This is literally the only response to any criticism of Baker at this point. This and defensive players saying post game how calm and reassuring Baker was all game, even when he was struggling himself and how much they respected him for that.
-
Robby is entirely dependent on getting over the top. He's a less dynamic version of Ted Ginn. He's a go down on first contact guy. He's 4 for 30 minus the busted coverage. Still decent but not anything crazy. If Robby can deliver one of those deep balls a game then good. Otherwise, ship him IMO
-
Our offense has serious potential if we stay out of our own way and if Baker can overcome the OL holes with quick decisions like he made at times today. Kicker was solid. Punter was solid. Made adjustments at half. Didn't give up but one really big play. So that's good
-
No we earned this loss. From our offense being useless for the first quarter and really most of the first half to the defense being bad the whole day to Rhule not playing for a final first down to ice the game. We deserved this loss. The refs blew a call, but that isn't why we lost.

Official Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread
lightsout replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
They are but Baker dropped a snap and threw one really bad ball without much else to speak of until the td drive so everybody's knee jerking that Baker is the reason we're losing right now. Play calling has been ass outside of the td drive. -
Official Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread

It's almost like we're trying hard to let Baker have "his moment" against his old team. Just run the ball, set some poo up. I don't get trying to throw the ball 35 times on week 1 of a new offense. -
Huge news. as much as a lot of us make fun of him, I can't imagine Canes hockey without him. They already took Forslund away, Tripp would be too much.

Yeah I'm bouncing hard between a 3070ti and a 6800xt. SAM/Resizable Bar is the one thing really keeping me from just going with the 3070 and a general unfamiliarity with Nvidia GPUs. I have a tough time with change lol
-
3060ti would be a slight performance increase at best from the 5700xt but I did consider a 3070 or 3070ti. As it stands, I have a 650w gold rated PSU so I'd have to upgrade that anyway. On the one hand, I want to upgrade....on the other, I don't want to spend $150-$200 on a good quality 850w PSU plus the $650-$700 GPU right now. But then I start wondering how hard it will be to find the 6800xt I want in 6 months to a year. Long term, I'm gonna build out on am5 because I like AMD (not sure why, probably because my rig has been good to me and because they're sort of the underdog to Intel/Nvidia) in a few years on 2nd or 3rd gen. So do I want my fps to stay around 144 at 1440p on low-mid settings, or do I want that fps with mid-high settings and how long do I want to wait? That's where I am.

So I'm fuging stuck. Like prices are obviously starting to flatten out after they started dropping earlier this year. Most are close-ish to MSRP but high end cards are still just so damn high that it's hard to justify, but this will be my last upgrade in this rig and I'll be on it for the next 5 years unless I can sell it and build out with the new chipsets before then. As it stands, these are my specs. CPU: R5 5600x Mobo: ASUS TUF Gaming x570 plus wifi RAM: Corsair vengeance 16gb (2x8) GPU: 5700xt Case: Meshify C Originally I had a 3600 as my CPU, upgraded that on Prime Day when the 5600x dropped to $140. So my GPU has to be under 315mm in length because the meshify is kinda tight, or up to 330mm if I move a case fan down and pop out my shroud cover. Problem doing that is I'm fairly certain it's going to fug up my airflow and I only just got the 5700xt to stop hitting 100°+ junction temps recently (drivers finally stablized and I tweaked my undervolt slightly from where I had it. Dropped 10-15° average jtemp under load at the cost of about 3-8 fps, oh well). So ideally, I could keep the fan where it is. I'm looking primarily at two GPUs, one from Nvidia and one from AMD. Here's the dilemma. Bear in mind, I play mostly Apex Legends and Escape From Tarkov Nvidia: ASUS TUF 3080 12gb. Size is great, performance is great apparently, and it's now at $850 on Amazon. AMD: ASUS TUF 6800xt. Slightly bigger, will be tight but should fit. Currently at $740. I don't care much about DLSS and AMD has Smart Access Memory/Resizable Bar for their GPU/CPU combinations, which will give 5-15% performance increases in some titles or no effect in others, rarely will make performances worse. Any opinions here?

I think I can guess who here didn't play ball at a high level in high school or beyond based solely on this thread. Corral doesn't look like a starter. He's not expected to look like a starter. Nobody with a brain expected him to impress, only to show some progression and capability. He has. Not at a starter level, but for a young raw kid, he's showing most people a little bit of ability. He looks like a kid with good physical tools, good mechanics and footwork, and improvisational talent when needed. He has promise. He isn't ready. To write him off as a bust now is dumb. To say anything more glowing than is typed here is dumb. Can we just lock this thread now? We're all worse off now for reading some of these takes.
-
Corral is gonna be fine. Tools are there. He needs time. People are spoiled by the QBs of the recent decade and forget that most of the QBs not that long ago weren't ready as rookies and even the ones that were needed a couple years to grow into the legends we know them to be today. Corral may yet flop, but nobody should expect him to be starter material this year or even next.
-
If nobody bites on Darnold though then we look really fuging stupid. Tbf, having these 4 as our QB room has already achieved that but still lol
-
Maybe but we'd be dumb to keep 4 QBs longer than another week. Darnold or PJ gotta go. Corral has through next off-season to show he's coming along and can take the show over from Baker or he can be gone too.
-
Yeah about that. I'm fine with PJ being here as a backup...if Darnold is gone. The point is you drafted Corral with the intention of him learning. He won't learn poo being behind 3 QBs (2 of which wouldn't be thought to start on any other roster in the league). So if we're keeping PJ, adios Sam. If we're keeping Sam, adios PJ. As it stands, I'd rather have Sam as I think he's the better of the 2 at his best. PJ at his best is a good backup. Sam at his best is a competent starter. This has been shown in actual games last season. It's like saying Derek Anderson could have started when he got us wins. No. He just played backup well. Wasn't risky, protected the ball, did enough to not lose. Same as PJ.
-
Can't judge him fairly until week 4 IMO, but it does appear that there's a bit more rhyme and reason to what we were doing. Seeing the QBs actually checking at the line was reassuring.
-
Either PJ is going to be moved from QB to some other position and serve on special teams, traded or outright cut. There's zero reason to give him so much time today unless they're trying to shop him and wanted tape to show something current. He's taking reps away from the other 3. Him being here at QB directly hurts the team.

What would Sam have to do to reach the HoF

East Lincoln's finest.

I heard him, I understand him, I know what he's saying. But I don't feel him. Seriously, it started sounding like a soundboard the longer it went.

Most Underrated Player on Every NFL Team
lightsout replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. DJ always gets mentioned nationally as "a nice weapon" while Robbie is viewed as "the guy". In truth, DJ is one of the best in the league and that's with Teddy and Darnold/post-injury Cam throwing. -
Gimme the David Gettis podcast
-
Well yeah. TB toxicity that spills into the main forum + every post being brigaded by people calling BS on everything.
-
Precisely why the trade for Baker should be Sam + Robbie. Robbie because dropsies and because we have DJ and Marshall. Plus Robbie's whole "I'm here ain't I" comment just seems toxic as hell. Won't be a huge hit for us, it gives more value to Cleveland, and depending how they do it, it can offset the some of the money coming with Baker potentially. If they don't take that, it ain't happening and we roll with Sam/Corral.
