The Panthers have an effort problem
kungfoodude replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
When you are a cellar dweller, you don't attract motivated win first guys because.....we don't win. They also can see our roster and the utter lack of talent too. The truth is, you have to start getting people(players) to believe in the organization before you can consistently draw in those type of guys. It's also hampered by the fact that coaches and GM's have super short shelf lives. So the architects are a rotating door. These are the hallmarks of dumpster fire organizations. They all share these things in common. -
I don't claim to know Manning's potential, other than being force fed that he is a generational talent that couldn't beat out a 5th round draft pick. I know that I have no intention of jumping on a "tank for *insert hype QB*" bandwagon in the near future.

It's not just him, we have Ikey coming up on potentially a big contract too. We already hitched ourselves financially to one player with massive availability issues as it is. So do we want to be the team that has a 30+ year old $35+ mil AAV pass rusher with potentially a $20+ mil AAV LT and maybe $45+ mil AAV QB, as well?? Until we get some of those things figured out, now is not the "throwing caution to the wind" portion of building. That's putting a roof on after you just poured the foundation.

I see a lot of Scott Fitterer acolytes popping their heads up for this non-story. We ArE oNlY oNe PlAyEr AwAy!!!! Meanwhile, trading away draft capital and making roster decisions that make us worse. Hendrickson makes very little sense at the price he wants and at the price the Bungles claim to want. That's a speed run to being yet another bad roster for a few offseasons.

Yeah, it's hard to say on the Shaq thing. I do think the Jewell situation also added PT that might go to a more capable vet. But, that's sort of what I generally mean by our draft "strategy." It seems like when we really NEED a player in a position group, we shoot for the moon on a high ceiling, low floor guy all to often. Then when they don't develop properly, it's a real problem. We have had a bad habit during the Tepper era of not drafting football players but just athletic traits.

All-22 Review of the first team offense vs. Houston
kungfoodude replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Watch the play live, it would be possible to miss that scrambling away from pressure. A screenshot makes it seem much easier than it actually was, I am sure. I certainly hope he saw it because it's a Bryce 1.0 throw, if not. -
Chinn is another in a long line of guys Panthers fans overly valued but the league responded by showing they don't consider his value to be nearly as high. I liked the guy a lot but he did never reach his full potential.

Anyone making a trade at this point is likely going to extend him. There is also the chance the Bengals screw it up enough that they just let him play out his contract and then attempt this again next offseason after they tag him. If they really wanted to unload him, they technically already missed the boat. That should have been done in the offseason and prior to the draft.

All-22 Review of the first team offense vs. Houston

I couldn't tell if Bryce saw the flag or not live. If he could, no harm, no foul. If he couldn't, absolutely inexcusable. I will say that IMO that pass to TMac was a poorly thrown ball due to the pass rush. He needs to throw it better but with half the line getting dump trucked, I can't beat Bryce up too bad. As poorly as the first unit offense played, I honestly think the defense is still a much greater concern. I do wish maybe we could have seen a series or two more of the starters. -
It's not as if he won't continue to be an elite pass rusher but it's not the right TIME for a move like this. We are just digging out of cap issues, have little to no actual core and even adding him isn't going to add a ton in the W/L column this season. I don't think anyone arguing against trading for him doesn't like the player. I love the guy. These gotta be people that are still clinging to this idea of this being a playoff team.

I mean, at that point you are one injury away from literally it being a formality we are gonna lose that week. Dalton is at least competent. Which, I suppose we are close to that being reality regardless.
-
I mean, that's tantamount to prepping to tank.
-
I mean the only reasonable pieces we could potentially offer are Ikey, Lewis, Hunt, D. Brown and probably Horn. Maybe Dowdle as a pot sweetner? But why would we literally trade any of those guys? The defense is going to suck. That mold was cast like fuging 2 years ago. If this is desperation over lack of pass rush....well.....tough poo. Figure it out next offseason.
