simply move on if he doesn't show he is a franchise caliber QB this season. Seems like every offseason there are ample options in terms of distressed assets, older journeyman QB's and former starters that can spell us while we build a capable team that might not need a superstar QB to be a competitor.
