  1. You forgot Jimi Hendrix, Heart, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters... Just quoting the TV shows set there is like appreciating a good looking woman by her earlobes alone.
  2. Don't we ever get tired of articles where a writer speculates about what another writer speculated about in one of their own opinion pieces? It's the circle jerk of the off season I guess.
  3. Plenty of tape on him running (pretty impressively). Any result other than some astronomical number (4.4 etc) could only neutrally or negatively affect the assessments.
  4. That's my only hitch on this guy. He has everything except the tape against top tier defenses. He's young, though, so learning it isn't out of the question. He also seems to be a student of the game and motivated to improve beyond just his physical gifts. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's not the guy I want at #8 for QB, but if we get him, I'll be darned happy with the choice. His upside is incredible, even if he may not be ready for prime time right out of the gate.
  5. And Okung has the Bitcoin to prove it. Crazy dude, but he was right about that move.
  6. This... 100%. And do not revisit those we traded away. We traded him to San Diego... errr LA2, to get a problem off our books in exchange for us taking a problem off of the Chargers' books in Okung. We got the verifiably nuttier one of the two, but we actually got a few good games from him. I don't think LA2 could say the same for Trai. Just let him find a new home. If it were Norwell, on a very team friendly deal, yeah, I'd swing for that. He left for bigger bucks than we could afford at the time, not because he was literally being called out in the middle of games by Cam for not doing his job. Edit to add: always best to grow Guards, draft Tackles and get the smartest center you can find.
  7. We really could be that close. A little stiffening of the defense and voila!
  8. CMC should be able to open up a lot of opportunities for our other WRs to go deep down the field. You just can't cover him with a linebacker and you really can't tackle him with a CB. Now if he can stay healthy, if we could somehow retain Samuel AND get someone who is a threat to zing the ball down field... poo is going to get interesting.
  9. Lance isn't my guy, but I wouldn't be upset if we took him. There's a lot to like about the kid and he has the look of a modern QB and seems to have good leadership skills. What worries me about him is that he is SOOOOO young and has SOOOO little experience as a QB, even going back to high school. He has the arm, he can move like a Maserati, but does he have enough experience to read a defense and process the info? Does he have the maturity to dig in and keep working when the game gets tough or the team racks up a couple of losses in a row? Has he seen enough of the game to really influence it and bend both teams to his will? That's a lot for a kid who will turn 21 in May. Still, he looks the part, really looks the part.
  10. Y'all are going to be disappointed, then surprised.
  11. Not sure about John Allen, but I think Josh and Lamar have proven themselves as contenders for the Lombardi a bit better. And there's still some room for improvement for both.
  12. Umm, I'm not sure that he's a top 3 QB in the league right now. Rodgers, Mahomes, Jackson, Allen (go figure) are all probably more sure things among QBs not at the end of their careers, and then you've got Brady in the mix as he holds off retirement yet again. Maybe even Russell Wilson could be better with the right personnel. And maybe it's just me, but when people talk about how great you are AND you start demanding a trade, I begin to wonder if it isn't just marketing by Watson's representation and maybe even Houston's leadership who want to get him and his contract moved out and rake in a ton of opportunities. Even if he was a top 3 QB, the price for him is astronomical, besides the contract (which has a massive hit in 2022 even beyond the signing bonus that stays on Houston's books). We're talking sending players AND multiple first round picks and maybe some later rounders. If we do that then who do we put on the field with him to actually play the game? If we get Watson, there will be plenty of room for a Lombardi trophy because our cupboard will truly be bare. Once again, this ain't Madden where one star player on easy mode can win every game and take you to the championship.
  13. A bunch of teams are having to shed either overpriced QBs or overpriced OTs right now (KC has let both of their starting offensive tackles go). Getting one of the most expensive ones when we really don't have any long term solutions at tackle in house and probably giving up draft picks for multiple years... This is really like borrowing more money when you're still in debt. I'll cheer for Watson if he suits up in a Panthers uniform certainly, but I'll say it for the umpteenth time "this is a terrible idea that could harm us for years."
  14. Two of our greatest, and two who really helped us create an identity. Stellar guys who won't be forgotten on the field or in their community, where they've been stars, too.
  15. Anyone else think the Cap is the Snufflufagus of the NFL? It only exists if you believe it does.
  16. Mac's the pick. I've been saying it for a month or so now. He's going to do very well in the NFL, either for us or against us. If we don't take him at 8, then there's no way he's making it past New England or New Orleans. He's also the QB our coaching staff has had the most time to be around pre-draft and probably will be. That might speak volumes when it comes time to make the pick. This is all under the premise that we don't pick up someone by trade or free agency before the draft.
  17. Nope, sure didn't. As I've said before, Teddy isn't blameless, but he's not the only one to blame.
  18. Nope, can't blame that on the defense. Teddy owns that. Still, in one score games, the defense has to hold some of the blame. I also think our offensive and defensive coordinators were behind the learning curve and our opponents seemed to take great pleasure in showing off the difference between the pro game and the college one. Hopefully, this season will see more aggression on both sides of the ball for the Panthers. We were timid last year in our play calling.
  19. I'm not saying he's good enough to continue as our starter. He played timid last season and after the third week he looked nothing like he did in New Orleans the prior season. Offensively he had weapons, even after CMC went down (although that was a huge one). And we did score, most of the time. With the exception of the Detroit game, though, we couldn't stop a team to save our lives. Our defensive coordination looked like a rookie player in his first year in the league (which it pretty much was). The objective is always to win games each season, as many as possible. I'm not saying Teddy would have won us those games, just that we had the capabilities as a team to win a few of those games with a bit more backbone in our defense. We do need a new QB, desperately, if we are going to be relevant any time soon. I think we draft one, the best available and move forward there. If that pick is somehow a bust, we move into next season picking it again, repeating if necessary.
  20. Nope, I think Teddy has cemented his role as a back up wherever he ends up. Timidity never serves a QB well.
  21. Exactly. And that's an awful lot of eggs in one basket. I still say that a guy who makes the trade demand after getting a mega contract might be a bit on the demanding side. If you take him on, you may have to relinquish control of many aspects of the team to him... Russell Wilson anyone?
