  1. How did we ever get to this personal pandemic divide between I /Me vs We/Us. On this day.... Let Freedom Ring....and may natural selection take its course.
  2. Is it too late to build a wall?
  3. The Panther use BPA like many other teams, they take about 5 players who they think will be at their pick, rate them 1-5 and take the BPA when pick. Gman said so much last year when explaining the trade up for Funchess said they had 5 players they were looking at and when they started to quickly go off the board , they made a move up. If it happens that a player that is rated well ahead of their 5 falls, like Ealy, they will take them regardless of position need. The theme of last year's draft was versatility, for no huddle offenses. Shaq for staying in base or nickel w/o substituting and Funchess for moving around the los depending on what the defense was in. With KBs injury they couldn't do much of this, but I would expect much more often this year. In fact, i still think that we are looking at him as a Aaron Hernandez complement to Olsen. From lining him up at TE (he played at Mich), in the slot , or even in the backfield. If this happens, I doubt we look for a first round TE.
  4. It's really not all that complicated, the Panthers are just better at what they do than Denver is at what it does. We will be able to Impose our will on them on both sides of the ball
  5. Amazing that Gman is so nondescript that he has to wear a field pass...at home.
  6. It only seems right that since Hurney overpaid CJ to keep him away from Atlanta, Gman would get a deal on JA and keep him away from the Falcons.
  7. NFL policy is extremely lenient on illegal drugs. Each player (who is not in the substance abuse program) is only tested once a year between April 20- Aug 9. After they pass that test they can do as much pot, coke, etc. as they want without any worry until the next April. This assumes they do not actually get caught by law enforcement. I doubt this stop would put Hill in the substance abuse program unless JR insisted in order to stay on the roster.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised to,see Shaq get some reps at PR/KR when he gets here, if only for emergency purposes.
  9. Pie-O-My......or you may wake up to a horsehead under your covers.
  10. This is the w/e that the gm/coaches get their first confirmation of either yessss they are who we thought they were or omg what were we thinking. Sounds like so far we're 1 for 1 on YESSSS
  11. q Sirius radio said the reason for Fisher's slide was teams found out he had back problems. All we needed as another Otah.
  12. Many times a trade isn't even announced until the other team makes it's pick, so you may not know the Panthers are taking a player when another team makes it's pick. Unlikely that we trade up in round 1 though.
  13. Now that he has no NCAA elibility left, he comes clean
  14. Beckham comes from being adopted by a white family. Similar story to Oher, missing father, crack ***** mother, living on his own with other siblings when a local football coach took them in when he was a HS freshman.
  15. It wouldn't surprise me if Chip Kelly took him @20. It's time for Lane Johnson to move over to the left side and Peters is on the wrong side of 30 to be running plays every 15-20 seconds. Kelly is much more likely to value Fisher higher than other teams since he knows, him and has experience in the system. If this occurs look for the Eagles to offer up Peters on draft day and the Panthers to make a run at him.
  16. Trade back into the 2nd round. 2 seconds and 2 thirds is better than a 1,2 and 3 with either of those .
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if we traded up somewhere in rounds 1-3 to secure a player that fulfills a need (starts). I don't believe that all 9 draft choices will make the team so may make sense to go up and get a specifc player.
  18. The common thread of our signings this year are players who have previously played for our coaches. The players know the system and can hit the ground running. The coaches know the drive, scheme fit, and the weaknesses of the player. Less mistakes are generally made this way. If we swing and miss on a CB in the draft, I'd like to see us pick up Peanut Tillman who was a pro bowler for RR in Chicago.
  19. Contracts also get us going in the right direction to meet the cash over cap requirements of the CBA for 2016.
  20. On top of being in cap hell is the problem that over $21 million(15% of cap) is dead money taking up cap space for players no longer on the team. Hurney put us in this same position when he restructured Jake to pay for franchising Peppers and then cut him the next year for which we had a $12 million hit. Brees has also had a ton of money pushed into the future and trading him may not actually give them much cap relief, since that would become dead money.
  21. This isn't Gman's first rodeo. It's the benefit of having a GM who has been thru the team building process with a number of successful organizations over many years. He's seen it all before (expt these trades) and knows we are only three days into FA. By the W/E prices will come down sharply and as teams sign more players they will also cut more players, so you never know who may be available next week. From what i've seen the first couple of years, I wouldn't want to play poker with him, because it's hard to tell what he's holding.
  22. Only the very best LTs actually defeat DEs in pass blocking. The whole idea for the others is to lose slowly. As crazy as it might sound, if Oher can just hold a couple beats longer than Bell, it will save a lot of wear and tear on Cam.
  23. For anybody interested in an analystics view of why the Panthers should sign Crabtree.... Carolina Panthers: Sign Michael Crabtree Given the skill set of quarterback Cam Newton, it's not a shock that the Carolina Panthers offense has been built around the run more than the pass since Newton arrived in 2011. For four straight seasons, the Panthers' offense has ranked higher in run offense DVOA than in pass offense DVOA. Last year, their running game dipped to 17th in DVOA after three straight years in the top ten. But their pass offense was even worse, ranked just 23rd. Drafting Kelvin Benjamin last year gave the Panthers a size/speed freak to line up at one receiver spot, the kind of talent against whom defenses need to game-plan. The next step is to fill the other spot with the kind of receiver who can specifically take advantage of defenses that are either sitting in zone to prevent Newton scrambles, leaving a safety deep to prevent the bomb to Benjamin, or both. That's where Michael Crabtree comes in. The former San Francisco first-round pick is the kind of excellent route-runner who eats up zone coverages. He doesn't have deep speed, but he's very quick to separate at the break of his routes. Newton is better at throwing from the pocket than most fans realize, and better at throwing with anticipation and hitting receivers after their breaks. Crabtree struggled in our advanced metrics in 2014, with a below-average DVOA, but that's likely a product of the overall struggles of the entire San Francisco offense. Crabtree was above average in DVOA each year from 2010 through 2013, finishing sixth in total value by our DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement) stat in 2012. As an added bonus, Crabtree is an above-average run blocker on the perimeter, a must for the Carolina offense. It could be just the right fit to help the Panthers follow up the first-ever repeat NFC South title with a first-ever third straight NFC South title.
  24. The hell with Hakeem...Bring in his SI swimsuit model girlfriend...She fits the scheme. http://www.rantsports.com/clubhouse/2014/07/17/15-hot-photos-of-hakeem-nicks-girlfriend-model-ariel-meredith/
