  1. On what planet would they ever consider this?
  2. I think you overestimate the contract Rico would command. If OTC is correct, trading Hubbard would be about $6 mil in dead cap. Not a large chunk.
  3. The money making opportunities will fade. That era is upon us. I have said a collapse is inevitable and I really do believe it. For college atheltics, a drastic collapse will be the healthiest outcome for the sport in the long term.
  4. Trading Hubbard should be a decision made based on the "future" of the team. If they deem Rico a wiser investment, long term, Hubbard is expendable. If they deem Hubbard the wiser investment, long term, Rico is expendable. That doesn't mean they should have a price that is less than acceptable, however.
  5. Technically this was the correct move for survival. College football greed did ultimately ruin all of college athletics in the end. But, it was harder to predict that it would be this bad in the 1990's and 2000's. The Big Ten is now attempting to put the final nail in college sports with this private equity "investment."
  6. I slept on it, I thought about it and with Bryce back, I think it changes everything. Packers 47, Panthers 17
  7. Yep. It was a very sad time to be a Panthers fan to see a player so great reduced to what they were.
  8. I am not convinced there will be dramatic difference makers available, especially with such large coaching issues on both sides of the ball. Still, hopefully Dan is doing due diligence.
  9. Think that will be all Packers 2nd stringers?
  10. I would also hate to see us dump any picks in the top 3 rounds. Those are just too valuable to trade for a team so incredibly far away from being a contender. Even if Scourton and Umanmielen are just basically better version of Jones/Wonnum, I still want them to keep getting the bulk of the reps. Jones/Wonnum are just middle of the road rotational players. Perhaps Scourton/Umanmielen end up being better.
  11. Depends on price, IMO. Good fits but it would need to be for a relative bargain and/or with a plan to retain(mainly with Phillips). Chubb is injury prone, 29 and has 2 years left at roughly $20 mil(real cost to us, not including prorated money). None of this money is guaranteed, however. Philips is 26 and on an expiring $13.5 mil deal. Chubb would probably be easier to obtain, although potentially a cap suck if he gets injured again. Philips would potentially be more expensive to acquire and a risk if you aren't able to immediately sign him to an extension. Chubb could be the bigger, cheaper gamble with an easy exit strategy. Phillips could be a long term solution but also potentially leave you holding the bag if he REALLY doesn't want to return and skips out this offseason(minus the tag). He is also in his prime as a player.
  12. Valid. Cam was still able to be an effective dink and dunk QB(look at his NE time) but that isn't Cam Newton anymore.
  13. 1000%. Both among the discussion for greatest "scrambling" QB's off all time. But when you rely on that so heavily, it's devastating when it goes away. Look at Cam when he lost his arm. He relied as heavily on the dual threat of his howitzer of an arm and his massive physical size/athletic ability. Once the arm went, he was no longer an effective NFL QB.
  14. Some of that is offense. I mean playing style. Look how often both of them extended plays by scrambling to hit long passes. Both relied heavily on that athletic ability to QB effectively.
  15. We don't have a lot of assets that most will want. The bulk that we so are basically no fly zones. I get the want to make upgrades but there are not likely to be cheap and available upgrades at a reasonable cost. It's possible but not probable.
  16. Our coaching staff has consistently struggled when it comes to in game adjustments. It's been a common thread the entire Canales tenure.
  17. Yeah. Andy deserves the blame for continuing to trot out there if he couldn't do it. He deserves the blame for holding on to the ball and making idiotic decisions. But....the coaching staff deserves a boatload of blame for these insanely moronic personnel decisions.
  18. We had Hooker active. He is horrifyingly bad but, be honest, what was the thought process behind not playing him in the 4th? If he is that fuging bad that he isn't worthy of a couple of drives is an absolute ass whipping, how the fug has he even maintained a spot on the PS?? Overall, this is just more and more damning to the coaching staff, IMO.
  19. Honestly, throw investment out of the window. For better or for worse, what we gave up would have to result in a Super Bowl or HOF or MVP or multiple Pro Bowls. He was almost always going to massively struggle with living up to cost. He has also been a massive letdown in terms of draft position, however. Enormously so. Zach Wilson level.
  20. Wilson is the guy that the Huddle pines for. One of the best deep balls guys in NFL history. The issue is that much like his career comp I have made previously, Donovan McNabb, his age has killed his ability to scramble and that has MASSIVELY reduced his effectiveness. He was what the Bryce homers truly thought he was going to be, a guy that extends plays until the big bomb comes available. And we all saw how McNabb went out when his mobility went away. Enter....current Russell Wilson. For Wilson to have a career resurgence, he would have to completely change the way he plays the game and I am reminded of the "old dog, new tricks" adage. TLDR: He is washed. He will just make everyone but the WEEEEE LONG BALL guys infuriated.
  21. I never truly bought into that narrative. Could have easily been a Browns smear campaign. I am sure the experience caused him to dig a little deeper and maturation happens naturally. We saw it with Cam too.
  22. INB4 4-6 bad snaps from Corbett. Boy....it is time to draft a MFing center.
  23. Even if he did, he was rarely spraying throws all over the place. He was just holding on to the ball and extending the play to get sacked. The only logic that could potentially be applied is lack of faith in his ability to make the throw because of his thumb. If so, even more damning. So you actively hurt the team because....why exactly???
  24. I didn't think Dalton was gonna be this bad. I was thinking around Bryce Young level bad. The perplexing thing about Sunday wasn't anything physical, it was mental. That's inexcusable as a long time, successful veteran and as a backup QB. You can't just show up and poop your pants when you get the shot. Well that was cholera.
