  1. Key phrase in all this: Wilson felt Carroll and Schneider were inhibiting his quest to win additional Super Bowls and individual awards. Oy
  2. Remember when everybody was freaking out about Deion Sanders getting 35 million?
  3. For those who hadn't seen this in the "Around the League" thread... I feel pretty comfortable saying this is going to be a big deal in the sports talk room for the next little bit Some additional background can be found in another story from The Athletic staff about Wilson's first year in Denver. From the article... Convinced that Carroll and Schneider were inhibiting his quest to win additional Super Bowls and individual awards, Wilson asked Seahawks ownership to fire both of them, according to league sources who spoke to The Athletic on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the details. Wilson also had a preferred replacement in mind: Sean Payton, who had recently stepped down from the New Orleans Saints.
  4. Granted, you have to evaluate the veteran properly and we didn't have the people who could do that. I think we do now.
  5. A note from the article linked above... When he finished his presser, Brown shook hands with every reporter and photojournalist before making way for Staley. Man, I like this guy
  6. That's a very different discussion... It was always fun to watch when Luke would notice something and go apesh-t right before a snap
  7. Rams are honestly in kind of a weird spot with McVay right now.
  8. Setting aside whether you want him here or not, the comment that it's fair market for a good vet is probably true. We signed Bridgewater for around 20 million if I remember right. That was fair for a veteran at the time. With inflation and the cap going up, 35 is probably a good figure now.
  9. I wonder what position group I should start with
  10. When I say quit looking for "the next" I'm talking more about us than scouts because when it's done here it's more sentimental than analytical. That said, I think Honest NFL is right. It's gotten kind of lazy.
  11. I hadn't looked but one of our resident capologists might have.
  12. No. Just clarifying which active quarterbacks have Super Bowl rings. Not every post has an agenda behind it.
  13. I'm not sure where Rimmer is getting his numbers from.
  14. On the topic of pro comparisons, I've kinda started to feel like this too... It gets worse when it's clouded by lostalgia, i.e. people constantly looking for "the next Cam". That's why I say stop looking for the next this guy, the next that guy or the next whoever and just evaluate the players for who they are. It's about skills, traits and characteristics, not who they wistfully (or wishfully) remind you of.
  15. And now, Broncos writer Mike Klis tries to put a positive spin on things...
  16. Apparently someone thought that nickname didn't sound good, but Mrs Boze responded... As I recall, we previously had a "White Buffalo" too (Andrew Norwell). Now we've gone from buffalo to rhino Seriously though, extend this guy.
  17. Person with a summary article in The Athletic...
  18. Are we getting into the old "just win one Super Bowl and I'm good for the next 20 years" debate again?
  19. Wilson denies the story, but... So both Russell Wilson and Jim Harbaugh are sounding off? Yeah, there's gonna be some interesting reading available for the next few days
  20. A lot of us who played likely have stories like this. Could probably make a whole thread of it We've done a thread on old sports injuries before. Found out loads of us were still walking around with souvenirs from our "glory days".
  21. There's a few more than that, but they're not all starters. Brady retiring (again) took all of his off the table.
