  1. Salty, everyone has to start somewhere. Most big guys at the gym laugh at people lifting more than they should, not people just starting.
  2. Cat, in regards to your pull up question, no you should lose that much by missing a week. A lot of other things could explain it. Were you properly hydrated? Did you do anything strenuous prior? Did you warm up? Are you eating below your caloric needs? All of these can impact resistance training.
  3. Bad gym etiquette drives me nuts. It's not that damned hard to grab a spray bottle and wipe down the equipment you just sweated all over. Oh, and if you're curling in the squat rack, I hope you get polio.
  4. I'm not against people making healthy lifestyle changes, but I hate when the gym is crowded.
  5. Maybe the New Year's crowd got a head start at your gym. They usually only last a week or so.
  6. I'd figure I'd revive this thread with expressing the dread of the New Year's crowd. I usually hit the gym at off times so I hope I miss them this year.
  7. I switch weight training routines. I'm trying to put some more muscle on. My arms and lats are noticeable larger. My shirts are getting snug across the shoulders and I've gained about 5lbs since I quit cutting.
  8. If she's aiming with her forehead, I tell her to get back in the kitchen. And here's a pic just to contribute to the thread
  9. You can't spot target fat loss. If you want to lose your belly, you have to eat less calories than you burn. If you eat to few calories, you run the risk of losing more muscle than if you went for moderate weight loss. Ideally, you don't want to loss not more than 1-2 a week. Diet is more important than anything else when it comes to ditching the belly. As far as supplements, I take creatine, protein, a multivitamin, and glucosamine. I'm currently bulking which is why I'm using creatine, and the glucosamine is for an old knee injury.
  10. What where you doing and what are your goals?
  11. Salty, you can have some beer in moderation. I haven't given up drinking, I just don't do it as often.
  12. I hit the gym and I had to work so no beer for me.
  13. Knowing the caloric intake of a lot of the stuff I used to eat is why it has become stuff I used to eat. Once I get under 10% body fat I'm going to put on muscle until after the holidays. Then I will start training for the Cooper River Bridge run. I will use that as my cutting phase.
  14. I started taking fitness seriously around the holidays last year ( I'm 5'7" and was almost 200 lbs) I had an elipltical I used at home, but decided I should incorporate weight training as well. Mid January, I got a gym membership and started weight training Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 45 minutes of HIIT Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I am down to 10.5% body fat, 151 lbs and wear jeans smaller than when I was in high school. I use my fitness pal to track what I eat compared to what I burn.
  15. The mods are mad cause you didn't make the same offer to them
