  1. I think that is another problem with Bryce, he has to gain his confidence every game, seemingly.
  2. Eh....this isn't the first time this has happened. The Big 12 fined two teams for doing this, which is more understandable because they share that money in the conference. There is really no harm to ND doing this other than some potential loss in revenue from a TV partner like ESPN. None of us should care about that at all.
  3. In a bowl game? That would basically eliminate any one year turnaround teams. Not very fair. Notre Dame isn't hurting anyone but themselves. There should be no outrage over that.
  4. I don't think the usage of Horn is bad, it's basically taking one of your top 2-3 YAC guys and putting him in a position to make people miss. Is it the best for his overall WR reps? No but it's a crowded WR room for not very many good or efficient targets being delivered. If we had a higher efficiency, higher volume passing offense then Renfrow would have a lot more uses. He could be that David Moore role from last year of finding open areas while the defense is keying in on the better WR's. But, we are also kidding ourselves if we think prime Renfrow is ever coming back. He is a shell of his former self and its unlikely he will ever return to that form.
  5. It has always been a drastically inferior product to professional football because the backbone of it is intended to be an unfair, fixed system. Always has been but it has gotten worse in the Super TV contract era. Even though the product should(and has) gotten better with the NIL and free agency, they go and ruin it again with the profiteering that destroys entire conferences. I think when the inevitable happens of a smaller super conference(or super conferences) group that basically plays a different level of sport, that should be the thing that likely sets it on the NASCAR course of steep decline.
  6. Hey, at this point, just happy to be here. I do want to rob Tampa and end their streak, though. That would be perfect.
  7. Renfrow is only getting targeted with catches he is just simply unable to make. He is getting the AT balls. He is not a contested catch WR. Horn is more valuable in our offense because he adds an element that doesn't really exist with our other WR's. He is a speedy, agile guy that we can use to get a lot of YAC on these screens and glorified running plays. So he has tremendous value in that role. As a pure WR he is clearly not as refined as Renfrow. Renfrow also isn't nearly as good as Coker at most aspects of his role. He is on the bench because he is a redundant, less useful player in some regards. Especially when we don't have a "point guard" at QB like we were supposed to. Bryce doesn't exactly spread the ball around and definitely not efficiently.
  8. The loss of the Pac 12 was the moment for me. If I watch the playoffs, it will be to look at specific NFL prospects. That's mostly my reason to watch any of it anymore.
  9. Maybe. I would prefer it just doesn't happen at all. Our history on prime time is rough.
  10. Those QB's aren't playing poorly, though. They are just on team having a dip in success for various reasons. I am not sure I would use one data point(an incomplete one at that) and claim QB's are no longer important. Especially when you consider the video game stats that the QB's of the best two teams in the NFL currently have put up.
  11. Oh, there are more. That's just someone who has zero idea about who was drafted and when. There are 18 current NFL starting QB's that were drafted in that timespan.
  12. If they do, it will be a massive contract flushed down the toilet. There is no valid reason to bring him back. Him returning gives us our 2nd best OL combination, IMO. I believe Corbett is more of a drop off from Mays moving to center than the drop off from Hunt to Corbett at OG. Not using that to say Hunt isn't very good but Corbett at C is atrocious.
  13. On what planet is Hurts the best QB drafted from 2020-2025?? poo, what galaxy?
  14. Hopium is a hellava drug. Anyone sold on Bryce at this point is just being willfully ignorant. Not saying with 100% certainty that he won't pan out at some point but I don't think we have the luxury of waiting another 4-6 seasons for that to happen, if that were even a possibility.
  15. Mays, Horn and Moehrig back are a big deal. The LB's....eh....not that relevant.
  16. Hurts is probably in that tier 2 of NFL QB's and arguably a Tier 3 guy. Ironically, his biggest advantages to a team built like Philly are his legs and him being such a conservative QB's that he keeps TO's very low. So, basically a running game manager. To his credit, he has a 2.4:1 TD:INT ratio. He is also a very accurate passer at almost 65% career completion percentage. So, basically what you want Bryce to be as a successful game managing QB(minus the running).
  17. Yeah, Brooks is a very poor gamble as a backup and Etienne is a true #3 RB, by which I mean if he didn't play special teams he would be on a PS.
  18. We don't know that Dowdle will be pricey. Remember we signed him for nickels after a 1k+ yd rushing campaign.
  19. He isn't the last QB in YPG. There are a few actually below him.
  20. The variance back to 1990 was only 2.4. If anything, the rushing attempts have been one of the most stable aspects over that span. Output had some significant variance and efficiency. It was the passing offense that was far more volatile.
  21. Rushing attempts PG are actually the 5th lowest since 1990.
  22. If he is healthy soon enough, it could impact our future plans at RB. We will see what happens. I think I would rather re-sign Dowdle and have a safer, surer option.
  23. I think that is a very, very. VERY small issue with them. I think they just generally aren't as good as they used to be. If you look across the board at their roster, the talent level isn't as high.
  24. I took a look at 1990 to 2025(so far). It's an interesting look. In my eyes, I don't think there is a huge difference in the rushing output or attempts over that span. The maximum difference in the attempted rushes over that massive of a span of time was only 2.4 attempts/game. Attempts/game has been rising for the past few years but that isn't the biggest difference, it's the efficiency of those runs that is actually at historic highs over that timespan. Look at YPA averages. The same general thing happened a few years ago with the passing game. Although the range of attempted passes per game is significantly higher in this timespan(5.8 attempts/GM), it's also the efficiency of these passes that has gone up considerably over that era(but peaked a few years ago). I don't think we are reverting to a "previous era" of offense in terms of the rushing attempts vs. passing attempts. I say that because with all the rule changes, it's sort of impossible for that to happen. What you are seeing is more likely an adjustment to the defensive changes that came about to stop the explosive passing offenses that had developed. These changes haven't led to an inordinate amount of rushing versus passing(although that ratio has dropped) but it HAS led to much more explosive rushing output as evidenced by YPA ticking up since 2018.
