Gantt indicates the Panthers should bring in Carr
Mr. Scot replied to TheMaulClaw's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gun to my head, I don't think we end up with Carr. That said, I'm not discounting anything at this point. -
I think anybody who saw me in high school would have described me as the kind of player who would make a very good coach

I've read the actual behind the scenes stories. They make it pretty clear there's a difference between the public face and the private happenings.

Reich himself said those discussions weren't happening until this week. -
Bad news for fans of defense (and non-fand of NFL officiating)...

No, what he has is a front office that wants to work collaboratively with him rather than just dictating to him like the Colts did. -

Yeah, that's speculation. The story I'm citing comes from a conversation with longtime Packers reporter Bob McGinn. McGinn: Packers will move on from Rodgers McGinn, who has covered the Packers since forever, mentions Green Bay GM Brian Gutekunst, Head Coach Matt LaFleur and team CEO Mark Murphy all being "disgusted" and "done" with Rodgers, and says they firmly plans to move on from him. He adds also that they fully believe in backup Jordan Love. -

Callihan's a bit of a homer (he defended Rhule a lot) but he might have a point here. -

I'm paying more attention to Levis because of Thomas Brown and his connection to Liam Coen. -

That's already his preference (stated numerous times). But is it Frank Reich's preference? -

Gotcha, but why would it not be Levis? -

Not when the team is reportedly "done with you", it isn't. All indications are at this point they're ready to call pretty much any bluff he plays. Throw in that his likely most amorous suitor is a team that's in the AFC and employs a coach he likes very much. -

Yeah, Rodgers doesn't have the kind of leverage you think. Rodgers can't force the Packers to do something against their own best interests. Neither does he have the kind of goodwill with his team that Matt Stafford had. The fact that he's made a very public ass of himself over the last few years doesn't exactly help in the PR department either. -
That's possible, but it's not reality right now.

The sad reality is that loads of people, including people who genuinely are old enough or smart enough to know better, trade valuable aspects of their life in exchange for for money. Sometimes it's your physical health, like doing something that breaks your body down...but it pays you well. Sometimes it's your mental health, like working at a job you despise so much that the stress hurts you physically...but it pays you well. Sometimes it's other things like pride, dignity, privacy, family and pretty much always time... but it's okay because it pays you well. Or at least it's okay until you come to a point of realizing that maybe it wasn't really worth it. That's just the world

The one consistent observation that I have with Carr is that I think if they're given a chance to talk, he and Frank Reich would probably really hit it off. It'd be a stretch to say that means he'll wind up here as there are loads of other factors to consider, but hey... -

It's probably a stretch, just a common sports metaphor. That said, I don't know basketball so I can't say I get this one. -
Honestly what I found shocking was that anyone was willing to buy into the rumor that they were gonna trade him.

Nope. They don't have to trade him at all, and per reports that option is on the table. Now you could suggest that a ridiculous offer might change their mind, but we're not making that kind of offer...nor should we. -

Didn't think about it at the time but looking back at it, Ron did seem a little...off. He's struggled with his health in recent years. That could be affecting him
