  1. Baseball. And frankly, that's a sport where it makes more sense. It's more individual in nature and stat driven in results. Football is far more physical in nature and requires heavy teamwork and chemistry on both sides of the ball. Again, I know people want it to be some kind of magic bullet, but it just isn't.
  2. Scouting that included...wait for it, analytics Reality is that a lot of football analytics is basically just an attempt to quantify things that are already scouted, as if judging an offensive lineman's knee bend using a caliper somehow makes it more reliable than just using your eyes. Hint: It doesn't. I know there are people who think analytics is somehow going to make scouting foolproof. It's not. Nor will anything else. It's always going to be an inexact science that some people will be better at than others. Acting like it's some magic wand is silly.
  3. Dude, you don't even know the difference between analytics and measurables. Tepper is a huge analytics fan. The Panthers have an analytics department and have incorporated it into their scouting. It's not some missing element like you want to believe. Keep trying if you want, but oy...
  4. The problem over the past few years was poor decision making. Does relying on analytics fix that though? No. Tepper is already heavily engaged in analytics as part of what we do. We're not missing that element. What we're missing is better personnel evaluation.
  5. It's definitely possible. The decision could already be made but the NFL hates when non-playoff team announcements take attention away from the playoffs themselves.
  6. Callahan has been on the head coaching radar for a while now. Of the GM list, Halaby is the one I'd absolutely not want. The Athletic story about him being part of the toxic atmosphere that helped force Doug Pederson out in Philly reads like an even worse version of the "Hunger Games" story from the Panthers this year. Brandon Brown would be my favorite at the moment, but I'd hire Dan Morgan before I'd want Halaby.
  7. No longer a guess now... He's the only name I've seen confirmed so far though I imagine we could get more news soon.
  8. Unclear. Pelissero technically only said the list "included" those names but other than a random mention from Person and the news that Mike Disner withdrew, we haven't really seen anyone else discussed.
  9. As we move now into the second phase, the first name to emerge for the Panthers is Brian Callahan.
  10. You actually just demonstrated pretty well that you're someone who has no idea what analytics are Scouting is a skill, but not everything within it is quantifiable. These days everybody wants a top ten list when in reality, breaking things down to a decimal point is rarely necessary for someone who knows what they're watching. There are really only two categories a football player: good enough and not good enough. Some people have the skill set to judge those things. Others don't. If you don't have that skill set, throwing a bunch of numbers into a blender isn't going to give it to you. If you do, it isn't going to tell you anything you don't already know.
  11. The 49ers still have to get past either the Lions or the Bucs. The Ravens still have to get past either the Bills or the Chiefs. The Super Bowl matchup is far from set.
  12. Know who else played here, really wanted to come back here and had a pedigree to win? Frank Reich It guarantees nothing.
  13. Might have spoke a tad too soon there...
