I mean, he isn’t exactly a young buck. He has been on and off in the NHL since 2016-2017. Also toting a career GAA of 3.49 and a SV% of .887. We generally make goalies look better with our system than they actually are. Relying on Martin long term is going to be a tough proposition.

Well we can't dip deeper into the Wolves at G. I saw the Russian kid, Ruslan Khazheyev, play there tonight(went to the game with a buddy). Man....he is a massive SOB and stiff as a board.

Just get BPA and get elite talent. If that ends up being an OT, so be it.

Martin is not it. But....let me point out that Perets has technically never allowed an NHL goal....

And probably a new HC and GM.

Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)

We have some divisional games and also Dallas, who may have a worse QB situation. We are also considerably higher in SOS so we lose most tie breakers. Even if Bryce started stinking it up, we would likely just switch back to Dalton. I agree on most of this but Arizona is a REALLY bad matchup for us. A bruising running game and very mobile QB. That is perfectly made to march all over our defense. This is one of the tighest races for the bottom I have seen in a while. -

5 to 10. It's not plausible that we lose out. -

I was too. Definitely missed that call. -

We honestly don't have much evidence what Morgan really thought about the Bryce move. For all we know, he was all in. -

We aren't going to be picking at #1 or #2. -
Yeah, my bar is set very low. I also don't think you might see him robbing much of Sanders snaps. For whatever reason, Canales loves him on 3rd down. I can't envision him trusting a rookie if he doesn't trust Chuba.

Fields would be a bad idea if you are bringing him in to start. Unless we want to run the triple option. Ward I don't think will be available when we are picking. I wouldn't HATE the pick but he is a pretty wild gunslinger type. Could be Winston, could be Mahomes. -
TD was a tweener that got pretty bulky. Chinn probably could be the same. It will be interesting to watch his career.

I hope Brooks is worth a price. He needs to be. In the end, he has to conclusively be better than Sanders. If he can't do that, oh wee mayne.
-
I wouldn't particularly care if he was on a fairly incentive laden $8-10ish mil contract. Short term, certainly. That's about what a veteran guy like him would net on the open market, I suspect. I am not ready to say he was "breaking down." He generally was playing well as an individual, but our team was definitely not. I would like to see him with this momentum being built and the changing of WR roles. TBH, whether it is Dalton or Bryce for the rest of the season, we need to be establishing ourselves as a ground and pound football team. Especially if Brooks turns out to be even a slightly above average RB.

Gambling in the first three rounds just makes the building effort longer. So you have to weigh that into the equation. Ultimately, you want to get to a situation where those picks net you at least one starter/starting caliber player and two very good rotational players(at LEAST) almost every year. That can get us back on track. So if you are having to just take a raw gamble in those rounds, versus a guy that can help you win games....I don't think we are in a good spot to be able to afford to do that. Definitely not year after year.
-
I mean, someone has to start. If we are rolling out Brycd for 17 games in 2025, I suppose that means we will get to watch the rebuilding process all over again. You can try and get another veteran QB in free agency but they will also have a salary attached. If you want to take a gamble on another young and bust QB, that's fine but that also likely leads to more rebuilding after the 2025 season. Those guys so rarely pan out. So what is left? Draft a QB? Sure, maybe. But this isn't an impressive QB draft on paper and they are going to be walking into a challenging situation. Dalton as starter in 2025 isn't waving the white flag, IMO. It's just acknowledging that we have to start attempting to build a franchise. That said, I would never be giving out $20+ mil contracts for older QB's(Flacco, Dalton, etc). That ship has sailed.

Yeah, I am not 100% against trading down but it needs to be at the right price. Also, because this appears to be a draft lacking in a lot of elite prospects, trading down could potentially backfire(as it always can, I suppose) or net a lower yield than typical. I just don't want to be fumbling around and reaching, which in the Tepper era has been a CONSTANT problem. The organizational impatience(and incompetence) been murderous.

Sports are a different animal. It's gladiator poo. You wouldn't go out and put the uniform on of the best burger maker in your neighborhood either. So, when we watch these athletes being amazing and giving their all, it is for more than just a check. The guys that are truly driven and love these games, they are doing it for many more reasons than the money. Boiling it down to a simple transactional thing is simplistic, at best. So, yeah, I can understand how Cam can feel jilted when other great Panthers are trotted out and honored by the organization and he isn't. Especially considering he is overwhelmingly the best QB to have ever played for us and literally put this franchise into the national spotlight because of the player he was, the things he accomplished and the personality that he is. So....yeah, I would be upset about that too if I were in his shoes. The money, that the business side. That other poo, that's personal.
