Yep. I didn't want him either (Lady Cowboy Fan did, I wanted Stroud) but the venom being spewed about him is kinda cringey.

Something tells me you're not understanding what you're reading...or what you're seeing for that matter If you think Anthony Richardson had better tape than Bryce Young or CJ Stroud. The argument for guys like Richardson and Levis is that you take the super physical specimen who's only got raw quarterbacking skills and coach him up to be a quarterback as opposed to taking the guy like Young who already knows how to play the position very well but might not be as physically talented as the others. I've never been a fan of that approach, and I'm still not. However, like many others Young's size and potential lack of durability concerned me, and still do. That's why I preferred CJ Stroud, but also never hated the idea of drafting Young because his actual quarterbacking skill set is off the charts, even if he doesn't throw the ball a hundred miles an hour or a hundred yards downfield with the flick of a wrist. The last team that took the "just draft an athlete and worry about the other stuff later" approach signed Sam Darnold this offseason because they're still not sure the "super athlete" they drafted can play quarterback. (which is ironic as hell given that Darnold basically fits the same profile)

Nah. It's a stupid one, and it's a lazy one. Can't say it shows much in the reading comprehension department either. Where did I say you were? You're really not getting it here.
-
Ah yes, the old "that guy is just confident, but ihe other guy is a cocky douche" argument. Unless we draft him of course, then he becomes confident. Which tape? The 2021 or the 2022? And the reality is they do all have an equal chance of being good, or of being bad. You can make predictions based on what you see, but acting like you know anything for certain at this point Is the actual "being a douche". Yes I know it's the thing in sports talk today to tell everybody "this is my view and it's a fact and nobody can argue with it". Has been since Jim Rome came along, but it's still stupid.

Changes to the Panthers behind the scenes staff
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sadly, that's not difficult to believe. -
The rationale for drafting Richardson was basically the same one for drafting Levis or for Willis last year, i.e. grab the raw guy with the physical talent and coach him up. One difference: This year's version of that carried the additional tagline of "our coaching staff can handle it". Nobody was saying that last year.

It's a bad strategy. Doing it twice in a row certainly doesn't help. Anthony Richardson fans.
-
Also known as the drafting formula loads of people on here embraced pre-draft but that everybody is now down on since we went the opposite direction
-
Fairly certain he wouldn't give a sh-t about any of our opinions either (why should he?) Levis could busy or he could turn out to be great, as could CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and yes, Bryce Young. Acting like we know the outcome for any of them right now is kinda Colin Cowherdish.

At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?
Mr. Scot replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Definitely not me... But the reality is those final judgements are a long way off. -
I know 2025 feels like it was a century ago, but it wasn't really that long.
-
Not sure which "frat guy" you're talking about, but pro sports is definitely work if you're gonna be any good at it. Ask Steve Smith...or guys like Jerome Bettis who destroyed their body for the game.
-
Vastly overrated, but a big deal to the "highlight reel" scouts. Goofy as it sounds, I've actually had people tell me they'd just as soon watch an exciting loss as a boring win. Winning is never boring.
-
He's also 100% correct.
-
That's a lot bigger deal than some know or will admit. Fans love watching the guy with the rocket arm throw high velocity passes a lot more than receivers enjoy catching them. Hell, some of Favre's guys ended up with broken fingers
-
Wait till they throw a bad pass in the first quarter of their first preseason game. Then you can predict their entire career trajectory
-
There may be things that are sillier than proclaiming a player to be a sure fire draft bust or ready for their Hall of Fame bust based on early mini camp practices, but there aren't all that many. Nobody has a clue how good (or bad) any of these rookies are going to be. Hell, you still might not when this season finishes.

Fair point. I used the term generically, but if we're being fully accurate Florio doesn't break news so much as he repeats it and comments on it.

Changes to the Panthers behind the scenes staff

Knew about Will Bryan. Not that familiar with the other guy. -
Watching those quarterback drill "highlights" coming out of Tampa, if I were a Bucs fan I'd be cringing right now. (as a Panthers fan I'm laughing my ass off)
-
The aforementioned "piss poor coaching" is probably responsible for more things than we'll ever know.
-
Florio trying to start sh-t... He's not content just breaking the news. He tries to create it.

Old friend alert...

I love those guys

I don't really think Hubbard is a bad runner. Heck, we've seen plenty of cases where he takes a handoff and runs like a freight train. Just don't ask him to catch a pass. And please, in the name of all that's holy don't put him out there to catch a punt
