  1. Given the environment around the team last season, it's not really difficult to believe. We're basically also asking him to start over with a rookie head coach when guys he's got history with are way further along and in a much better position. And I mean, he walks next year anyway. Unless we think there's some kind of magic coming this season or we're somehow going to draft an MVP level player with that compensatory third rounder, what's the point of saddlng a rookie coach with a disgruntled DC?
  2. We're going to add to the already dysfunctional reputation and environment we have amongst coaches and league people just so we can get one year of service from a coach who doesn't want to be here and an extra third round pick? Does this really sound like a good trade-off to everybody? It's not like we're talking about this year being a Super Bowl run or something.
  3. People on Panthers Twitter want the team to try and force Evero to stay since he's under contract. That's...not as simple and easy a solution as some seem to think it is.
  4. Joe also mentions in this piece that the reason we've been able to pull so many coaches from the Bucs offensive staff is because they were all working under expiring contracts. Tampa didn't have the option to block them.
  5. It was only a couple of weeks ago that The Athletic mentioned a possible pairing in Carolina of Evero and Johnson, who have the same agent. But now there’s a sense in NFL circles that Evero is more interested in pursuing defensive coordinator positions elsewhere than returning to the Panthers.
  6. It is a decent amount of staff to let go (and have to replace) especially with them all concentrated on one side of the ball.
  7. Write plays, game plan, coach the overall scheme
  8. I think speculation was Nate Carroll was gonna take the QB coach spot. Haven't seen as much former Seahawk influence as some expected so far.
  9. Hard not to notice the path: Steelers, Colts, Cardinals, Bucs
  10. Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting a sense from looking back at Canales and Idzik's respective backgrounds that their Panther offense might be more pass heavy than previous editions. That's just a hunch, though.
  11. To be fair, an awful lot of NFL paydays are based more on what you're expected to do than what you've done.
  12. Goodwin succeeded Russ Grimm in Pittsburgh, didn't he? Seems to have had a long association with Bruce Arians that I imagine started there.
  13. All have decent reputations. Goodwin is likely the best known and most successful.
  14. I mean, if I were on a plane flying to meet some guy at his convenience and mid-flight he goes "nah, I'm good", I'd be pretty pissed.
  15. Bit of contrast...some guys we couldn't wait to usher out the door.
