  1. Read the post again. The point was that people often judge reporters unrealistically, with one of those standards being whether or not it's something they want to hear. Another example... Reporter X writes that the Panthers are interested in Free Agent Y... Free Agent Y signs somewhere else... The Huddle concludes that Reporter X doesn't know what he's talking about...
  2. I totally trust the coaching staff... Until they make a decision that I disagree with
  3. I remember a lot of fans talking about how great Gil Brandt was when he spoke positively of Cam Newton prior to the draft. Later on, when Brandt pointed up some issues in a then veteran Newton's game, some of those same fans came back and called him an old codger. It's a time-honored Huddle tradition that a reporter's reliability depends mostly on whether or not you agree with their opinion. So if you think the Panthers should draft Anthony Richardson, Kunkel's likely a hack right now
  4. He's not the only one saying that. It pretty closely matches what Joe Person has said.
  5. Both of those things were actually true at the time they were posted. Things change
  6. We've had this discussion. It's not as simple as saying "He's really good, let's go get him." There are a hundred other real world details that you have to factor into the discussion. This isn't Madden.
  7. All indications are that we already did. Seems pretty clear our next quarterback is most likely to come from the Draft.
  8. Check the timeline... Her original tweet came out before the news that we weren't interested. She's since updated.
  9. We just hired a guy who should know a thing or two about the Cardinals
  10. I'd throw in that I would be willing to bet a pretty significant amount of money that at some point (maybe several points) along the way, someone from the Players Association has probably looked at Jackson and said "You know Lamar, this whole process would probably go a whole lot smoother if you'd hire an agent"
  11. Absolutely. And heck, If you don't like the deal that your agent is getting for you, well then you can just fire them and get a different one. How would you fire the Players Association?
  12. Pretty much. Schefter points out the same result has happened several times before to franchise tagged players. That's why the tag exists.
  13. That'd be the major outcome. And to be clear, the NFLPA certifies those agents. They don't have the resources to basically hold every single player's hand through contract negotiations. Helping filter the agents is their best form of assistance.
  14. Not for those of us old enough to remember who Evel Knievel was anyway (I'm probably not the only one here who did some damage to their bicycle trying to imitate some of his feats)
  15. Actually it'd lead to a lot of guys getting screwed over because the average NFL player isn't going to be well versed enough in contract language to negotiate their own deal.
  16. Actually it's being debunked... The Ravens basically said "if you really think this is what you're worth, see if you can find somebody who'll pay it". So far, that's not going so well for him. Schefter is right. It's a brilliant move on their part.
  17. I'll say this: When I saw the news about the non-exclusive tag, my first thought was this was gonna be a replay of the Watson saga, AKA Panther fans spending an inordinate amount of time pining for something that ultimately wasn't gonna happen. Instead it looks like the whole story played out in no time at all. So it seems Step Next will be to talk about drafting our QB of the future...after free agency, of course. Hell of a day...
  18. Good analysis... The second option is Fitterer's preferred MO
